Ryan's Bar in Hackney

Hired the downstairs room for a leaving party and it was amazing! Such a perfect night with all of my friend’s!! Couldn’t recommend this place anymore. Was allowed to go early to decorate, could plug my own music in and we had access to our own bar! Everyone had the best time! Lovely staff too 😊 and the top it all off the drinks were a great price!! If you’re having a party you NEED to book this place.

aggressive, drunken football idiots pub. Staff clueless. Sunday roast is appalling. other than that, not bad.

On 21st April 2022, my husband emailed Ryan’s N16 to book a table for 10 on Saturday 28th May, to celebrate his birthday and watch the Champion’s League final. On 24th May, he emailed Ryan’s N16 again to ask if we could add 5 more people to the booking. A staff member named Rob replied saying they may struggle to to hold the table because of the Champs league. My husband asked if this means the booking is not going to be honoured, because if that was the case then we would make other arrangements. A different staff member, Wiola, emailed this: “There are some tables booked for you, don't worry.  I will add one more extra  table for you . Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday !” We arrived at our booking on time to find that not only were there no tables reserved for us, the staff seemed somehow shocked by our presence. Someone managed to pull an extra table which could fit 4 people - but we were 15. We had to be split up across three different tables at different areas of the bar, so we couldn’t enjoy each other’s company. And it’s not like we could go anywhere else, because it was a Saturday night and the Champion’s League final, and everywhere else was also full. I understand that football matches draw big crowds. But if you knew that it wouldn’t be possible to honour the booking, why did your staff explicitly confirm it not once, but twice? If you had told us that you wouldn’t have been able to hold the tables for us during our initial email conversation, we would have gone somewhere else. If you had asked us to pay a deposit to secure the booking, we would have done that. If you had just been honest, or at least base-level competent, you wouldn’t have ruined someone’s birthday. I realise that you probably won’t have to deal with any real consequences. You probably made a killing last night, and that’s all that matters, I get it. But I hope that someone reads this review and avoids disappointment by going somewhere else. And I hope that the staff involved feel guilty that they ruined what was meant to be a special night for a really lovely person.

The venue is great, staff very welcoming and attentive. I visited few times as I live locally and always have similar experience. The food is nice, value for money and the outside garden is great and specious. I can recommend it, if you want solo outing or friends and family get together. Nice atmosphere.

We had a great time in this pub. The roast was tasty and the service was good. The spacious garden was a bonus too!

We enjoyed the back yard which is nice and spacious, but the food was poor, unfortunately. Calamari, bbq chicken (which tasted like boiled) and half burnt sweet potato chips were from hardly to just-about edible and definitely far from enjoyable

We hired the back of the Garden for my mums birthday. The staff were amazing throughout. They were easy to contact and talked everything through beforehand. On the day nothing was too much and they catered to our every need, evening running out to buy paper plates for us last minute. The staff here are amazing and the venue is great for any kind of gathering. I’ve had a few parties here over the years and have never been disappointed.

This place is like a dream wrapped in a wish. I couldn’t have wished for more accommodating staff - we turned up without a booking, but it didn’t ruffle their feathers. They made room, and we had a honking great night. I’ve put little thought into my funeral arrangements, but I wouldn’t kick up a stink if my ashes were scattered here. This is the place to be.

A great pub- friendly staff, delicious nibbles and the perfect garden to drink in, especially during the summer months.

Bloody love this place. Great staff, great beer selection, lovely ambience, brilliant in the summer - the garden is a hidden gem. They've got some nice board games to keep the kiddies entertained and loads of screens to show the footy. Food menu is decent too! the literal only single bad thing is the mac and cheese because they use mild cheddar and so it tastes like nothing, but to be fair - that is the kids menu and kids have rubbish pallets and i should probably order from the adult menu anyway.

Absolutley love Ryan's. As a sports fan, it's a dream. In summer their beer garden is amazing, filled with outdoor screens, part covered if the weather turns and has plenty of heaters. The staff and service are fantastic and they boast a cracking range at the bar - lots of lager, craft beer and real ale options. In winter, their cinema style basement is amazing for watching big matches on a whopping screen.

Great beer garden and indoor space with large open windows. Staff are always welcoming and very friendly. Great place to watch the football or just to enjoy time with friends

After originally thinking it was Brian’s N16, I noticed it was called Ryan’s N16 after a few drink and but at the end of the day it didn’t matter at the end of the day. Was met by a friendly salt waiter and which helped me to a table to sit. Beer garden was flavour in its appearance - nice astroturf surface with fruitful lights and shelter from the exhaustion of the brutalizing hailstorm that ruined my knapsack. The trees/plants made me feel as though I was in Barbados or something of that biome similar.... for the apperetif i had a brandy and some fish paste followed by my beers: guiness, neck oil and carpet recommended to me by dave and “the men” Despite having a mind-blowing remarkable time, many ruffians were football watching. Some of them spilled their beers all over the table. Splash! Next thint I know there was beer juice all over my newly purchased picnic hamper and fruit basket. This continual football watching was resulted in loud noise. And resulting in sadness on my end but only for a brief moment as Aresenal punished sheffield wedensday. Short discomfort from football uproar didn’t ruin my night- meals were excellent, fresh and all around atmospherically paste. I had a time and will definitely be making an appearance . In the near future : for/sure.

I visited Ryan's N16 a couple of weeks ago after an evening class for some dinner with a friend. I had the chicken wrap with the hand-cut chips and honestly, it was amazing! It was so tasty I had to come back the following week! The service is also really good and the venue has really adapted well in terms of covid restrictions. Definitely worth a visit.

El único pub en Church Street con un jardín adecuado donde puede sentarse, relajarse, beber y disfrutar del sol. Buena selección de cervezas y licores. Servido por un personal amable, pasamos una gran tarde de verano rodeados de gente como nosotros, claramente pasándolo muy bien. ¡Muy recomendable!

Me reuní con amigos en un día soleado para tomar algo en el jardín, un espacio increíble para relajarse bajo el sol. Algunos de nosotros decidimos comer algo y no nos decepcionó la selección de un pub, recomendamos la pizza y la hamburguesa de pollo con suero de leche, y una buena cantidad de calamares para compartir. Hemos decidido volver a encontrarnos el próximo domingo para probar los asados.

Really nice roast dinners with lots of veg and gravy! Garden is also really nice and big, perfect for drinks and food with friends.

The drinks are good but food was barely OK. Service was really mediocre. Garden is really nice so have drinks and enjoy but stay clear of the food.

This place is good for drink, but the food is not good. We ordered two burgers, nothing was fresh everything plain and without taste. They were not cheap neither I don't recommend this place.

Contraté el espacio en la planta baja para que mis mamás sorprendieran el 50 cumpleaños el pasado fin de semana.En primer lugar, el personal era increíble. Gracias a todos los que trabajaron esa noche. El espacio en sí es perfecto. Recomendaría a cualquiera que quiera contratar un local para echar un vistazo. Gran valor para el dinero y proporcionan comida si es necesario.Definitivamente volveremos a contratar.

Very comfortable surroundings and friendly staff. The Full Monty English Breakfast was first class and everything was well presented and very tasty.

Simplemente seguí mi camino a otro lugar y pensé que lo había dado antes, y me alegro mucho de haberlo hecho, esta comida fue excelente.Debajo de esta carga de tierna carne había zanahorias, queso de coliflor, un montón de papas asadas, puré de hierbas y col blanca, nada de esa cosa roja en escabeche, lo único que faltaba era puré de papas, aparte de que era maravilloso.

I cannot rate this place highly enough, especially the female staff who went above and beyond, nothing was too much for them and they were all so sweet. Went on the 18th Aug for my 34th birthday and they absolutely made my day (shame Arsenal lost) even put the boxing on for us and danced with me and friends. Good food, attentive and friendly staff and gin, what else could you need. Me and my friends will definitely make this our new favourite hangout.

Some chips fell on the floor. My group, afte ordering several bottles of wine, requested the chips, which were otherwise to be disposed of. The bartender/waiter, on his trial shift, entered into a verbal agreement to provide my group with the floor chips. In spite of the agreement, he disposed of the floor chips, leaving us feeling severely disappointed.

Have been in the eve for drinks. Some guys who seemed to be very well known amongst staff and other guests behaving very rudely to ladies in our party and other groups. One in particular was so drunk he was helping himself to other people's drinks and making quite a nuisance of himself. Very bizarre that staff did nothing about this as they could see what was happening.Gave it a second chance for a family Sunday roast, I was very disappointed that both the chicken and potatoes where not crispy. Kids meals v poor quality too. Drinks that were unavailable still on the bill. Some good waitresses and some terrible. Also just noticed they have a 2* hygiene rating. Will not return.

He visitado muchas veces pero no había sido en un tiempo. El servicio era tan increíblemente lento y no había mucha gente pero se tardaba unos 15 minutos en llegar bebidas en un bar vacío. La comida solía ser bastante bueno tailandesa. Es cambiado a hamburguesas y comida de pub. Todos totalmente insípido y la carne en la carne de hamburguesa estaba crudo en lugares. También llegamos a veces diferentes, así que no pudimos comer juntos. No hay disculpa para eso. Una pena, ya que el jardín de la cerveza es increíble. Volvería para una bebida bajo el sol, pero sin duda no es la comida. Todos nos sentimos un poco harto después de que, para ser sincero. Solucionar la cocina y el servicio.

Amazing brunch, would definitely recommend the chicken and waffles. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Huge garden out the back which is great in summer. GO AND GRAB SOME BRUNCH!

Cada vez que voy a Ryan's estoy siempre sonriente. Las bebidas son crujientes y frescos y la comida es de fuera de este mundo. El jardín es enorme, Estoy tan emocionado para el verano. El café es delicioso y hasta tienen una habitación de la planta baja en vivo que es genial en los días de partido. (También es muy escondido del restaurante para que nadie se moleste). Mi lugar favorito para frituras y asados - Nelson/Pollo asado.

Vinimos a probar algunos de los nuevos menú brunch y fue increíble. Tenía el vegetariano como he decidido a convertirse en vegetarianos y no pierda la carne. Muy bien cocinado champiñones y tomates, aguacate, gran salchicha maravilloso y todo lo demás. También un servicio realmente bueno por gente muy agradable.

Had a lovely brunch at Ryans, salmon and avocado on toast was gorgeous and the bloody mary was to die for - all in a great location and lovely staff! Will definitely go again and 100% recommend!

Had the most bizarre experience again in Ryan's yesterday. We have been going to Ryan's for years as it's close to work but over the last three weeks many of us are growing increasingly annoyed by the crazy decisions taken by the landlord. I experienced this for myself yesterday: I was told that they were no longer showing football upstairs as 'people wanted to eat'. Why the hell these two things can't happen side by side is beyond me. But, most importantly, this pub seem to be forgetting who they are and what they do. There are more than enough sub standard gastro pub style places on church street alongside some great ones. Ryan's has the biggest garden, used to have slightly cheaper drinks and was the type of place where you could get reasonable food and watch the match, tennis etc - especially in the summer as they had a TV in the garden. Please Ryan's rethink this decision. You are not a foody pub and never will be. Not a single person was even eating! You will never be the Rose and Crown, The Lion, or even compete with the new Clissold Tavern as 'hipster', Gastro venues. Get back to doing what you do best. You were once one of the only 'real' pubs in the area. If this continues, something tells me the Auld Shillelagh is about to get a whole lot busier.

Pequeño lugar con un increíble jardín de cerveza. Magnífica comida, especialmente las costillas, son algunas de las mejores que he probado en Londres. La planta baja es un bien equipado e íntimo local de música en directo, que tiene algo de buena música. Gran lugar para ver el fútbol si eres un fan de arsenal.

Buscando conciertos, elegí hacer el viaje a N - 16 a descubrir algunas bandas desconocidas. Tuvimos un par de pintas y un gran Green curry tailandés antes de ir al sótano. Y ME PARECIÓ la oferta de barril bastante bueno. Lo siento, no me gusta la cerveza que elegí, debería conocer mejor, mi error. Pero bueno, si no probar lo que es de grifo, nunca encontrarás de todos modos

Ryan's bar ha sido relativamente reciente y mucho mejor. Con posiblemente uno de los mejores jardines de la cerveza en N 16, Ryan's maximiza esta característica excelente con amplias mesas y sillas, sería bueno tener una zona de no fumadores, aquí.

Increíblemente grosera, aburrido, el personal desagradable. Completa falta de conciencia de aceptable servicio al cliente. Es una pena que los individuos pueden arruinar un lugar potencialmente en una buena ubicación. Pero sugeriría otros bares de la zona que los clientes de la válvula. Tan decepcionado.

Sólo me encontré con este lugar. Un gran jardín soleado que no puedes esperar de un bar de la calle High.

Una cerveza en un amplio jardín desierto jardín. Hay una buena selección de cervezas y otras bebidas. La comida tailandesa es por encima de la media. Brooklyn la de grifo, así que estoy feliz!

It's not a traditional corner pub and is thus quite narrow.but it has good seating areas on various levels and a great beer garden,unfortunately let down by its neighbouring property.Good selection of all the drinks you could want and the Thai kitchen produces some great budget priced gems.

Stopped here for drinks. Good selection. Good music. Not enough seating though. There is an upstairs and downstairs an outside garden and some benches out front but is very busy on the weekends so could not sit down. Otherwise all was good.

In the lovely area of Stoke Newington, in this bar it's possible to find a selected choice of beers, including the Brooklyn Brewery Lager, also downstairs there is a stage for dj set and special GIGs. Really recommend for a dinner with friends if you love hamburgers.

I have been to Ryan's Bar a number of times with colleagues. It has a fantastic and relaxed atmosphere for all to enjoy. They specialise in Thai food but do do burgers etc. The food is really fresh and very well cooked. Plenty to eat considering the price. There is quite a large beer garden outside with a large seating area with chairs and Sofas for a group or tables and benches for smaller groups. The music, vibe and staff are great.If you are in the area with friends this is definitely a place to visit for a drink.
