I visited the cafe as a competitor in the Cheviot Goat ultra marathon, and they do an incredible job for looking after all the runners and event staff. The soup after 55 miles of moorland tastes like the best thing ever. A lovely location, with lovely people.

We have stopped off at this cafe on numerous occasions when passing and also staying at the Riverside Leisure Park over the road. On our last visit we called in for a takeaway coffee and cake. Unfortunately on this occasion the coffee was only really lukewarm. Not great as the prices are not particularly cheap. Will probably look elsewhere next time.

It was a lovely breakfast, however I asked for a itemised receipt as we was paying for our own meals also so I could check it. The serving lady joted down on the back of the the note pad she took our order on. I questioned the amount she went through it and I said that's OK. Which was all fine, until I went to the toilet and herd her moaning about me to a man in the kitchen. Which at the end of it he replied axxx holes I suggest if you want to moan about a customer wait until they leave. I found thus very offesive and upsetting. Having used this establishment several times this was disappointing.

Tripadviser rejected my first review, fair enough, I wrote it on the night I visited this pub and they have clearly complained about the review, but emotions run high when the quality of what you have been served is so appalling. When beer tastes like vinegar and you have to leave it, and simply leave the premises because to have complained would have attracted so much attention from the locals, says a lot about the atmosphere. What a trully dreadful experience this was. I have never been served such an awful pint of Wainwright, honestly it was so bad. Speaking to other landlords in Wooler, this isnt an issolated comment.. Perhaps if you are touring, or there shooting as I was, The Anchor, is more suited if you aren't a local, local....(if you get my drift)
