My wife and I are regular visitors to Grasmere and make a point of visiting Lucia's every time. If you're not familiar with their set up, they have a tiny takeaway shop on the village green and a larger shop around the corner where they have a few stools in the window where you can have a coffee and cake while watching the world go by. Their coffee is probably the best in Grasmere and their bacon and egg foccacias are to die for. Oh, and the cakes aren't bad either 😋. Take your own cup and you get 20p off your drink 👍🏽.

Warmly welcomed and served quickly despite being busy. Coffee was delicious and served in a quirky cup with cute teaspoon, really nice attention to detail here. Sandwich was well filled and tasted (bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado). We ordered cakes to go - banana, choc and baileys and chocolate peanut butter. Both delicious!

Returned again and absolutely no drop off in standards of either quality of cooking or service here. Front of house still perfect combination of professional friendliness and kitchen - what can I say other than refer you to Aiden Waiting's excellent review below. He absolutely nails it. It's a small hard working restaurant working at the top of its game. If you're in the area make sure you get a table. Once again one of the best meals we've had for a long time. July 2024. Have been back a couple of times since I wrote this and nothing has changed. In fact better if that's possible.

Ordered 2 flat white coffees… took 20 minutes to make…. Coffee was way too hot to drink, it was bitter.Employ a Barista & they will know haw to make coffee, how hot the milk should be & how to clean your coffee machine….also your Barista can teach the owners how to run a coffee shop

We ate here on a Tuesday evening in March so it was very quiet but I have been before in summer and it can get very busy so would recommend booking. It has been a few years since I ate here but it was as good as I remembered. Food is bistro style which is perfect, tasty and some dishes with a twist. Service is friendly and well run. If you are in Grasmere this is a must to eat.

We have been to the picnic box on many occasions now, every time we visit Ambleside! We normally buy jacket potatoes and the home-made fillings are amazing both in quantity and quality. The overall price of the food makes this an extremely good value lunch. We will continue to use this as as our go to lunch when in Ambleside
