My mother loves the turmeric lattes here, and said she would treat me to one. It hadn't occured to her that this would contain sugar, and she rather led me to think it didn't. It was all just a bit unfortunate, the drink is really tasty though. We both had ours made with oat milk, he uses the fancy barista oat milk so it's nice and creamy. It turns out that both the turmeric and the chai latte are made with syrup which has a ton of sugar in, certainly enough to be problematic for a diabetic. I wish places would have this marked on menus, or something! I was trying to think about what all would be suitable but the owner commented that he's not a mind reader, so I just ordered the turmeric latte after all. This isn't why I took a star off, that's because it's just a tad too small to be a sit-in cafe. My mum finds it too cramped, and doesn't like the chairs. It has nice quirky decor and had quite groovy music while we were in ordering our drinks. You can go along to the town hall if it's open, and drink your to-do drinks in the spacious comfy environment there, if you like things roomy. This is what we did, and I recommend it. It's really a nice wee place, I'm just not sure whether there's anything at all on the menu I can order without being unwell because of it. It has lots of tasty looking vegan snacks ans cakes and such available, which I'd be all about; except unfortunately for me they probably all have loads of sugar too. I'll need to ask the fellow who runs it, when I'm by there next. In conclusion, it's a nice peedie cafe with an eccentric ambience. I recommend it.

Nice to have a friendly chat with the owner, who recommended I try a turmeric latte. Was a little dubious, however it was delicious. Was also tempted into having a pie.

Found this tiny coffee shop a block or so past all the tourist shops in Kirkwall. The proprietor "bragged" that he had the best coffee beans on the islands and quite possibly in Scotland. While I did order a latte, I was thinking that this guy may have been drinking too many free samples of whisky at the distillery down the street that morning before he came to work. He was right! The quality of the beans shined through the drink and was probably the best coffee I had on vacation. I say that being quite the coffee snob! It was so good that I walked back two-three blocks back to his shop to tell him that he WAS correct! Walk a bit further down Victoria Street and find this place. You won't regret it.

Not a cruise ship but a coach trip. He tooknotice of us when we sat down. The coffee was great but the pie would have been better if they were warmer.

We were in Kirkwall just for the day whist on a cruise, found this very good coffee shop a little way pass the Cathedral towards the top end of Victoria Street. Excellent coffees at low prices, a likable place. The establishment is very small so you might be unlucky if it is full, but it is well worth the little walk from the Cathedral.

We stopped in for a flat white while in Kirkwall. Certainly the best coffee in Scotland, of all the places that we tried in our 2 month trip, and close to the best in the UK. Fresh coffee, properly frothed milk in appropriately sized cups with saucers.

Walked in yesterday for a coffee - man (owner?) was sat next to the door and said ‘what do you want?’ My wife said ‘something vegan and nice’ as there were signs up about vegan treats and bakes. We walked to the counter and waited there for an embarrassingly long time, with no-one in the place other than us and him. He didn’t come to the counter, and just sat there messing around with a phone or something that was linked to the sound system, as different tunes kept starting and stopping. After a minute or so of feeling slightly uncomfortable and unwelcome, we walked out without being served. It was all very strange and really odd behaviour towards two customers walking into your coffee shop on a quiet Monday afternoon. If you were the owner, you need to learn some customer service skills. Shame, as the place looked really nice.

What else can I say? Quaint quiet coffee shop in Kirkwall. Coffee beans made in Edinborough. Italian tasting coffee. Made my day.

Visited the cafe after 4pm and was made to feel very welcome. Ordered a tea and a cappuccino with a couple rounds of shortbread. The cappuccino was the best I’ve had in a long time and it had real chocolate sprinkled on top. My husband said the tea was really nice and the shortbread was good too. Will definitely visit again the next time we are in Kirkwall.

St. Margaret!s Hope is a charming little seaside village at the end of side road. It has a few shops and a lovely sea view. We found this restaurant quite by accident but needed a bite to eat. We were

It's no longer a restaurant, but a help yourself facility that offers tea, coffee, biscuits, home made cakes etc, with suggested donations in a tin. Perfectly fine as a place to have a rest, a hot dri
