Sea Fever in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Have just learned that Sea Fever is now permanently closed. To say I am gutted is an understatement, we have been there many times and each meal was absolutely superb, it was our main reason for visiting Bude from Hertfordshire, we would stay 2 nights and eat there on both of them.

This was our second visit and our friend’s first. The mussels and smoked salmon were excellent for starters and the hake and Bass for mains were equally as delicious. We had new potatoes which I’m not normally that fond of but they were probably some of the best I’ve ever tasted. The finishing touch of dessert of sorbet with homemade honeycombe and my friends brownie and sticky toffee pudding were actually very light and definitely worth having! The staff as usual were super which made for a really enjoyable evening thank you

We had a fabulous meal at Sea Fever (a rare treat thanks to my parents looking after our 2 year old!). The food was exceptional- beautifully presented, refined but full of depth of flavour. Service was attentive without being overbearing and the wine list was extensive but very reasonably priced. I could not fault the experience and would not hesitate to recommend.

Absolute gem of a restaurant, can’t believe after all our visits to Bude that we had not discovered it earlier (this will now be rectified!) From the minute we arrived the welcome and service was exemplary. We loved the fact that the menu was not vast and that all the ingredients are sourced as locally as possible. We all had the mussels as a starter and they were perfect. The mains of monkfish and hake did not disappoint. Beautifully presented with delicate, complimentary flavours, absolutely delicious. Plenty of choice for wines, cocktails, soft drinks etc. The dessert menu looked delicious but we couldn’t eat any more. Many thanks to the front of house staff and of course, the chef for a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommend.

Before visiting Sea Fever I had been quite anxious due to the stern admonition on the website about arriving on time and not a moment sooner. How can you guarantee that when you have travelled for some distance? Anyway, we raised this with the waiter, along with a couple of other issues re the website, and apparently it’s a hangover from Covid times. We did get there exactly on time, having had great difficulty finding the place, which is in a one-way street that we were at the wrong end of, in the dark. It’s also within another building (called Atlantic House). A large glass of rosé eased my stress and we got on with ordering. We started with bread and olives, with seaweed butter, then my husband had hake with leeks etc and I had duck – beautifully cooked, and garnished with plums. Then he had a lemony dessert and I had choc mousse with salted caramel ice-cream, really good. The restaurant is obviously very popular, and other guests were all making favourable comments about their food.

As soon as we walked in the restaurant and met by Mark we knew we were in a classy but at the same time relaxed establishment, ambience, service and food top notch a definite place to put on your list when visiting Bude, I would say it on par if not better than your “ posher” ones further down South. It was my wife’s birthday and Mark wished her happy birthday and said she could have a complimentary drink, lovely touch that. I had the oysters to start my wife lynne had the mackerel dish both were lovely, we followed by lynne having sea bass and I had the monkfish , again both were presented well and full of flavour, 10 out of 10 Sea Fever we will return on our next trip to Bude

Excellent food and service, fish was fantastic, from start to finish the experience was calm and well presented. I would recommend this for a good dinner with excellent wines at an affordable price.

Our second visit and always a lovely selection of fish dishes on the menu. The tables are nicely spaced so you can enjoy your conversations even if the small restaurant is full. Friendly service, enjoyed all the courses and the (sticky) bread with seaweed butter is yummie!

Despite being ‘extremely’ local to this restaurant, tonight was my first time dining. The food lived up to all my expectations and more, delicately cooked, flavoursome, local and fresh. The chef’s talent is as common as flying pigs! Exceptionally prompt and professional service, the restaurant manager (Mark) and Katie were friendly and knowledgable, nothing was too much trouble. Hands down the best restaurant in town!

Wow. Was not cheap, but…. You certainly got what you paid for. Our daughter said it was the best meal she had ever eaten (even though I’m her mum lol) She was right though. We had mussels, crab for starters. John Dory and the Duck for main. Posset and chocolate mousse. All perfect. If we are in the area again, I will definitely book to go back. There are only a few spaces in front of the hotel to park, but quite a large carpark a short walk from there. It’s free after four pm. Drinks a bit pricey for the area, but again we enjoyed the evening. Fantastic staff too.

Fabulous food, service and ambience. Really loved it and have not eaten Better food. This gives France a run for its money and believe me we know it well. The quality of the dishes was excellent and each beautifully balanced. Delicious Thankyou

We arrived at Widemouth Bay on the Friday and booked a table here for food one night, lovely place, staff are very friendly, definitely recommend coming here the food is great and staff can’t do enough for you 😊

We treat ourselves to Sea Fever for a special occasion and as it was our Wedding Anniversary, we just had to visit. We like the ambience and the quiet atmosphere largely because of the soft furnishings and carpeted floor. We find some restaurants very noisy and jarring. This visit was everything we expected. My husband had oysters to start and I had mussels, both dishes were delicious and beautifully presented. Our mains of steak and monkfish were also delicious and were served piping hot on hot plates which is important to me. The service was unobtrusive but efficient and friendly. Thank you for a very pleasant experience.
