Cafe Gate in Cheshire West and Chester

I found this little gem of a cafe whilst shopping on a cold November day my wife and myself went inside it was very warm and welcoming the staff were lovely and chatty I could only have a drink due to an abcess in my mouth the coffee was fantastic my wife had a bacon barmcake it looked delicious plenty of bacon and cooked fresh it looked and smelt gorgeous my wife thoroughly enjoyed it I’m definitely going back when I’m able the prices are fantastic also considering it’s in Chester well done ladies you’ve got a little gem xxx

Perfect Earl Grey tea. Top quality bacon actually cooked. Poached eggs on point. Can’t fault any element. Good cutlery and proper plates. Go there. It won’t be better anywhere else.

Lovely breakfast, good quality ingredients & great value - also a nice spot to watch the world go by in the sun. Staff are polite and helpful, nice atmosphere.

Popped in yesterday for a light lunch and to rest our feet after shopping! Great little cafe with good menu choices and friendly staff. We opted for sandwiches which come with side salad and coleslaw and all very tasty! Also noted good menu choices for breakfast. Great find in Chester! We will return.

Great value, never had mushrooms done as nice on a breakfast as here and the plate is hot which is always important Always try to go here for breakfast when in Chester

The staff were friendly, service was quick, food was lovely and came in a speedy manner. We sat in the window seat, which was nice to sit and look at all the surroundings, a lovely place for a cup of tea. The batch's are massive and taste lovely! Highly recommended this cafe.

As new residents, we're only just starting to negotiate our way round Chester and its various (numerous) eating places. Today we only wanted a quick snack. Husband had a bacon and egg sandwich and I had coronation chicken. Both were generous with their fillings and very tasty. Cappuccino was excellent too. The price was very reasonable for a town centre cafe. We will be back

What a wonderful little cafe. We had a great breakfast here. The ladies were friendly, the food was spot on and we left full and happy. I had the full English (2 bacon 1 sausage, 1 egg, mushrooms, beans, tomato, 2 toast with a pot of tea). My partner had a sausage and bacon bap and was very satisfied. Great value, very tasty. Would highly recommend and would have breakfast there again.

Three friends had breakfast here. Very small cafe and busy as they also do takeaways, so lucky to have seats. Sat at bench looking out of window which was great to watch world go by. All of us had poached egg on toast (2eggs and 2 toasts each) and I added baked beans. Freshly cooked and eggs were amazing. Best poached eggs I’ve ever eaten. Pot of tea with lovely china cups. Good service and very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit. Will definitely return.

Cafe Gate is small but friendly, with free Wi-Fi. In this season it closes at 3 most days but Saturday. Lovely server, kindly chased after us when I stupidly left my iPad on the table. Would definitely recommend for those weary travellers needing a cuppa and a sit down.

Always a nice brew here, and a great place to people watch, had food here before and it’s very good, not a big place inside but cozy.

Nice little cafe in Chester, been a few times but not in a while, nice owner and young lady working there, only had a tea and sat outside but had food before and it was fabulous, lot of choices in the area but seems to be holding it’s own!

We wanted a early breakfast and found this place. Lot to choose from on the menu. We had the “All Day English Breakfast”. This is very good value for money. Fast service.

We found this small cafe on our first morning in Chester. Being Cardi's we were not going to pay £16 each for a breakfast at our hotel so went out on a hunt. Couldn't have found a better place, lovely staff, excellent breakfast which set us up for the day and all at a reasonable price. We've been back since, and the staff remembered us which gives a personal touch. If you're staying in Chester give this place a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Popped in for lunch. It's a cafe, mainly sandwiches, soup, breakfasts etc but really good!!!! It's small but very friendly with lovely staff, good selection, fresh ingredients, very reasonably priced. If you want a sandwich and a coffee look no further.

We went here because it had such good ratings and can see why! A tiny cafe with only a few tables inside but we were lucky to get a table. We both enjoyed the full English breakfast. The quality of the bacon and sausage was excellent and the fried egg perfect! We got in just before the rush of all the building workers. It is a really busy place which we would highly recommend.
