The best restaurants serving Other cuisines food in Ambleside and Grasmere South Lakeland North West

Couldn’t fault it. This was my first Michelin experience. Every single dish was beautiful. The price is actually cheap for how amazing the food is. Well worth it.

We love going to Fresher's. The staff are all amazing and so welcoming and helpful and the food is delicious (especially the quiche and the scones) with very generous servings. We visit most times we come up to Ambleside and have never been disappointed. Today we shared a piece of breakfast quiche, the picture is my half of it. Our toddler loves coming too, and whenever we've come with a dog, they've been very welcome too. I don't know if I wish it was closer to home, or glad it's sufficiently far away that I can't be in every week!

Warmly welcomed and served quickly despite being busy. Coffee was delicious and served in a quirky cup with cute teaspoon, really nice attention to detail here. Sandwich was well filled and tasted (bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado). We ordered cakes to go - banana, choc and baileys and chocolate peanut butter. Both delicious!

Very kind people, with my three boys and two dogs. A little stressful with traffic etc but the staff were lovely and helpful.

An unbelievable restaurant. Simply stunning food & fantastic engaging staff. The chef James is the most engaging, interesting and passionate chef I’ve been lucky enough to meet and this is reflected in his food. More than happy to serve, talk through the food and answer any questions. Definitely in my top 3 of Cumbrian starred restaurants.

We moved to Ambleside not too long ago and Dodds has become a firm favourite. My wife loves the lasagne and I enjoy trying all of the daily specials. Would highly recommend

Pleasantly surprised, not one we usually use when in the area. Had a reasonable choice of food and drinks, the food was of a good standard.

Beautiful sunny day, so big queues, only team of two, front of house - so appreciate they were under pressure. Ordered coffees and a scone to takeaway. Had to return to ask for sugar and spoon. Got sugar, but no spoon. Coffee was ok. Menu says scones have cream and homemade jam, my takeaway scone had only butter. It was a lovely fruit scone, but was like a fireball, had been over microwaved, too hot, then hard. Was overcharged £5, too. Real shame!

There is nothing I can fault about our meal at Lewis's. They fitted seven of us in with 24 hours notice and were very welcoming when we arrived. The food was outstanding and well priced for the quality - we enjoyed everything enormously. Food was hot and served quickly but we were not rushed and the atmosphere was very relaxed. It was a perfect evening and we will definitely return when we are next in the Lakes - I recommend Lewis's to everyone.

Have been going here for years and have always had good food and drink so when we are in Grasmere we always make a point of calling in on numerous occasions

I have been coming to Grasmere for over 30 years and this was one of the nicest meals I have eaten here. We shared some sticky gingerbread, a savoury crepe and a breakfast ciabatta all of which I would recommend. The staff were also lovely and very accommodating.

Heidi’s is the friendliest cafe in Grasmere. You always get a warm welcome and doggy companions are extremely well catered for, with towels, treats and water bowls. Craig is an amazing host who works so hard with the rest of the team

Lovely little cafe on the shores of Windermere. We had toasties, homemade blueberry scone and coffee. All freshly made and super yummy. Lovely view of the lake.

Stunning setting, fantastic friendly staff and wonderful food. The owners clearly know what’s what. Sat outside with our dog in-tow - sunny day. You must have lunch here.

We have been to the picnic box on many occasions now, every time we visit Ambleside! We normally buy jacket potatoes and the home-made fillings are amazing both in quantity and quality. The overall price of the food makes this an extremely good value lunch. We will continue to use this as as our go to lunch when in Ambleside
