Cold night.4- Outside and heating struggling to heat room.spent most of night under the covers. Bathroom cold no heating shower was electric and slow. Had to run water in tap for a minute to get hot. Such a waste of water. On the Plus side the bed was super comfy and breakfast 🥞 was surperb. Good location had to park in bridge street just around the corner for £6 24h..My Chips is in the corner and a must try. Fabulous fish and chips.. wetherspoons is just before carpark for a cheap drink. probably would come back for a summer stay. £81 included all you can eat breakfast was pretty good value. Shame about the cold.

Lovely local pub,basic facilities but the staff,the locals are fantastic,very helpful and polite. great for dogs very dog friendly my dogs loved it.will definitely go again.

The Crown very kindly hosted our works Christmas party!! We had a carvery which was amazing there was 24 of us and they very kindly kept the kitchen open later to accommodate us!! We then carried on our evening with a bit of Kareoke. Tanya, Pete and Dean were amazing they made sure we had a night to remember !! Thank you all so much !!

Enjoyed a tasty Friday fish supper courtesy of Aidan. Very enjoyable soft flaky fish and crunchy chips. Great service by all the staff- friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend ⭐️

We arrived 50 minutes early for the 15.00 check in for our room and we were greeted by an unfriendly woman who told us we could pay £20 for an early check in!!! We went to Costa which was warm and friendly and had free WiFi. There is no wifi in this hotel and we couldn’t get 4G/5G in Fakenham. Room was warm but our second room was cold and the radiator didn’t work.We were told they would give us a heater but it needed to be returned!! Carvery …. Meet sliced by a lovely man. Wide choice of vegetables which had been standing a long time. Breakfast…. Self service food but eggs cooked freshly by a friendly chef. Hotel is desperate for renovation with chipped paint and mould on the windows. No car parking but public car park close by. £6 for 24 hours.

WOW IS ALL I CAN SAY 🤩 Coach full of 51 of us came in for a carvery Very well organized the manager even jumped on the bus and spoke on the mic, explaining everything and making sure the lady with an allergy was notified of how everything was going to happen… And made sure we all got on the bus safely, then worked her socks off the whole time…. Nothing was to much. Carvery and mulled wine was delicious. But the team was the best part of it like a little family… if we didn’t live so far away it would definitely become our local… Tania even managed to talk us into coming for a weekend for the bands and happy hour 😆… Also very dog friendly… spoke to a lovely young waiter brenson constantly asking if everything was ok and if we needed anything. Will definitely be back down soon 🤩

Went for Christmas lunch with friends, food was not edible, pastry couldn’t cut , veg and roast potatoes so hard couldn’t cut them, most of the food was left, I spoke to owner saying this and she cut me off saying the food was ok, she was very rude and VERY unprofessional,for me and my friends total amount of Money for this inedible food was £416.00

We arrived in Fakenham following a 5 hour drive to view some Norfolk properties for sale. We had originally booked accommodation in a different establishment but found the room unsuitable. We called in to the Crown and enquired if there were any rooms available. Ben and Tania quickly and highly efficiently found a room we could stay for the night and while Ben showed my partner the car park, Tania kindly paid the charge on her phone, as she had the app, and I reimbursed her. My partner then moved the car from the original establishment and we settled into the bar having been helped so much by them both. There was a fine selection of beers etc and an excellent menu. We particularly enjoyed chatting to Tania, Ben and some of the locals. After having an excellent meal we retired to our room. The room was spotless, warm and the bed lining was top quality enabling a good night’s sleep. Breakfast is included in the price and found the full English cooked beautifully by Chef Aiden delicious. His attentiveness to the diners was excellent and he was a genuinely nice chap. In short, great room, great food and with such a great team in Tania, Ben and Aiden, I fully recommend staying at The Crown.

Stayed over in November. The room was awfully cold when we arrived but soon warmed once we managed to figure out the heater. Very minimal plug sockets in the room. Very noisy at night outside the pub even on a Wednesday. The doors don’t lock from the outside only from the inside. Early wake up call from at 5:30am from people setting up the market. No warning given. The shower was awfully slow and leaked which made the floor slippy. The ceiling was full of damp patches clearly from an above leak which they have not repainted. The carpets are absolutely disgusting, the wood work is dirty also. Overall the whole place it very unclean and cold. Non of the pictures advertised show this. The price doesn’t even reflect this at all. Very disappointed and won’t be returning.

Had a lovely meal here, the vegetarian sharer platter was a bit different and very tasty.

Fantastic food and service from Tanya and the team. We had the lunch menu, the food was fresh, hot and came quickly. The waitress was friendly and served us quickly when we arrived. Would visit again 👍🏻

We saw the Halloween kids party advertised on Facebook. I was a bit hesitant at first as my little boy doesn’t do well in busy environments however we had a lovely warm welcome, both my children and nieces joined in with all the other children. We were welcomed by the lovely ladies at the bar. Tanya made every child feel included, she sung with them when they got stuck with the words and was just overall really friendly and lovely. My kids are already asking if there will be another party next year. Thank you!!

Had a fantastic time at the crown yesterday with my children , it was a Halloween karaoke event for children . Tanya was absolutely amazing , with understanding with my son who has special needs too, she sang with him when he was very shy and he did it 💙. The kids had a great time as did I. It was a cold and rainy day but we were given a warm welcome at The Crown, by our server - Shakira. We ate a generously portioned and lovely lunch. Our dog was also made to feel welcome. Would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Stopped here for some food whilst running a few errands in Fakenham and was pleasantly surprised by the food. The outside of the pub doesn’t look too special but the lunchtime sandwiches were delicious, and very reasonably priced! Dog friendly too!

Well what can you say about this place, nothing short as awful. If you are wanting to spend 120 pounds a night, getting a good night sleep. I would not advise this hotel. They clearly get their income from just serving drinks to the young uns who just want to get drunk and swear below the hotel bedrooms windows. Pretty disgraceful that they even charge 120 a night. I would not even pay 40 quid a night for the experience I had. To add also the food is terrible, the breakfast was minging, with flies everywhere and always food. Clearly they do not have a chef at the residence because the food was disgusting. Save your money and go to another hotel!

I only stayed here for two nights and both nights had loud music coming from the bar till midnight. I understand that this is a pub however this should have been of been told to us when we booked. We spoke to another couple who was staying here and they were also not told about the music. This is not appropriate for guests, who are staying here and want to relax, after a hard day travelling. We were given ear plugs, however I don’t want to take extra precautions just to sleep, in a hotel, which essentially is the main function of a hotel, having a relaxing sleep. Also there not much parking apart from a car park which you have to pay or park at the front but only for half an hour, this should have been told to us too. Despite this the room was clean and tidy, the breakfast was really nice and only 30 mins drive from wells-next-sea

Had a lovely welcome when we arrived, the room was comfy, the bed large and there was the added benefit of a fan (thank god!) bathroom was clean and tidy and the shower was nice and hot. The TV remote didn't work great but it wasn't a deal breaker and didn't sour our stay. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh and the people behind the counter were friendly and accommodating. It is a live music venue so it can get VERY loud, however they do provide ear plugs. All in all it was a lovely break and I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Came in this place on an off chance and what an excellent experience!! The barman was amazing!! Ben looked after us from the moment we walked even though he was clearly busy!! If your in the area be sure to check this place out!!

First impression of the crown are good. Upon entering we were checked in by Ben who had excellent knowledge and checked us In with ease and made our night entertaining many thanks

I like the food here. Simple. But nice. If the establishment paid more attention to detail. It could be so much better. There’s a scruffy area outside, next to the seating area that’s been fenced off for several years and looks a tip. If someone at least tidied up around the outside seating area it would be better. Lunchtime service has been quicker on our experience. Having said all of this, the pub food is nice and a reasonable price when compared to elsewhere.

Stayed for two nights. The room was clean and bright and the bathroom and toilet very clean too. Bed was very comfortable and well worth the price per night which we found very reasonable. The staff were very friendly especially Tanya who helped with our bags and the chef who cooked the breakfast and worked tirelessly. Would definitely stay again with the only downside being the lack of WiFi.

Stayed at Fakenham racecourse site for a few days, came into town for Sunday roast at the Crown, we both had the roast and the dog had a roast from the dog menu, it was delicious, the beef melted in your mouth and there was a lovely choice of veg, the staff were welcoming and friendly, thankyou for Tanya and the staff, looking forward to returning

Family birthday dinner was lovely. Food was delicious and we stayed the night in one the lovely rooms. Tanya was amazing and helpful throughout as were all the staff throughout our stay! The breakfast was just what we needed in the morning! Thank you!

Comfortable bright clean room in heart of Fakenham. Dinner (fish/seafood platter for 2) & breakfast (full English) were excellent plus good selection of beer & wine at great value for money.

Great night sleep, good food, friendly people and staff, would recommend. They do have bands on at weekends Over all a great stay won’t hesitate to go back

Stayed one night (midweek). Location is on the town square, so very convenient. It was quiet when we visited, but can imagine that weekends get lively. On arrival we were shown to our rooms, which were a bit tired, but very clean, and had all the usual amenities. We had dinner in the bar, which had a good atmosphere. The food took a while to arrive (staff shortages, we were told), but was worth waiting for. Very tasty & generous portions. WiFi worked well in the bar, but not in our rooms. Breakfast was served in the restaurant. We were invited to make our own tea or instant coffee from an urn of hot water (no teaspoons available). There was juice, and yogurt, but no fruit. There was range of hot buffet items, with fried eggs cooked to order (poached eggs not available). Toast & butter was available, but no jams or other spreads. The wooden tables get sticky & could do with a good scrub. Overall, it suited us for a one-night stay - the price was very competitive with other options. But the breakfast was rather off-putting.

I stayed for one night, had a pleasant meal, the hotel is a little tired although spotlessly clean rooms, the bed was very comfortable and the shower more than adequate. Breakfast the following morning was lovely very fresh good quality ingredients. All in all very good value for money.

Nice enough room but I have had non stop doors banging and loud music pumping up from the bar downstairs all night!. Now realise why the 2 coffee mugs had a packet of earplugs in them! Don’t stay here if you want any peace and quiet as the door banging is CONSTANT! Little flies were in the room all night so between them the booming music and doors slamming all night the shouting in the side smoking hub it was probably the worst night stay I’ve had anywhere in a very long time.

Great carvery lunch, excellent beef and first class service

Was refused service for unknown reason wasn't even drunk seems to be a case of if your face don't fit you won't be served staff are so rude wouldn't recommend

The room was very big with a very big bathroom, comfortable and warm ,it was room two plenty of hanging space and drawers coffee and tea making facilities, towels in bathroom, the first night we had dinner in the bar I had Lamb it was excellent the best I had had in along time my husband had Gammon said it was very good .

Wow my family and I had the most amazing Christmas lunch today,the food was fantastic and so much of it.Everyone went above and beyond to make it special.lovely warm friendly atmosphere,all the staff were fantastic Nothing was to much trouble. See you next year😉🙂

we stayed in a twin room as it was the only room available last night for the light switch on, From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't have been more attentive, the room was immaculate, possibly one of the best nights sleep iv had (a bed all to myself) the atmosphere in the bar was brilliant and made us feel very christmasy, This morning we had all you can eat breakfast which I thought was fantastic for the money, proper butcher sausages and fried eggs made to order. we will definitely return , Thank you the crown

So disappointed! Didn’t book but was sat at a-table that there wasn’t space for! The man at the bar couldn’t move and neither could I. My friend sat opposite and had to move his chair every time someone walked past! I really appreciated that my daughter (3yr old) didn’t have to pay as she doesn’t eat much at all. But the food was so disappointing. I just didn’t see it coming! Pork and beef.. beef was stone cold and felt the only reason the pork was hot was because of the hot pre-cut veg that was on top of it. Lovely atmosphere and staff but food just didn’t hit, at all.

Spent the night after going to the Thursford Xmas Show late November.. The room was pleasant and clean but the bed was rock hard and uncomfortable.. The toilet and shower room was bitterly cold, a towel radiator isn't enough to even slightly warm the space. The only mirror was in the shower room not measuring a foot square and set at a height my beloved couldn't see herself... They had music blaring out till midnight and although they provided ear plugs it didn't stop the floor from vibrating which transferred to the hard bed making it unpleasant. The entrance stairway and hallway to the rooms was bitterly cold... After returning from the show we thought we'd have a couple of drinks,, we had a wine and gin/tonic served in plastic cups.. I'm sorry to say but I find that unacceptable... On a positive note the breakfast was good although one guest asked for scrambled eggs and was curtly told fried eggs only (how hard is it to whisk a couple eggs)... Would we stay again,, the answer is I highly doubt it... This place isn't the jewel in The Crown.

ordered a buffet for my sons 18th, great food and plenty of it, I would most certainly recommend to friends and family.

Lovely clean room and comfortable bed. Breakfast included was everything I expected from a full English breakfast. We were advised it could be noisy as they had entertainment on in the bar but this didn’t bother us and we didn’t need to use the earplugs provided to get to sleep.

Wanted a light meal and somewhere I could take my dogs into The crown was perfect We both had the vegetarian breakfast which very tasty and the small size was more than adequate Service was really good felt welcomed and even offered a replacement coffee as I did not like the coffee I had ordered never had that sort of good service before Highly recommend

We stayed at The Crown overnight as a last stop before reaching Walsingham, having walked from Thetford during the week. The staff were really friendly. Jodie at the bar sorted out a mix-up in our reservation promptly and professionally and we were very happy with the result. Dinner was excellent and the chef Kirsty is to be congratulated, as is Ben our waiter who was attentive but not smothering. We would definitely stay here again.

Sunday Carvery was delicious, one of the best I’ve had. Definitely recommend this pub. It doesn’t look appealing from the outside but the restaurant area is clean and cosy.

Yesterday, 12 of us descending on the crown. We hadn’t booked, we just turned up, at the busiest time of day, 1pm. We couldn’t sit inside as they just didn’t have the space but they were more than happy for us to sit outside, the weather was lovely, beautiful sunshine, and yes we could order food and drinks. Staff went above and beyond. Honestly, everyone was so polite and accommodating. Food was lovely, only downside was it went cold quickly (our problem not theirs), but it was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble and yes we did ask for a lot of accommodations. Gf food, gravy with no onions. Extra plate for cauli cheese, and so on. Fully highly recommend this lovely pub. Lovely atmosphere, was lovely inside. Truly is a lovely little gem in the centre of fakenham.

Not a welcoming experience. Nice room but the bed was like a board and the heating was off until we arrived - froze for a couple of hours - went to Wetherspoon to warm up. Breakfast was interesting- all in pans under spot heaters but they cooked the eggs to order so you had to wait by the counter anyway - oh and eggs - fried or fried. Coffee was help yourself, make yourself- instant tube. The bar for residents was pay as you go. Shower was hot and dribbled Ok - towels were large and soft. Amaretto tasted watery - could be wrong but we drink it regularly. Felt sorry for the receptionist who had to have the doors open and wear a coat. Restaurant was dismal. Residents have to go outside (and get wet) to get from rooms to bar

Went for some lunch today, our first ever visit and we were warmly welcomed by Catherine when we arrived. Both my husband and myself chose a jacket potato, I had cheese and beans and my husband has prawns, they were both served with salad and coleslaw and was also very reasonably priced. When our food arrived, Catherine was very attentive and made sure we were happy with our food which we were. We both said it was the best jacket potato meal we have had in a long while and was also nicely presented, we will definitely be returning.

We were recommended this carvery and we were not disappointed. The bar was manned by a friendly with a very warm welcoming lady and so we had a drink before sitting in the restaurant. The staff were lovely and friendly. The carvery itself was just like home made. The meat was melt in the mouth tender with a choice of four joints. At least six vegetables plus stuffing balls and batter puddings. Also a very tasty cauliflower cheese to boot. There were five of us and we came out very full and very satisfied. Our first visit but most certainly not our last. It was also the cheapest we have been to.

Worst hotel i have stayed in I work and stay regularly in norfolk please avoid this hotel not worth the money No parking owners say its says so on web but i didnt see it Rooms poor shower did not work properly struggled to lock room Chef decided to go home early told to go to weatherspoons for dinner when there is an absolutley fantastic bistro opposite perhaps owners jealous Repeatedly asked for receipt finally got one pushed under door at 11.00 pm Breakfast very poor cheap produce used and unfortunatly chef can only cook fried eggs poorly Dont believe website this is a poor hotel with poor customer service

Myself and my husband spent the weekend here lovely clean comfortable room. Staff were welcoming and friendly especially the owner she was lovely. Breakfast was delicious especially the sausages. We are in the restaurant and enjoyed our meal. The atmosphere in the evening was great. Would recommend if you want to go where you feel at home and welcome. Thank you all

Lovely pub right in the centre of fakenham. We had a lovely lunch and will be returning to try more of the menu. Catherine behind the bar was really hospitable and friendly. Great service.

A great service from all bar members especially Tanya who is always friendly and welcoming and always has a smile on her face. Lovely pub / hotel highly recommend
