Cwlbox in Pembrokeshire

Amazing that such great food can be produced from such a small cafe. Limited menu but excellent quality.

Located on the beach, Cwlbox offers tasty street food which is bursting with flavour. A little on the pricey side but definitely made worthwhile with big portion sizes and fresh produce.

These are one of my fav with ygegin being not open, I’m happy to head to Saundersfoot to get my fix. The staff are always pleasant and the food is incredible.

Really enjoyed our meal from Cwlbox last week. My wife and son had the Crispy Squid and it looked delicious. I had the Bang Bang Prawns. They were lovely too but, to be honest, at £12 they felt a little expensive for what you got. With drinks, it came to about £38 for the three of us, so not a cheap option.

Really delicious food. A bit of a wait but completely worth it as you could see it was freshly prepared. The prawns were amazing!!! We will definitely be back!!

We visited Cwl Box in Tenby while on holiday last week. The service was warm and friendly and the food was delicious - in fact my 16 year old son declared that it was the best meal he ever had! A particular favourite was baked ricotta cheese with honey and sesame seeds.We were so pleased that we returned to visit he horse box on Saundersfoot beach and had delicious sea food and chips (deep fried halloumi, bang bang prawns, whitebaie) which were again a real treat.Thanks again!

Enjoyed a couple of lunches from here whilst on the beach. Food was excellent, would recommend the crab and the fish finger sandwiches.

Me and my friends came down to Saundersfoot for lunch and came across ‘cwlbox’. I had the halloumi with dirty fries, salted caramel brownie and a cappuccino which was amazing! 10/10! The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was superb! Definitely will be returning!

Went down to the Cwlbox, to celebrate my husbands birthday. He had the lobster roll with dirty fries and I had the bang bang prawns. Both meals 10/10 superb, It was our first visit but certainly won't be our last. Staff really friendly and chatty. Well worth a visit, but I would recommend to go early, they sell out pretty quickly. Wow, I had a seafood platter And dirty fries at The sandbar in Tenby , (Cwlbox’s newest venture) should have taken a pic but was too busy fighting my daughter off! Seriously good, cannot rate the food and staff high enough and the venue isn’t even quite finished yet! COVID friendly area, can’t wait to return on our next trip to Tenby . Worth every penny!

Sat on the seating area on the beach, enjoying delicious freshly cooked food. Halloumi cheese was amazing as was the squid.we also had the “dirty fries” which were fabulous. The staff are lovely. Great setting and great food - thoroughly recommended.

Had an amazing lunch at Cŵlbox yesterday! The Bang Bang prawns are out of this world and my husband loved his po boy and dirty fries! (He’ll eat anything if it’s covered in their bang bang mayo!!) Excellent quality food and superb location. The staff are so friendly and everything is fresh to order. We look forward to eating here every time we go to Saundersfoot!!

First time trying this food spot. I saw it on facebook and thought it looked delicious so gave it a try and I was not disappointed. Will be returning. The portions were really generous so well worth the money.

The food was lovely and freshly cooked for us - but at nearly £70 for 4 adults and 2 kids it is not a cheap fish and chips option.

Our first meal was fantastic we had halloumi and the crab chips. We visited a second time in the week as we had been so impressed but unfortunately our next dishes were extremely salty which was a shame. Lovely location to have food to takeaway and well presented.

Fate has meant that we’ve tried and failed to visit Cwlbox for the last 18 months as we live some distance away, but TODAY was the DAY. Ate our way through the menu to make up for lost time . Fantastic food cooked by two fabulous ladies. Will definitely be back

I’ve been to Cŵl Box twice recently, and both times I’ve had the halloumi with salad and fries (vegetarian). Brilliant food! Can’t wait to come again and eat food by the sea!

On Saundersfoot beach today, really enjoyed the fare from the cwl box crew. They are so much fun, the fresh food offering is just great, right there on the sand! What's not to like

Came here today with my girlfriend and we were so blown away by the quality and brilliance of the food and service! Never tried lobster before and they’ve made it my new favourite. The bang bang prawns were also so lush. Also so accommodating for myself as I can’t have dairy. Would 100% recommend to anyone living in Pembrokeshire!!

I had bang bang prawns c/w salad leaves, chips and a special home. made sauce.Hubby had whitebait chips & sauce.Both excellent in taste loved every morsel. Their attention to safety was paramount and they really take care to keep you safe.Freshly cooked high quality food. We will be back.

Dirty fries are to die for, portions are nicely sized, and food of this quality would definitely cost more in a pub or restaurant! Fantastic!

We saw this place on the beach and decided to give it a try as the reviews were so good. We were not disappointed I had calamari and dirty fries and my other half had whitebait with dirty fries. The fish is high quality and perfectly cooked . To have your fries ‘dirty’ is a little extra but great if you like cheese ! Outstanding would highly recommend

We specifically went into saundersfoot to eat lunch on the beach from this horse box and wow... we were not disappointed, the menu is only small but the quality is excellent, and such a lovely couple running it

Came here on a gorgeous sunny afternoon - there was a slight wait whilst the guys topped up their prep but they were swiftly open again. Squid for me & an allergy friendly portion of halloumi for the wife were both excellent, beyond expectations.... keep it up, fine example of a great indie set up. From one chef to another, wouldn’t mind the spicy mayo recipe!

We have just enjoyed a delicious lunch from this street van. Initially the prices looked a little high but wow - absolutely worth it! We had the crispy halloumi, whitebait, dirty fries, and one child’s portion of cod goujons. All beautifully presented in cardboard boxes, with a salad garnish and slice of lemon. The quality and taste felt like something we would eat in a classy restaurant. Highly recommend!

I tried one of Cwlbox's sharing platters whilst they were at Y Gegin, and was disappointed. The platter was assembled freshly in front of me but the bread was stale and the dipping oil/ balsamic vinegar was way too heavy on the oil, leaving a bitter aftertaste. The olives were lovely, but for £5 I excpected more from the dish.

Family of 3 stopped by for lunch. A very friendly welcome from the people working there. We ordered the whitebait, squid and children’s cod. Beautiful presentation and delicious food. We had dirty fries with the adult meals - it added a whole other dimension to it. Hopefully we can call again during our holiday.

What a wonderful location for Cwlbox to provide seafood/street food of the highest standard and quality. This time I had a wonderful selection of seafood along with some dirty fries I think they call them with Cwlbox mayo. I can tell you that I eat every single morsel even though the portion was large. It appears that their fame is growing having been named number 1 restaurant in town and visited by ITV news.

Wow, now this is what Saundersfoot beach has been waiting for. We had squid and ‘dirty’ chips with salad. Superb. They have out a few seats and a bench/table, great for sand free eating. The dirty fries are AMAZING

So this is absolutely the best place to have lunch I went for the squid which was ace my son even agreed (after he had eaten most of it) but I could of devoured everything on the menu honestly simple menu perfectly executed in the perfect location

So impressed with the incredible food and service at Cwl Box, we had a complete variation of the menu with tender and tasty crispy squid, gorgeous bang bang prawns, battered halloumi and the vegan option of bang bang cauliflower all served with dirty fries which were divine and all in the most incredible location. This isn’t your average fish, chips and mushy peas. If you want something a bit different to take away or eat right on Saundersfoot beach, this is your place. The food is deeelicious, try the herby crab and cauliflower, it’s banging!

I have visited this great little horse box on the beach several times. The food is always delicious. Fresh, locally sourced and served with a smile from the friendliest people around with a passion for great food. If you are in West Wales don’t miss this opportunity to savour the tastiest food on the loveliest beach. Win:win.

I’m local to the area and I’ve been wanting to try the food here for a while. I had the ‘Herby Crab’ from the specials board today, it was absolutely delicious. Looking forward to trying other meals from the menu 😊

We had a lovely breakfast in our hotel early and before leaving for home we came down here at 2pm on a lovely day. If you are visiting Pembrokeshire then you should add this place to your list of places to eat. Great food, lovely people and a brilliant beach to visit. Bang bang prawns with dirty fries are top of my list but also the cauliflower, crab and lobster dishes are also superb.

Beautiful food served for 6 adults and 6 kids. Parked up at Wiseman’s bridge and walked the 1/2 mile to Saundersfoot and found this gem! Great service, ingredients, and a surprisingly large choice for a restaurant in a van! If you like quality beach food with a twist this should be your destination!

Cwlbox is a gorgeous little spot to eat. I love that it's a bit different but this is no novelty food van - the squid was delicious, as was the bang bang cauliflower. Everything was so full of flavour. We stopped at Saundersfoot just to visit them and I would go back in a heartbeat!

Visited Cwlbox today for the first time. Food delicious, staff friendly and fun. We had prawns, squid, cod goujons and dirty fries. All was tasty and excellently cooked and not just the food, the coffee too. This place is a gem - we'll be back!

We returned here again today as we loved it so much on our last family holiday and I’m pleased to say it was just as wonderful this time! We ordered Bang bang prawns, crispy squid & 1/2 Tenby Lobster all with dirty fries & salad and it was absolutely delicious! The staff are super friendly & helpful... can’t praise it enough! Love this local venture, a converted horse box serving up tasty seafood and other interesting options in a beautiful location right on Saundersfoot beach.These guys went out of their way to feed our party of youngsters for a birthday celebration. Cod goujons, fries and salad all round. Kids loved it, having the freedom of the beach and yummy food!Great coffee here too, and always nice to chat with the friendly owners. Not to be missed for lunch by the beach!

We were in Pembrokeshire for a family holiday and visited Saundersfoot for some beach action. We had a couple of drinks from the Cwlbox when we got there as it was a bit grey, the drinks were excellent and the childs hot chocolate was just the right size for our 5 yr old.We noticed the menu so, once it was time for lunch, we ordered a portion of halloumi with dirty fries, kids cod and fries as well as a half portion of the cauliflower (a special).The food was excellent and freshly cooked (I was surprised, probably wrongly, to see the fish goujons being freshly cut and prepared!) The service was extremely friendly and polite so all in all. Awesome.Check this place out if you are in the area and if not, make a detour!!

This is hands down some of the best food to be found in Pembrokeshire. Definitely one not to be missed.I was recommended by a friend and was nearly put off by the prices. It initially seemed a little pricey for a hut on the beach. But oh my goodness!!! I am so glad I splashed out. It was so good, I couldn't wait to go back there. Even though I'm a Pembrokeshire local (not a tourist), I went back the next day to try something different on the menu. The food is so thoughtfully prepared and presented with amazing ingredients, it's worth every penny and more........I'll definitely be a returning customer.If you're visiting Pembrokeshire, this is my number 1 recommendation for a tasty, quirky lunch.

I deliberately sought this place out after seeing excellent reviews on Trip Advisor, and I’m glad that I did. How refreshing to find a food stall that doesn’t just serve up the ubiquitous burgers and hot dogs. The menu here is all about squid, whitebait, prawns, and even halloumi cheese, and the only problem I had was deciding which delectable item to choose.I plumped for a dish of crispy squid with “dirty” fries and, as well as tasting absolutely delicious, it was nice to see the care and effort put into cooking and serving the dish.Absolutely top class and I wish the owner continued success.

We stumbled across this fabulous food and drink van on the beach! Lovely friendly owners and great food. We particularly enjoyed our hallomi burger and bang bang cauliflower. Great coffee. All round lovely atmosphere, service and food.

We originally discovered Cwlbox in October 2018 by total accident and were very impressed. So when we were in Saundersfoot with the family in early January we decided to eat there again. Our granddaughters (aged 7 and 5) shared a box of squid and chips which they thoroughly enjoyed. The grownups shared a portion of whitebait and a selection of posh fish finger rolls and halloumi ciabatta. The couple who run Cwlbox (a converted horse box) are very friendly and helpful.

This is such a wonderful little gem of a place. Situated ON the beach, they cook delicious food to order and offer a range of options all served with a big smile and friendly welcome. Highly recommend the Bang Bang prawns (go dirty!) and the halloumi with fries. Lots of specials, excellent coffee as well and seating outside or just wander up to the harbour benches. This is a top notch place to visit when in Saundersfoot.

Today we visited the beach at Saundersfoot and how glad were we that we did!It was a glorious sunny bright autumnal day, the beach is beautiful!We decided to have a bite to eat here as the weather was so good, far too lovely to leave this wonderful place early.We ordered from this attractive looking horse box ( cafe ) right on the beach.Wow!! Best squid and chips ever!!! Everything we had was top quality.How they manage it in that tiny space is amazing.My husband had whitebait and chips and they were super too, really meaty little fish, unlike the skinny bites you usually get.All served beautifully too with a dressed rocket salad.Chips/ fries yummy.Such friendly people too! They have thought of everything, there were even Halloween pumpkins on the couple of tables they had.10 out of 10! A def highlight of our holiday.Thank you!

Had the best crispy squid with dirty fries. Tried for the first time yesterday and came back today. Lush menu just not here long enough to try it all!

So NOT the norm of seaside food you may come to expect....at the bottom of the slipway in Saundersfoot, you find a gem of a ‘horsebox’ serving fresh, wholesome food that was a total pleasure to eat. We had battered whitebait ( a light herby coating) beatufilly cooked and hot - served on a small bed of fries and salad in a light lemony dressing. Totally delicious! Our order of 3 meals, which we enjoyed out of cardboard boxes sitting against the beach wall, rook 10minutes to cook. Our other meals were Squid and salad. They also served a delightful meal called Dirty chips - which sounded fab as was a portion of fries with all sorts of dressings, cheese and chilli - which they had run out of as so busy due to the gorgeous weather!

Visited Saundersfoot on a whim, wandered down to the beach to dip our toes in the Atlantic. Then, see the “beach food” horsebox on the slipway... lunch immediately solved. We had halloumi and fries (A++++) with spicy mayo on 60s style roundel chairs looking out the sea, the atmosphere was super friendly and there was a gorgeous vibe of families, dogs, couples and general well fed happiness. I would visit Saundersfoot again specifically to come here!

Definitiv was für Menschen, die bewusst Plastik vermeiden möchten.Das Essen war frisch umsäget geschmacksintensiv. Genau das richtig. Personal walisisch freundlich und hilfsbereit. Daumen hoch.Best address for Fish‘n‘chips in town. Fresh fish, delicious extras, nice staff, best atmosphere directly at the beach. And as an extra advise: tell them to ‘make it dirty’.

I really wish I took a picture, but it honestly looked so good I barely remembered to breath I inhaled it so fast.Myself and my boyfriend both ordered the squid and chips for dinner and it was just the greatest thing in the world - I don’t even like Mayonnaise, but they do this wicked dirty sauce and I’m converted. Everything just worked so well together and sitting in two comfy chairs looking out into the ocean is better than any 5 star, over the top restaurant. Cwlbox in my opinion is the best food truck in the UK. Will 100% go back to Saundersfoot again just for this meal!

Found myself with a free afternoon so wondered down to the beach at Saundersfoot and unexpectedly ended up eating the best squid I’ve ever had with a beautiful view. Great service, brilliantly simple food, with lobster, squid, prawns and haloumi on offer. Good selection of drinks and reasonably priced for the quality.

So glad we tried Cwlbox - we've seen them so many times but today was the first time we tried the food.It was spot on, squid with dirty fries was amazing and the crispy halloumi equally as good!First class, friendly service, fresh ingredients and great flavours - 100% worth every penny!

Visited Cwlbox at the food festival and was thinking of something to eat. We were about 50 yards away so I popped over. I had the Whitebait with dirty chips, served up with a side salad and mayo. What can I say, !!! Absolutely Awesome. You order on the side ramp and wait at the front until your food is ready. You have to wait a short while but it was definitely worth it. And at £10, superb. If you see them around get over to them quickly.

Came across the Cwlbox seafood outlet yesterday at the Abergavenny Food Festival, I had the crispy squid and Carol had the prawns. Both freshly cooked to order, really delicious and very good value. Really recommend this to you go and try it. Pat & Carol from Gilwern

Just walked along Saundersfoot beach and stumbled on this little gem of a place, nestled right in the beach down the ramp. Had the bang bang prawns with dirty fries to share with the wifey and it was plenty!! Good tasting prawns great fries and salad. The menu has a good variety and will be returning to try some more seafood off the menu

Wow! Just awesome you would pay double this if it was in Cardiff. Brilliant quality of food and cook to perfection. The guys running it are brilliant too giving the time to talk to my son about the calimari. Tip be naughty and have the filthy fries!!!

This looks like a converted horsebox on the beach. Well, actually, it IS a converted horse box on the beach. Yet it serves excellent, quite sophisticated food, lovely coffee and the staff are very welcoming. Small is beautiful!

Spent a day on the beach and was impressed by the menu at this small, but professionally run, beach side food outlet. We had the crispy squid which came with hot crunchy chips and a fresh green salad and the option of freshly chopped chilli. What can I say?? It was fantastic!! Not had better anywhere in the Med! To top it off the fresh coffee was superb, nice and strong without any bitterness. If you are on Saunders foot beach and looking for a lunch then I recommend the Cwlbox. Oh by the way, its all served in a fully recyclable cardboard tray. Wonderful.

Beautiful food, fantastic location, friendly service from their family - we couldn't ask for more! We've been here a few times now and the atmosphere is always great - you can't get food like this and sit literally on the beach anywhere else, so we keep coming back!

Great setting - right on the beach with seating available. Food is lovely (had whitebait, bang bang prawns and kids fish and fries). All very nice with friendly, quick service. Portions of chips are very generous, but would be nice to have a bit more of the very tasty seafood.

We work on Saundersfoot Beach nearly every day, so are always looking for well-priced delicious lunch options and Cwlbox ticks the box! I always go for their Dirty Fries which is a substantial portion of chips topped with cheese, bacon, herbs and their own delicious mayo (I need the recipe). Got such a great range of fresh seafood options as well as the usual coffee and drinks to suit everyone and also some kids options.A must if you're in Saundersfoot, even if you're not on the beach it's a great option for a quick lunch or an evening snack after a swim.The team that runs it is amazing, friendly and always up for a chat, they've only been open a few weeks but you can tell the passion they have for the business.Thanks guys, see you soon (from the little tent opposite you every day)

Bang bang prawns with dirty fries are a must to try - so tasty! Located in the heart of saundersfoot on the beach it really is worth a visit if you are in the area. Staff are so friendly, you’re welcomed with a smile and nothing is to much trouble. Don’t miss out !!!

Had a few hours to kill before checking into our accommodation and stumbled upon this little gem. Looked really stylish for what is essentially a kitchen in a horse box! We sat on the trestle tables provided on the beach with the most glorious view and food that matched! I had the whitebait with salad and fries and blimey was it delicious! My 20 month old son also approved tucking in to my fish and fries!Visiting here will be ‘one of those’ lasting memories and we’ll certainly visit again should we return to the area! Thanks guys!

On a very hot Friday last week I visited the beach to get a suntan and a swim, what a wonderful added surprise to get fantastic food and cold drinks on the beach. I had shredded Lobster with prawns along ‘dirty fries’ and can say that it was superb, so much so that later in the day I went back for seconds, this time crispy squid and those delicious fries. Thank you so very much for this wonderful food and friendship.

Came to saundersfoot around a month ago with my partner and children and my girlfriend is 5 months pregnant and loves fish so her face lit up when she seen this. She had half whitebait and half squid with fries and salad. OMG it was outstanding, the little extras like the garlic mayo and the oil on the salad make this a real treasure in my eyes. Super fresh seafood and reasonably priced it’s so good I came back for my lunch break in work today (my girlfriend won’t be happy) haha. Thank you to the owners of this street food hut for bringing such a delight to Saundersfoot Beach its what the area needed! everyone must try :)

Didn't expect anything of this standard from a little hut on the beach. I had the lobster, dirty fries and salad with fresh chilli, sea salt and aioli. Kids had the goujons and fries. Beautiful, restaurant quality food, right on the beach. They clearly have a passion for it too, asking how we'd like it presented and seasoned. Very friendly. Really impressed. Best "fish and chips" ever! Da iawn!
