As my family was ordering at the walk up window I stepped inside to look for a trash can for the Costa cup I had been carrying around for hours looking for a place to throw it away. Not seeing one I asked the man at the counter if he had a trash can. He responded something to the effect of “Sure I’ll throw your Costa cup away” took it from me and rolled his eyes. I was speechless and in hindsight wish I would have told the jerk that my family was buying his ice cream outside. I guess every lovely city has rude business men in it. Such a shame as my daughter was so excited to stumble on this ice cream place at the top of the stairs on the wall. We’ll try somewhere else next time. Hope the rest of your day went better sir!

When was the last time you did something for the first time, that was as good as a cup of tea and a slice of amazing cake in this special cafe with the most unique location? I finally got to visit for the first time recently and it was better than I had expected. The friendliest of welcomes and the tastiest of cakes I have had for some time. I was lucky enough to get the port hole seat and hear the story of how it came to be. It’s a lovely cafe with a carefully chosen decor that contributes to its special feel. A very welcome addition to the walls of Chester-highly recommend a visit to this cafe. I’ll definitely be back to try out all the different cakes!!

Evie and I have lived in Chester since 2017 and walked past Huxley,s probably thousands of times! I saw some photos online and today we embarked on romantic walk without children or Nannie ! I suggested to called in and we received a warm welcome from the ( i presume) owners and were promptly seated a small and comfortable table inside We ordered at the counter two Latte a scone and Bakewell Tart All looked and tasted homemade and were absolutely delicious A beautiful and charming venue that will become a firm favorite with a beautiful vista of the VR clock and city walls Highly Recommend

Finishing walking the walls with a friend and saw this place as we finished our circuit, and decided to pop in. The staff were lovely, and the place is small but very charming. We had a drizzle cake and some ice cream, which were both the proper stuff and were delicious. There was also a little window which offers a fantastic view of the historic High Street outside. Definitely recommend this little jewel in Chester.

Stumbled across Huxleys whilst walking the walls. What a great find. Super friendly owner who makes the beer he sells whilst his wife does the cake-baking. Had the best Bakewell tart I’ve ever tasted (and I’m somewhat of a connoisseur!) with large pot of tea. My wife’s large slice of coffee cake was equally scrummy. Get the table inside with the porthole view if possible.

After a pleasant walk around the city wall we passed this coffee shop just as we were approaching the clock. The owner just happened to be returning and he asked us inside for a drink. I am glad we agreed, we had a lovely coffee with honemade cake and rested our feet for half an hour. We were shown the fanous circular window with the view of the street and shops and engaged in conversations with other visitors. Its a very relaxed, cosy and sociable coffee shop. Attended Saturday night quiz. Arrived at 7:00pm. Started with a glass of red wine and Mediterranean platter followed by a to die for cheesecake( all food freshly cooked by Jason ( chef ) and the team. Wolfed the cheese cake down and realised I hadn't took a picture. Had a few more vino's during the quiz along with some banter with Jason and the regular customers. All tables were booked and nice to see a full house. Made a change to the average Saturday night and will certainly do it again. Would recommend to call in prior for some brekky or lunch to book quiz any day before or on Saturday. Quiz moved on quicker than your normal pub quiz which was great with the light banter and no typical interruptions from pub scene. Didn't win the quiz but enjoyed trying.

So delicious. Thank you :)

Our favourite place to come for brunch after football. The team, as always, went above and beyond with the orders for our family (all with different dietary requirements). The boys had the classic big breakfast with local products at a great price. I tried the weekend special eggs Benedict and it was amazing. The boys filled their boots. The girls enjoyed new things. The doorstop toast alone is worth the visit. Sadly, no room for my favourite one the menu - parsnip cake, but the cake-away option meant I could enjoy it later. We brought a friend for their first visit and she was blown away.
