We had a lovely hot chocolate at Riley's on the Rows. It had an unspecified nutty flavour but was very pleasant. The decor inside is very British. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. However, there were some stacked chairs and a bit of a mess, which would have benefited from a bit of tidying up. The table wasn't clean and there was also a smell of cigarettes in the room due to the smoking area not being closed.

Visited today with family Ordered my daughter a hot dog and asked for no onions The woman that took the order confirmed this When I went to collect the hotdog was covered in onions I explained we’d ordered without onions The very ride and arrogant boy that works there shouted it’s not on the ticket and shoved the tray at me I looked at the woman that took the order and said you confirmed with me no onions ? She just looked away At no point did I raise my voice or become rude The boy then got very loud and derogatory towards me and started shouting When I asked why he was being funny / rude he said he wasn’t He was really nasty and told me to go away, waving his hands at me…. Very sarcastic tone telling to go sit down whilst he ensures a fresh one is made ‘darling’ and I’ll have to wait another 10 -15 mins now The other two staff were smirking and laughing I thought it was awful and if I hadn’t paid upfront ( and my daughter with a plain palate and her bday choice) I would have told him to stick the sausage where he clearly needs it as he has small man syndrome Didn’t have anything to say to my husband when he went to collect the next hot dog so only shouts at women ?! Wouldn’t mind but it’s cheap food to produce and they charge a fortune

Wonderful selection of donuts not only for humans but for pets too. They were delicious. Would visit again when we are in the area.

A cute, somewhat cramped, restaurant specialising in small plates and seems to have a passion for food, however I was left a bit disappointed by the whole experience. I ordered the tagliatelle in a mustard sauce but the mustard was very overpowering. Then croquets which were delicious and perfectly cooked and Welsh Beef which sadly never arrived. For dessert I orders the tiramisu but this was mostly cream and very underwhelming. Others on our table had mixed reviews but we all left with one common thought - very overpriced!! Service, in general, was very good but sadly my beef dish was missed.

We stopped by here for breakfast during a wander round the city. Staff were lovely on arrival and throughout our visit; the food was top notch, and the setting perfect - not too modern, not too rustic. Prices were very reasonable, especially for the quality and choice on the menu. And finally the toilets (an important part of any review): delightful, as toilets go, and clean.

This is such a quirky little hidden treasure to come and eat. The lady who welcomed us was so polite and sweet. Love all the little touches. I had an omelette and a pot of tea. The omelette was delicious and I tried my partners pancake with bacon and syrup and that was gorgeous. Reasonable prices and will definitely be coming back again

We had been recommended this cafe by our hotel reception as a great brunch spot. When we arrived, there was a small queue but we didn't mind waiting. After around 20 mins we had a table, with the caveat there would be a 40 minute wait on food. The cafe itself was very small with only 10 tables inside and 3 outside. There were three waitresses plus a barista and kitchen staff to service the tiny cafe so we were surprised about the long wait for food and drinks. One of our party's drinks was forgotten about so we had to prompt, and when the food arrived my eggs and beans were sadly cold. Was also surprised at the small portion size for a breakfast that cost £14 (only one sausage!!). The matcha latte was pretty grainy and came with whipped cream in an espresso cup on the side which seemed strange. I'm sure this cafe is lovely on a quiet day but was sadly disappointing this time.

We visited for my dad’s birthday as this is one of his favourite bars in Chester. We shared some chips & two cheese boards. Amazing value for money and came super quick! I have a nut allergy and staff were very accommodating and made it easy for me to eat here! Really like how it’s a wine bar downstairs and the beers out upstairs, brings a very cool & nice atmosphere to Chester !

Wouldn’t recommend Bartender was clueless, first order, ordered vodka and coke, got just coke and was charged for just a coke. 2nd order ordered a buffalo trace old fashioned, bartender starts making it with JD, only a 50% mark up difference on price. Clearly passing off drinks as being one product when actually made with cheaper brands. Passing off is against all licensing laws!
