The best restaurants serving Mexican food in City Centre Manchester North West

We ordered food from Rey's on Deliveroo the other night after having their tacos at Hatch. Best Mexican food in Manchester... the crab tacos and the chicken enchiladas are on point. All of the fresh salsas are also a lovely touch. Would 100% recommend.

I’m sorry, but this has to be the worst food I’ve ever eaten — never mind it being fine dining. I’m not sure if the chef was tasting the food before it was sent out, but the overwhelming flavours across all dishes were lime, chilli, and salt. Everything was so acidic or vinegary, and all eight dishes we tried tasted virtually the same. With this type of dining experience, each dish should have its own unique flavour that complements the ingredients. We ate as much as we could — we’re not usually ones to complain — and since it was my 30th birthday, we were trying to make the most of the night. Plus, given the cost, we were trying to convince ourselves it was good. But by the end of the meal, we both felt unwell. When the final dish came out (a risotto), and again it tasted like a bowl of vinegar and lime, we just burst out laughing. That was the final straw. We had to send it back, as it was literally inedible. For the price, we were expecting a truly flavoursome experience with high-quality ingredients, but it seems the chef only works with three flavours. The duck was dry and sparse, covered in soggy, acidic leaves. The risotto was watery and acidic. The tacos were acidic and underwhelming. The squid was beyond dry and completely flavourless. The other dishes were okay but still far too acidic. That said, the complimentary dessert was delicious, the service was excellent, and the staff were very helpful when we returned the risotto. The venue itself is beautiful. However, the DJ's music was way too loud for a restaurant. While it’s a novel idea, it just doesn’t work in a dining setting — it made conversation difficult and likely causes more frustration than enjoyment. It’s disappointing to see reviews similar to ours dating back over five years, which suggests that customer feedback hasn’t been taken seriously. For the price, the food really needs a complete review. We’re big foodies and love trying new experiences — from fine dining to tasting menus, à la carte, and Michelin-starred venues. Sadly, this is the first one we’ve ever walked away from not enjoying at all. The food was nowhere near the standard we’ve come to expect from fine dining, both in flavour and in quality. Not a single dish stood out — or was even good. Very disappointing.

Decent burritos here with (supposedly) 3 vegan burrito filling options, but I have yet to find all 3 available. Today only the vegan ‘chicken’ was available. Why? Is it really that difficult to stock up for all items on your menu? Not even late in the day, lunchtime on a Saturday and you’re already out of stock? Plenty of other burrito options nearly, I’ll be going to one of those henceforth. Please don’t close early! Arrived at 20:50 today, supposed to be open until 21:00, but was closed 😭 UPDATE APRIL 2025: I know I wrote that I wont be going here again, but I did, and its gone downhill even more. Last Saturday they had no vegan options in stock, again around midday. They have the cheek to put a big sign outside bragging about their vegan and vegetarian options, and yet can't be bothered to make them or keep in stock. Add to that, you now place your order using screens (like McDonalds) which actually slow things down compared to telling the server what you want as they are making the burrito. Final nail in the coffin is staff that dont know how to roll a burrito. Now I really will be walking a few blocks up Oxford Road to another place, which is well staffed, takes orders verbally, keeps 2 vegan options in stock and the team know how to roll burritos.

A wonderful place! Dan was an absolute star, so friendly and smiley, was a lovely sunny day in Manchester yet he somehow managed to make it even brighter :)

Asked about allergies but then didn’t bother wiping the surfaces or changing any utensils - really poor service given that would be the bare minimum to do when someone has an allergy

Realmente disfrutamos de nuestra visita a Madre. Habíamos reservado una mesa, pero íbamos a llegar tarde y así que contactamos con el restaurante un sábado por la noche y preguntamos si podíamos hacer retroceder nuestra reserva - estaban más que felices de acomodar esto e incluso recibieron una confirmación por correo electrónico. Cuando llegamos el ambiente era bueno, ocupado y animado. Recibido por un amable cortador y mostrado a nuestra mesa. El personal era amable y tenía buen conocimiento del menú y hizo recomendaciones. Todo lo que comimos fue delicioso y sabroso. Teníamos 5 platos pequeños entre nosotros dos y luego pedimos dos más ya que estábamos siendo cerdo.

Absolutamente precioso personal, excelente comida y un ambiente fabuloso, desearíamos tener uno en Leicester como iría regularmente. Tenía burritos con sidra de piña

Good for food service but sucks presentation and atmosphere. We're the future and the vegan label everywhere, it's rubbish and boring.

So, I went to the new TACO BELL in Rochdale tonight, the 24th of January 2025. Now it's not the first time I've been to Taco Bell. I've been to the one in Cleethorpes, which was very nice, and the one in parrs Wood, Didsbury, Manchester is a hit and miss. Sometimes, it's nice over time. It's okay but not brilliant. So the in Taco Bell Rochdale I will give it the benefit of the doubt as it is still quite new but I had to wait 30 minutes from the time I ordered my food which was 7:00pm but did not receive my food till 7:30pm and I ordered it inside the store and it had a few delivery people waiting on deliveries and a few customers but I want have said it was major busy so like I said I am putting this down to it being a new store hopefully they will get quicker at serving has time go's on . It's time to rate the actual food, so I ordered to combos you got in this 1 Burrito 1 Speciality, Crunchy Taco, Regular Fries, Churros & Dip, and drink regular size is £9.49 are large is 9.99 but bear in mind for the extra 50p your only getting large fries and a large drink. Now the food was very nice but I have to say in the Taco it was more lettuce than minced meat. And the burrito was a bit short on filling to. But I am putting this all down to it being a new TACO Bell and the staff are still learning I may return in a few months time to see if it's changed and see if the portion size and wait Time Has Changed Eva way it did taste very nice. Cleanliness of the Store at this time, I would say, it was quite fresh and clean. Staff could do with smiling a bit more and have a bit more interaction with the customer, especially if there's going to be a long waiting time, but I will return again

Nos encanta venir aquí los fines de semana, ya que es el mejor desayuno / almuerzo en didsbury. No hay otros lugares en didsbury que hagan comida mexicana y la cuaisadilla de res aquí con el dip de salsa birra es excelente.

Came in for drinks and the staff were so rude. Kept hinting at us to move and made me feel very uncomfortable. Will never return. EVERE.
