Pret A Manger in Hackney

Had a great start to the day here. A lovely latte and chocolate croissant served by the wonderful Emily. A real ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.

I agree with other reviewers, the hot 'chocolate' is diabolically bad - weak and tasteless! The Brie and basil baguette was as fab as when I used to buy it 18 years ago but I won't bother buying a hot drink here again. It was at least a nice temperature in contrast to the cold rain outside so should have provided some respite while waiting for someone however it was plagued with tiny little flies (fruit flies most likely) that rather spoiled my wait. Overall disappointing and I won't return.

Lovely place and very convenient to grab your lunch here. The staffs are friendly. It can be quite packed during the lunch time so better to avoid it.

Always a good, calm environment. Just wish they would have enough people on for hot drinks. It only takes one person to order an iced drink, and we all wait ages!

Unfriendly, unhelpful, rude staff. They hate making the cold drinks so make excuses. Club Pret is pointless when half the menu is unavailable

Coffee good. Cake good. But why no proper cups for inside drinking. Is this a pret thing? No excuse for using disposable cups when stopping inside.

Great cafe, use it to work in and meet my husband for lunch, good selection that varies a manageable amount so standard options but bit of a mix of salad sometimes. Staff absolutely lovely and WC well maintained. Lots of seats. Not many plug points is only drawback so make sure laptop charged if working and keep an eye on the spots (by the loo and and just to the right opposite entrance) the points are if needed.

Bad customer service! I went to the toilet after ordering an iced latte, there was a queue so it took about 10 mins. Came back to the counter with no iced latte, when I asked the cashier, they’ve given it to someone else thinking it was theirs. They had to make it again and when she passed me the drink, the barista gave me an attitude, said I should’ve collected within few minutes after it was served. When I say I went to the toilet, she rolled her eyes and went away. I wish I got her name but I didn’t. Please train your staffs better, Pret. Coffee was okay hence the 2 stars.

I like Pret quality but something is wrong with the opening hours. Today I went 7:40pm but was told it was closed. The sign says it closes at 8pm. When does it close?! That's not the first time this happens to me at Pret.

Large and light. Helped by a very friendly and customer focused cashier. Good coffee. Nice large windows and light but not a place to sit and relax for a while as it is more a grab and go place perhaps?

I have been drinking Pret coffee for a year now and recently it feels like they’re skimping with the amount of coffee they give. The cup is never filled properly to the top and there’s always way more foam than it should have. Today I ordered a coffee however 1/3rd of the cup was empty. The first centimetre had no coffee or foam so you already get less coffee and even after that, there was a lot of foam before you could actually get to the coffee. The other day I ordered a wet oat latte and my latte had the amount of foam a their normal latte would have. I couldn’t inform the staff as I had already left before I checked my coffee. Next time I guess I should check my coffee right at the counter. However even if I inform the staff it’s not going to solve the problem for long term. So the message needs to go from management.

Nice place but a bit expensive for the amount of food.

I am in Pret A Manger now in Old Street area, London. The staff are nice. I ordered hot chocolate but it was very watery. So I told a member of staff and they changed it. It is an 'ok', hot chocolate, much like you can make at home. It cost £3.45 and really, it is not worth this high price ( in my opinion). As everyone knows, I don't like to complain, but I just like to be honest. Whilst sitting here, there were many customers coming in and some ordering hot chocolates. Maybe I am fussy, or I have had much better hot chocolate and am spoilt 🤔 Anyway the great thing about reviews is that it comes down to personal tastes and opinions. So that's mine. BTW the plastic lids are not very pleasant smell, so I took my off to drink my hot chocolate.

Came in for the almond butter bowl but not available. Only 2 vegan breakfast options other than fruit ☹️

I've visited this place almost every day while living in Old st. The inside is not that spacious but the place isn't packed that much so I kind of enjoyed every visit.

Arrived at 6 pm and it was closed.

Nice and clean . But there aren't enough outlets. Make sure your electronics are fully charged before going .

Good place to have a nice cup of hot chocolate as we were too early for hospital appointment. Just across the street. Quick service and friendly staff =).

I vist Pret quite often, and I really have to compliment the service of Woody!! His service is first class, very warm and friendly. I have noticed that he approaches all the customers with high level of enthusiasm & energy, which is sometimes rare to find. It's so nice to see someone like him who's so passionate in anything he's doing. Ive noticed that he treats his co-workers with the same warmth!! :) So lovely and pleasant to see someone like that at Pret. Makes me want to come back to this particular Pret time and again. :)

Coffee was hot, which is rare these days. Could do with a bit better organization when you pick your coffee up, you pay, but they don't take your name do anyone ordering the same drink as you is pot luck who gets it first. Other than that is good.

Super slow service, not particularly well trained staff

is a chain of stores spread across England. It's a store with organic and fresh products, everything in it pleases me, the only thing I don't like is that they put mayonnaise in the sandwich, mayonnaise is not a good food because it is made from pure oil and it is too harmful to the body by clogging the veins!

Queue management is poor, long delays waiting for hot drinks on some days with many new, untrained staff and baristas. I have a dairy allergy and when ordering a black filter, they added dairy milk in this. I told them I had an allergy, they apologised and just replaced. They really don't care about allergens which is totally unacceptable with Pret's appalling track record.

Slowest coffee shop in the world

A pret a manger located right opposite moorfields eye hospital. Lovely interior with a large Seating area , and easily accessible via public transport as near to Old street station. A large variety of food available hot and cold aswell as hot and cold drinks. Quick service and it was clean inside even though the usual busy lunchtime rush and the food was stocked which is a good sign lolz. Alternative milk choices available for hot and iced drinks only not blended. I do recommend popping in for a quick coffee or a bite if you’re travelling past and hungry, or waiting long in the hospital.

My partner had an appointment at Moorfields eye hospital, so i had to stay here, very nice surroundings, plenty of seating, friendly staff. All very clean, food was good, I had a filled roll tuna and cucumber very moist. Flat white coffee and a Belgium cake. Delicious, would definitely go again.

What can you say. It's Pret. The experience is how Pret is. It's fine.

The place is busy for a reason. Great prices and tasty toasties! The line may look long but they buzz through it in no time. We went to several locations and they were all good.

Very nice and fresh food, but tables were dirty (not busy hours though), music too loud and freezing air conditioning (despite 16 degrees outside). Well below Prêt à Manger standards

Friendly staff. Excellent "on the go" breakfast food. Better than Starbucks! Had breakfast there every morning of my stay and I loved it.

Some staff discriminate against customers. especially, two (black hair) women who work today (spring bank) were so rude. one saw my order on the digital board, but ignored it and left her position. The other one put the coffee on the in front and didn't say anything but chatted with another colleague. They are not owners. But why are they acting like a king to a customer? These actions ruin the image of the UK. Please don't release your racism to customers.

Served at till by a team leader Sean, super polite and nice person. Will return absolutely after this amazing customer service.

If I could I would give - star rate. I had order mozzarella croissants x 2 for my children to eat but I received a sandwich with tomato and cheese. I had called the shop one of the lady had said to me to keep the sandwich as a present.

Today is really hot, and is a sleepy afternoon.I decided to buy some drinks.Then I came to this prêt à manger,I want a cold drink but there seems just have few options,then I ask if I can buy a cold peppermint,the stuff said they never try cold peppermint before but they’d like to have a try on it,and here comes the very beautiful peppermint beverage!!The shop is really in high quality,they said because they never try it before so they give it to me for free.How sweet!!And I have to say this is really delicious and I will definitely choose it again for next time I want to get a drink. I absolutely love this place. Everyone is friendly, and my drinks always end up perfect!

Evening staff always seem to have time for bantering rather actually serving anyone. Every Monday evenings when I visit (for lack of alternative choices) it seems disorganized and not really interested in waiting customer

Grabbing a coffee should be easy and there is not much you can get wrong, however many coffee house seem to frustrate me. Pret A Manger seems to get the little things right.

Mostly simple food, well executed. Egg mayonnaise sandwich - neither too soggy, nor too wet. Oat/raisin cookie - chewy and still slightly warm from baking. Cool/chilled still water. Speedy and pleasant service. Thanks.

A very clean and efficiently operated eaterie. I couldn't find any test rooms, a bit disappointed! The food and coffee was good.

Great coffee place, nice and spacious inside. But can be very very busy at times and because it is the opposite side of Moorfields there can be times a lot of patients are waiting here. Just be aware

I think is outrageous the Pret staff letting the homeless come in to the cafe and disturb the clients. It happened not only once nor twice but several times. I just do not feel safe coming anymore!

Used this cafe for convenience as directly opposite hospital and am familiar with this brand. This is definitely a no frills place: no table service, no trays, no plates, and strictly one paper serviette per customer. No receipt was offered when paying. As for cleanliness, there was no evidence of a routine for clearing and cleaning tables. The table where I sat was not particularly clean and I only saw one table wiped while I was there. There was a swing-bin with no lid by the counter that was overflowing. At one point a female staff member trod in the bin to push the rubbish down. Eventually it was emptied. I did not chance using the toilets so cannot say how clean they were. I had a cheese toastie which was okay. Milk is not given to customers, the servers add this to the hot drinks. I had tea and although I left the tea bag in for 5 minutes my drink was like a cup of hot water with milk added. And apparently the cafe allows dogs inside - as I was leaving a customer was queuing and had a dog on a lead with him. Visited between 2.45 and 3.15 pm so not peak time. I will not be using this branch of Pret a Manger again.

I just moved into the area and I like to go to the cafe in the mornings and work from there. I have no other complaints exist that the guy who works there - I don’t know if he is the manager or not - Mike, is EXTREMELY RUDE! I have seen him behave like this with other clients on numerous occasions - taking as if we are disturbing his peace by being at the cafe, and today he screamed at me for not sitting at the counter for my drink, giving the fact that I was still on the table right next to and the line was very long and I didn’t want to cause a disturbance.

They need to clean the tables after use. Apart from that food, service and WiFi was good.

Is a chain of coffee shops that has nice products, even though the coffee is not he best one did really good, at most with the subscription of £20 a month for unlimited cafeteria beverages(including frappes, smoothies, cappuccinos, hot chocolate, teas and teas...a su can have up to 5per day n u must have at least 30 mins between each drink). Besides the drinks they also have sandwiches, salads, wraps and soups(their vegeterian soups are delicious). Very important area to improve is that they need more workers. Happens to me often that they are super overwhelmed or forgetting your order as they have queues the entire day and work nonstop. THEY DONT SO SMOOTHIES NOR FRAPPES IN THIS PRET.

It's very rare that i leave a 1star review. And it's very rare that I am this disappointed. Firstly - the majority of the staff here are very polite and accomodating - and friendly - but it just takes that 1 - to ruin the experience - and when they ignore the chance to resolve the issue - that's when even 1 star is generous. I signed up for the coffee subscription at Pret - the first month is free thankfully. in the first week the ice machine broke on a warm day - these things happen and the staff were polite - so this was acceptable. But what Pret has to remember is that their subscription cost is high and coffee is not their forte, and - they have a lot of competition - both down the street and next door. Fast forward to last week, after a stressful day i went to Pret for a cold drink. I asked for a cold coffee. So did a fellow coffee drinker next to me. I was given a hot coffee. I told the person serving me who took the order - who immediately engaged himself in trying to upsell rather than getting my order right. What was his response? " well you should have said you wanted the iced one." He said this in an unbelievably rude tone. I handed the hot drink back and he ordered an iced coffee for me. He then asked me to pay for it as it was within half an hour of my previous subscription order. I told him not to bother. Seeing what happened, my follow coffee drinker also corrected the staff member - and said she wanted the ices version. Because hers had not been completed - she didn't have to pay for a second coffee. The subscription isn't free - there is a monthly fee - so why should i have to pay twice for the drink? what sort of customer service is this? Clearly the staff member struggles to understand coffee orders as both myself and this other customer assumed cold meant it would be from their....cold range? But he as too busy upselling. So i have cancelled my subscription. The employee could have provided me with the "not free" drink without me having to pay twice. Instead he threw both my hot and cold drink out - and i left, having had a subscription, but with no drink. Very very disappointed. I have cancelled my subscription minutes after this happened last Thursday afternoon. Have i returned since then even though i had 10 days left in my current month's subscription? No - as a matter of principle. Pret benefitted from me buying lunch there from time to time too - but after this extremely poor service - and of course being sold a subscription that doesn't deliver, why would i return? There is a real emphasis in upsell. Perhaps they should deliver what the subscription offers first - and offer certain staff members training on customer service, manners and politeness too. For me, there's Starbucks down the street or Costa from Sainsburys next door too.

The ice machine for the store has been broken for a month (if not longer) now and still not fixed yet. It is rather disappointing in summer when you visit the store want to have iced drinks only get informed there is still no ice everyday. Does any staff or company plan to do anything about the broken machine?

Just had lunch in this pret, they were so helpful with my dietary requirements and found things. I could eat. Very very kind and positive experience :)

I have been to worst cafe with the most terrible customer service but have to say this is ‘THE WORST’ cafe I have been to...the dark lady with dreads were just rude and sounded like she did not even want to serve me making frustrating face when she could not understand what I am saying...I thought she might just not be in the mood but seems she can smile and laugh and talk nicely as that is what she has done right after taking my order with her colleague. I know this is a franchise and all but if your employee is going to laugh and smile with only work colleagues and then just become pure rude and not interested in your customer then there is a serious problem....very disappointing even thinking of cancelling the subscription as this is the only Pret I can go before work, might as well pay more to go better cafe with staff who is willing to serve customers with a smile.

Poor service from a dark lady. Tried to be patient, but she is consistently rude and ‘misunderstands’ orders so often that it seems suspicious. 5/5 of the last orders she took were WRONG. Fire her - this used to be the best Pret in the area...

Opens early enough and is always well staffed good size store, clean and tidy. Staff usually polite.

This is my favourite place to eat, have a break and a great coffee.. the team is amazing, everyone from managers to barristas are always nice and friendly, smiling even in busy times... Honestly, Pret, you need to reward your Eagle House team, they work so hard! I've been coming since the place open and hope it's there to stay 😊 However you need to keep your opening hours updated, this branch close at 3pm on Sunday, with the current situation, Pret management should be more considerate about customers arriving at the shop and the door is shut, just change the opening hours!

Probably the worst pret in the area. Massive queue and team not prioritizing customers is normal here. But today I've been charged for the wrong product and was asked to stand aside while they sort it. After 10 minutes of nobody even came to ask what's happening, I had to check 2-3 times before the guy in black shirt decided to talk to me. He refunded the product, charged for the other one, no apologies, didn't want to give me my receipt until I literally had to explain that I needed it and I'm in a hurry. He managed to have a semi sarcastic comment at the end which I didn't catch fully, probably for the best. Good ol' Pret hospitality is not the strength of this branch - if you have time, go for the Veggie Pret a few street down as they're always polite and kind, no matter how busy the morning is. 2 stars as the selection of the food was good.

Nice staff but too cold in store when trying to work

The great Pert A Manger chain, with their great selection of sandwiches, healthy food, drinks and for sure the best chain coffee there is. This specific branch is one of my favorite and I think one of the best in London. Always clean, holding the extra menu with always full. The team is really caring, friendly and welcoming. Enjoy :)

In pret in old street there is a wonderful latin american woman called diana that every moring is so kind and lovely and she makes my day ! And my tumeric latte :)

Product and service is as expected. Nothing to boast and complain about. Just a simple place to stop by for a coffee or snack if you happen to be passing by. Place was clean, service was as expected and the product is what it claims to be. I gave 4 stars for this because the system does not allow one to give a 4.5 rating which is what I really feel about the place. I'd have given a 5 had the coffee been better.
