Absolutely banging. Fantastic food, great service, spotlessly clean and wonderful value for money Everyone, including customers, are so friendly and inviting

Very disappointed. Unfortunately the Red Lion has gone down hill in the last few months. Not a great choice on the menu especially if you are not keen on burgers. The portions were small and you had to order fries as extras which made it quite expensive. Will not returning anytime soon if the menu remains the same. Such a shame.

We arrived in Fakenham following a 5 hour drive to view some Norfolk properties for sale. We had originally booked accommodation in a different establishment but found the room unsuitable. We called in to the Crown and enquired if there were any rooms available. Ben and Tania quickly and highly efficiently found a room we could stay for the night and while Ben showed my partner the car park, Tania kindly paid the charge on her phone, as she had the app, and I reimbursed her. My partner then moved the car from the original establishment and we settled into the bar having been helped so much by them both. There was a fine selection of beers etc and an excellent menu. We particularly enjoyed chatting to Tania, Ben and some of the locals. After having an excellent meal we retired to our room. The room was spotless, warm and the bed lining was top quality enabling a good night’s sleep. Breakfast is included in the price and found the full English cooked beautifully by Chef Aiden delicious. His attentiveness to the diners was excellent and he was a genuinely nice chap. In short, great room, great food and with such a great team in Tania, Ben and Aiden, I fully recommend staying at The Crown.

No care from the staff,rubbish coffee

This was our second consecutive Friday visit for the early evening bargain menu. We both had the excellent smoked haddock, leek & asparagus risotto followed by lovely mango panna cotta. Where else can you do this and (should you so choose) watch a bowls match at the same time? The bar staff are friendly and welcoming. We have also been here for our wonderful garden club annual dinners, our weekly yoga sessions and occasional coffee & sausage roll meetings with friends. How do they do it all so well? Spot on! Just great value, and always great service, with smiles! We had burgers, fish and chips, and steak and chips, and all with drinks, and the bill was around £32! Brilliant, and nice building, too. Just fits into the area. Shame about Fakenham itself, as I remember this as a nice little market town. The council needs to invest, and deal with the empty shops. North Walsham is now lovely. Shame it didn’t get the Wetherspoon’s it was going to!
