Unique place and worth the drive. My daughter and I went for lunch (with a reservation). It's in a fairly remote location. The outside and inside of the building a pretty to look at. The jewelry store portion is dramatic, with high ceilings and pretty lighting. The dining room is lovely with lots of windows and church-themed chairs and benches. Even the table centerpieces with salt, pepper, and menus are noteworthy for their appearance. The service was friendly. The food was delicious. Definitely try the Orkney Ice Cream with the Orkney fudge and toffee flavor. I loved mine. The meal put smiles on our faces.

This cafe is up towards Graham Place from the main street. We enjoyed soup, toasties, coffees and two slices of a deliciously moist chocolate cake before setting off for the St Margaret's Hope ferry. It was very relaxed with a friendly atmosphere, with local artwork on the walls, some for sale. Service was excellent and we would recommend this as somewhere to eat after visiting the town's excellent museum.

Had the best latte here. The view was lovely and we could have sat there all day! The menu looked really interesting and we were disappointed that we had already eaten!

The Royal usually does Fish and Chips on a friday night - you should book by calling ( see Hoy Facebook page for latest news ). We have been sampling Fish and Chips across the Highlands and Islands over the last several years and we are happy to report that the Longhope Fish and Chips are the best - thanks Alan and Sabine , great work. Oh , and it's always a nice wee night in the traditional bar with open fire and draught lager. Loved it.

Adorable little ice cream shop in Nazareth. Get your ice cream fix with a layer of 50's vibe added in thanks to the decor and music played. From a normal twist, black raspberry, or pumpkin soft style (current choices), to a long list of hard ice cream flavors (teaberry included), to milkshakes and sundaes, there are plenty of choices for any ice cream lover. 🍦🍨🥤

We had dinner there twice during our stay in Kirkwall. The food was superb both times. The venue and the service were excellent. Highly recommended.

Sadly this wonderful place is closing. The welcome was warm and friendly, the setting simply amazing - you look out to sea at the Pentland Skerries, Duncansby Head, the north coast of Scotland - on a clear clear day almost as far as Cape Wrath with the mountains of Scotland .......... but down to the excellent food which is not unduly expensive but served with charm and helpfulness. - we had Chowder (5*+) seafood platter (5*+++) lasange (non fish eater!) 5* and amazing desserts. Could not have been a better experience and ranks 1st equal with one other Orkney restaurant! Just sad that it will not be operating under the current management next summer! We wish them a happy retirement!

We received a warm welcome to this lovely coffee shop with amazing views. The coffee, we all agreed, was excellent. Three of us opted for scones with jam and cream and one for coffee cake and again we all thought what we had was delicious. Great selection of food and drinks, super staff and great views all added up to a very nice morning out.

Coffee was nice but there was a member of staff who was exceptionally rude, with extremely poor customer service. She knew we were waiting, we even made eye contact twice as she proceed to then potter around doing nothing whilst we waited, and a queue of others formed behind us. Eventually the poor barista who was already rushed off of his feet took everyone’s orders whilst this member of staff chatted to people in the kitchen and drank water.

We called in for lunch on spec when the place we'd intended going wasn't yet open and were pleasantly surprised. Everything felt fresh and welcoming, the maps on the walls were fascinating, the service friendly. Huge amounts of excellent mussels for me, husband had the scallop salad. We were so impressed we went back a second time, when I had the scallop salad (excellent but actually a little too much for me!) and husband had sea food pasta which was also really good. Down sides? Being served by someone constantly chewing gum with an open mouth is somewhat off putting, and if you want feedback on the food, you come after it's been served and ask if it's OK or you need anything - you don't wait until the guests are paying and then ask "did you enjoy that?". Felt like my granny asking...
