I used to come here a lot and loved this café, but it's really had the heart ripped out of it and is now not cosy, not friendly, and the food and coffee is also worse. Miss the old Ribbons and Taylor! Used to be a gem of Church Street, now not worth a visit.

Second time I’ve been, equally enjoying as the first. Delicious simple food at a very reasonable price. Will be making this a regular! Highly reccomend.

It was the most disgusting breakfast I've ever had, and I got poisoned from the salmon. I will file a complaint if necessary. I hope they are reviewed soon.

What a gem of a cafe. In my opinion the best in Stoke Newington. Have been here a few times and the staff are friendly, helpful and extremely good at what they do. Their toasted sandwiches are a very good size, tasty and served piping hot. Very reasonably priced too. Highly recommend.

I’ve been here many times and have this place to thank for getting me through my dissertation! Used to love to set up my laptop here for a few hours. The place has been taken over recently and the staff seem friendly but something is missing. The place used to be quite kitsch and it’s lost some of its charm. I’ve got to admit I miss the old staff, they just brought a real diverse, relaxed and friendly vibe to the place. Also I noticed that the comedy nights haven’t been running lately! No one likes change though and I’m sure that the new owners have great things planned for the place :) It remains a great place to hang out (with a garden) on stoke Newington church street and in easy reach of all the lovely shops and clissold park :) Food choices are varied and the cakes and pastries on offer are fantastic! Check it out!!!!

Geoff and I were made very welcome, when we met the couple who took over from the previous café owner, and are now among the group of regulars, they have added to the menu, and want to have entertainment there, as they are continuing to host the comedy events there also. we recommend this café to anybody new to the area

Great tea, coffee and food - especially their homemade fruit muffins 😋 And the staff are friendly - what more could you want from a cafe ?

I love everything about this place. Really good coffee, amazing freshly baked bread and pastries, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Try their mini pizzas, chorizo sausage rolls or date scones to name but a few of my favourite things. They make lovely fresh and fruity cakes and chocolatey muffins too. Staff friendly and efficient. Great loo!

There are lots of tea rooms in Stoke Newington Church Street and friends suggested this one. It's very friendly with an excellent selection of scones and cakes. Good selection of tea and coffee as well. Thoroughly enjoyable time there. Happily go again.

Why go anywhere else on Church street when you can go to the only cafe where ALL the delicious pizzettas, quiches, cakes, pastries, bread are baked daily on the premises by leading pastry chef Alex Ross, formerly at that famous Granita restaurant in Islington. The coffee, atmosphere, garden and of course free WiFi add to it being the best cafe in Stoke Newington. Whether I want breakfast lunch or tea this is the place I now go to and I’ve tried them all! Monthly comedy nights are great and the availability for venue hire - I had the best birthday party there which they catered for - add to its appeal.

This used to be part of two cafes in the area the other (Kauri Tree) has now closed and all moved to this larger premises. Staff are friendly and helpful food is still good quality and the coffee is good, they have a nice little courtyard at the rear to be able to sit outside in the good weather.

Waited for an hour to get a table, food was not good and very oily. Took ages, forgot part of our order. £25 main, £8.59 for a tiny glass of wine, no bathroom. After waiting for 1.5 hours for a table and another 1.5 for food we had to run to a bar nearby and buy a drink there so we could use the bathroom.

Big shame they stopped their fish and chips, which was excellent with a gluten free option. Tthey now have pizza- which you can get anywhere. On the plus side,b they have GF beer on tap and have resisted changing the nice interior over the years...

Good little grocery store with quality products. We went there several times during our stay in London. Special mentions for: Vegas Choc Macaroons, Black Forest Cake, Lemon Cake, The Pack of Yorkshire Tea, and the Sparkling Water (like “Peach & Mango” and “Lime & Ming”). The Gammon Ham & Farmhouse Cheddar Cheese sandwich is also excellent. Good time range. Price a little high, but that’s London!

Since having new owners and a refurb, The Coach and Horses in Stoke Newington is now hands-down one of the best pubs in the area and an absolute must-visit for anyone who appreciates a proper pint in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. From the moment you step inside, you can tell this is a place that truly cares about quality – especially when it comes to drinks. The selection is top-notch. Particular credit goes to their choices from Pressure Drop and Deya. Whether you're after something crisp and sessionable or a bold, juicy IPA, there's always something exciting on tap. Beyond the stellar beer, what really sets The Coach and Horses apart is the vibe – friendly, relaxed, and full of character. Much of that is thanks to Mark, the manager, who is clearly passionate about what he does. Mark runs the place with the perfect balance of professionalism and charm – always up for a chat, genuinely welcoming, and clearly committed to making everyone feel at home. You get the sense that he’s curated not just a drinks list, but a community. In short: great pub, amazing beer, and an even better team. The Coach and Horses is a local treasure – long may it thrive!
