We came to the Muddy Puddle last night to spin a few records, to be honest, but we couldn't bring ourselves to leave. Ben and Phoebe have made the perfect local venue with a very laid-back but positive atmosphere. Between the buzzing bar upstairs, beautiful back garden, and intimate live music area downstairs, there are plenty of comfy corners for conversation/hanging out. The coffee was exquisite, the food looks excellent (we haven't eaten there, YET), but what totally make it stand out is the unique energy and personalities of the owners which permeate the place. If I lived nearby this would be my favourite haunt. Our (totally unsolicited) verdict: 11/10!

Great place, one of my favourite pubs in London! Went there last couple of times after watching the Arsenal and decided to go for post match drinks and food. It never disappointed, everything was top class, I love the Iberian touch, including the Portuguese tapas and the Madri beer on tap! I strongly recommend it for anyone visiting Highbury and around wishing to watch a match on the screens and enjoy some delicious food and drinks!

We held a small event at the Rose and Crown for our family and friends and it was fantastic. We were especially impressed with both the food and the service we received from all the staff working on the day. A special thanks to both Ian and Max for being so so helpful with all the organisation.

Hired the downstairs room for a leaving party and it was amazing! Such a perfect night with all of my friend’s!! Couldn’t recommend this place anymore. Was allowed to go early to decorate, could plug my own music in and we had access to our own bar! Everyone had the best time! Lovely staff too 😊 and the top it all off the drinks were a great price!! If you’re having a party you NEED to book this place.

Wow, what a transformation. We used to only come here if it was raining as it is a fantastic building but the service was so bad. The coffee is still the worst in SN. but you're not waiting 30 minutes for it and the staff are now some of the best in SN. The new manager is lovely and friendly and the staff are a ton better. The salmon bagel and vegan breakfast will now be a regular stop, even if we'll be bringing Finks coffee with us 😬 . So happy this is back on our radar again 👍

El "Fox reformada" está en el corazón de la bulliciosa Stoke Newington Church Street. He conocido el pequeño pub durante muchos años.

I visited Ribbons and Taylor Cafe today and have to say I was extremely disappointed by the experience. Priced a little cheaper than other cafes in the vicinity I had my reservations about the quality from the outset. Though this shouldn't necessarily have been an issue, you always wonder why the cheap eateries are, well, cheap. As it turns out it actually wasn’t that cheap. It was still a hefty £12.50 for an all-day breakfast. Prices in the Stokey can range from £10.50 up to 17 quid. I know, it's excessive! Anyhow, I shoved my doubts to one side and thought I'd give it a go as part of my staycation cafe tour. However, it wasn't long before I kind of wished I hadn't. The staff were friendly enough and though the front of the cafe was sparsely populated, the garden was pleasantly people, not too busy, well shaded and spacious. My orange juice arrived in a hefty Hoxton-style jar-jug and tasted much like a smoothie not a freshly squeezed juice. This seems to be a thing now, but what is wrong with old fashioned juicing. I really don't want my juice to have the texture of a frothy coffee. I just want juice. I was so thirsty though, I just drank it up through a soon-to-be soggy hard paper straw! The food soon followed. Too soon. Another bad sign! And yes, as suspected the whole thing had been either microwaved or double fried as the fried egg was solid, the bacon overdone and discoloured, the portobello mushroom pancake flat and cold, the beans, tomatoes and Cumberland sausage tepid & tasteless and the hash browns soggy. And, sin of all sins, the beautiful sourdough bread, which was probably the only quality ingredient on the plate, had been fried - in cheap tasting oil at that! Luckily for the staff I wasn’t in feisty mood and I was too hungry to send it back, but I actually left food on my plate, which is absolutely uncharacteristic for me. As I was on my laptop for a while after I ate (the Wi-Fi only works indoors incidentally – so I had to relocate), I chose not to complain and thought I would relay my commentary to staff when I left. However, having had to later decline the white wine offering, which consisted only of cheap Chardonnay, I requested a cider instead. I can only assume someone went out to buy it from the local offy as it took such a long time to arrive. When I eventually went to the till to pay, the staff could not be supply me with an itemised bill. They showed me the order chitty instead where I saw I’d been charged £6.50 for a fairly basic can of cider. I queried this and was told I had been charged the price of a bottled beer. Exhausted as I was with the experience at this point and presented with a £26.50 bill for the aforementioned food and drink plus a coffee, I thought I'd best email the proprietors with my thoughts on things prior to posting a review which I now felt obliged to do. They have no email listed online however. Hmmmmm! I’m keen therefore to hear what everyone else’s experience has been of the café. Maybe I visited on a bad day? Ultimately I figured I should have listened to my instinct. If there is no one eating in a place there is generally a very good reason why! Unfortunately Ribbons and Taylor won’t be getting any repeat visits form me, but hopefully they sharpen up their offering by the time you consider paying them a visit.

Consistently good food from this great neighbourhood takeaway and shop. The flat breads are particularly good. We used to enjoy eating in when there was seating, but it’s still great to go and get a coffee and a sandwich here. Highly recommend, whether you are vegan or not.
