The best restaurants serving Other cuisines food in Ambleside and Grasmere South Lakeland North West

My wife and I are regular visitors to Grasmere and make a point of visiting Lucia's every time. If you're not familiar with their set up, they have a tiny takeaway shop on the village green and a larger shop around the corner where they have a few stools in the window where you can have a coffee and cake while watching the world go by. Their coffee is probably the best in Grasmere and their bacon and egg foccacias are to die for. Oh, and the cakes aren't bad either 😋. Take your own cup and you get 20p off your drink 👍🏽.

Couldn’t fault it. This was my first Michelin experience. Every single dish was beautiful. The price is actually cheap for how amazing the food is. Well worth it.

The veggie breakfast was gorgeous. Service was incredibly friendly and food was delivered quickly. I had the halloumi and avocado on sourdough toast and it was lush. Several offers to refill our teapot were much appreciated. We will revisit the next time we are in the area.

Delicious Italian food in the centre of Ambleside. I had lamb flatbread and my companion had the meatball sandwich. Both were deliciously and clearly homemade. Not straight out of the freezer. Generous portions and reasonably priced. Comfortable interior, clean toilet. Definitely recommend.

It’s was for a family birthday and a first visit to Greene’s Bistro Uppermill, we were not sure what to expect as we had only read the reviews but from start to finish we had a lovely time, our waitress Kayley was friendly, very helpful and added to the fab time we all had, the food was delicious and fresh, Greene’s what a wonderful idea well done the owners and the staff, will definitely visit again

Curried Parsnip Soup was the best we had ever tasted. Homemade scone with it or the Christmas cob. Wow!! Thanks again - we will be back

Our daughter likes this cafe so much that we did a 100 mile round trip for her birthday lunch today. The crepes are huge and a very wide gluten free range of food. Might not be the cheapest cafe but the quality is worth it in our opinion.

Walked out without ordering after being addressed by the rudest and most gratuitously unpleasant member of staff I have encountered in fifty years living in the area. We asked for a table for six and my daughter in law moved a couple of chairs to accomodate us, one of which was, to be fair restricting a passage between tables. A very pleasant waitress asked us to move it, which she was in the process of doing when a man claiming to be the manager came up and ranted at us in an extremely rude, aggressive, and unprofessional manner. Both my wife and I have worked extensively in hospitality in the area and were staggered by his approach. He clearly is unable to cope with dealing with people at busy times and should not be doing a job like this. Several others customers spoke to us on the way out expressing surprize and sympathy and another couple left without ordering immediately after us as they were so annoyed by his behaviour. Plenty of excellent places to eat in the village so I would certainly give Heidi's a miss.

Great food and great view although left heartbroken when closed on our last day. I only ever come here for you scone and hot chocolate but now left in pieces with my heart astray. God bless hope you open soon. P.S do delivery to fife will pay

Lovely coffee, great friendly service, superb views! Very nice gluten free cake. What a wonderful destination after a brisk walk around Grasmere on a bright frosty day. thanks to all who made our visit special.

Very friendly staff and brilliant food. The Hawkeshead chicken and pesto sandwich is excellent!

We have been to the picnic box on many occasions now, every time we visit Ambleside! We normally buy jacket potatoes and the home-made fillings are amazing both in quantity and quality. The overall price of the food makes this an extremely good value lunch. We will continue to use this as as our go to lunch when in Ambleside

This place is amazing!! Amazing atmosphere, amazing views and amazing staff! The menu is small but the choice is fantastic! The food never disappoints and would recommend everybody to visit when in Ambleside. If you struggle to walk there is a car park next to the cafe so no one need miss out. Our order got misplaced but the staff soon realised and offered complimentary coffee so was no bother at all we could enjoy our coffee whilst we waited for our lunch. Thank you for a great lunch and we shall see you again.
