Peter Street Kitchen in Manchester

I’m sorry, but this has to be the worst food I’ve ever eaten — never mind it being fine dining. I’m not sure if the chef was tasting the food before it was sent out, but the overwhelming flavours across all dishes were lime, chilli, and salt. Everything was so acidic or vinegary, and all eight dishes we tried tasted virtually the same. With this type of dining experience, each dish should have its own unique flavour that complements the ingredients. We ate as much as we could — we’re not usually ones to complain — and since it was my 30th birthday, we were trying to make the most of the night. Plus, given the cost, we were trying to convince ourselves it was good. But by the end of the meal, we both felt unwell. When the final dish came out (a risotto), and again it tasted like a bowl of vinegar and lime, we just burst out laughing. That was the final straw. We had to send it back, as it was literally inedible. For the price, we were expecting a truly flavoursome experience with high-quality ingredients, but it seems the chef only works with three flavours. The duck was dry and sparse, covered in soggy, acidic leaves. The risotto was watery and acidic. The tacos were acidic and underwhelming. The squid was beyond dry and completely flavourless. The other dishes were okay but still far too acidic. That said, the complimentary dessert was delicious, the service was excellent, and the staff were very helpful when we returned the risotto. The venue itself is beautiful. However, the DJ's music was way too loud for a restaurant. While it’s a novel idea, it just doesn’t work in a dining setting — it made conversation difficult and likely causes more frustration than enjoyment. It’s disappointing to see reviews similar to ours dating back over five years, which suggests that customer feedback hasn’t been taken seriously. For the price, the food really needs a complete review. We’re big foodies and love trying new experiences — from fine dining to tasting menus, à la carte, and Michelin-starred venues. Sadly, this is the first one we’ve ever walked away from not enjoying at all. The food was nowhere near the standard we’ve come to expect from fine dining, both in flavour and in quality. Not a single dish stood out — or was even good. Very disappointing.

Great food, great dessert, great sake and cocktails. Service is also good. Totally worth the visit. I would love to come again someday.

Came with a friend for the £28 3 course set menu with a complimentary cocktail. I was so impressed! The cocktail was delicious- light and fruity with a wine foam on the top. Good food and the portion sizes were bigger than I expected too. Service was friendly yet professional.

I experienced the whiskey tasting with my son who bought it for me as a Christmas present. Kay was very knowledgeable and made our experience amazing. The food to accompany was superb too.

Whisky tasting with small plates may was great as a boat and we really enjoyed it. Food was good and Japanese whiskies were explained and discussed and tasted great.

How to put it, you won't eat here, if you like eating and gastronomy, don't go, it's a trendy place, for posting, loud music, cold raisins, simple and extremely expensive food. I had no idea, I like to go and enjoy gastronomy. Posh people, just that...

Fantastic food and good service. Absolutely loved the Waguy. However, the DJ night club blasting theme was definitively not my cup of tea. Could not even hear what the waiter was saying, let alone properly communicate with my family while dining. Apart from the noise, best food I tasted in Manchester.

Amazing food, our server (Demi) was attentive and friendly, lovely atmosphere. The music was a little loud, but overall a great experience.

Expected food to be more special. Everything tasted average and over priced. Service was dissappointing, the asian girl who brought the food to the table was bit rude and did not explain properly which dish were what. She dumped everything in a rush, not even a smile. We were celebrating my husband's birthday. I made sure to let them know when making the reservation. Spent over £170 and didn't even get a little chocolate with happy birthday on it. But charged us service charge of course. Overall experience super dissappointing. Don't think we'll be returning.

We went to Peter street kitchen for my partners birthday! When we first arrived we found the place quiet lively, the onsite DJ was great but the volume was a tad too high, but we must say we were very much impressed with the food, the menu and concept was intriguing; but hands down probably one of the best food we’ve ever eaten, the FOH associate (Nora) was very attentive and well informed, she made our visit more special with her knowledge with the and professionalism! We look forward to visiting again in the nearer future thank you for hosting such a great evening. Thank you

Succulent Japanese platter and delicious lamb cutlets and wagyu beef. Excellent ambience and service. The creme brûlée is exquisite.

I made a reservation for Valentine’s Day at Peter Street Kitchen, but the experience fell short of expectations. Nowhere during the booking process was I informed that only set menus were available on the day. When we arrived and were seated, I was told that my deposit was for a £250 set menu per couple - something I never agreed to or was made aware of. Because of the limited menu, the dishes I was looking forward to weren’t available, which was frustrating. While the food presentation was nice, the dishes themselves were quite basic and didn’t justify the high price. On top of that, the atmosphere was not suited for a romantic evening - the loud DJ music made it difficult to hear my partner or even communicate with the waiters. For a restaurant of this calibre, I expected much better communication and a more enjoyable dining experience. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t return, especially for a special occasion.

This was my second visit after a poor first impression and the food was awful and the restaurant was freezing. Everything from the Japanese inspired menu was drenched in a raw onion lime sauce that overpowered every other flavour. My friend, being a vegetarian had a few slices of sour courgette served in the same bitter sauce and the ‘cabbage steak’ (a bowl of soggy cabbage drenched in again the same sauce). Each course came at an odd time, without the appropriate sides. I had the grilled lobster tacos, amongst other things, unfortunately just a taco filled with finely chopped raw onion soaked in lime and vinegar, no lobsters were harmed in the making of these tacos. The waiter was kind enough to offer me an alternative dish of ribs from the Mexican menu, after filling myself up on all the disgusting things before hand (I was starving), I asked to take them away but was told I’m not allowed. A waste of £200 deffo won’t return or recommend.

Beautiful setting inside the Edwardian Hotel. On arrival staff were very friendly and helpful, we felt very welcome. The food was good, we enjoy small plate sharing so the Japanese Mexican fusion is perfect for us. Very lively atmosphere, was a Friday night so the DJ was on, probably a bit too much like a Nightclub for us but I'm not complaining about that, it's Manchester and full of younger people and that's the vibe they want. All in all very nice place and would recommend. Thanks to the team for the anniversary dessert too...nice touch 🙏

Booked a large table here for my wife’s 30th. We did the tasting menu and it was some of the best food we have ever had in Manchester. Service was bang on aswell which can be difficult with large groups. Had a really good evening and all our friends enjoyed it too. Thanks a lot will be back

I didn’t book a room , however i did spend an hour or 2 at the bar/restaurant area it was my 41st birthday I was treated with cocktail and champagne, the bartender salvo who served the drinks was very friendly and professional were brilliant very welcoming and friendly the hotel is stunning, I had a lovely time thankyou Radisson for the cocktails tasted amazing and thankyou also for the birthday cake miniature and tasty 🙂🙂

Sorry but so overpriced for flavour and quality of food. A5 wagyu was not an experience. Will not be visiting again.

I've always enjoyed meals at the "Kitchen" venues in London and similarly Peter Street Kitchen did not disappoint. From a warm welcome to prompt, friendly service, we were well looked after. The service was exceptional, and although it is a formal setting, it wasn't at all uncomfortable or overbearing. Although we picked mainly from the Mexican menu, we enjoyed everything we ordered, particularly the beef gyoza tacos and the beef skewers. Would definitely recommend and would return!

A clean and classy aesthetic - fab place for a lovely cup of tea. The breakfast buffet is varied and fresh and the seating, though a bit close to other diners, was comfortable.

Kay was a very good mixologist. The Tonka passion fruit cocktail was lovely if small though. The pina rose was great and a long drink.

Kay was so great his service was impeccable- would definitely come again due to the great service. The place was so lovely and friendly .

We went to the PSK Bar as part of a large group on a Saturday night. Despite being very busy, the team (especially Kay!) were very accommodating and looked after us well. The drinks were superb, the music was great and the service was top notch. Would definitely come back again!

Amazing attention to detail with both service and food. Service from everyone was of the highest quality with food to match. The tender loin skewers and wavy fried rice were a particular highlight. We also thoroughly enjoyed the filo king prawns, lobster gyoza tacos, beef gyoza tacos, yellowfin tuna ribbons and Mexican stonebass. Topped off with the exotic fruit platter with blackcurrant sorbet and the white chocolate mousse with sorbet and sponge. Special mention for the Tonka passion fruit cocktail too which was excellent. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. My only regret is that I didn’t take photos of my dishes as we were too busy enjoying them.

Stopped by for a Moscow Mule since I noticed they had copper cups. Despite this, the drink came in a different glass and was missing the mint. When I asked the bartender, she said that's just how they serve it. Disappointing for a high-end bar.

We booked a table for four before seeing a show. The Mexican/ Japanese fusion intrigued me. Walking in I found it to be a very swish place indeed. Once seated napkins were folded out onto our laps, and an offering of £11 water. An explanation of the menu was then provided along with a suggestion of 3 or 4 dishes each. The menu contained some really tasty dishes from lobster tacos to wagyu. Me and my friend opted for the tasting menu which offered edamame beans, duck salad with pomegranate, truffle cabbage, seabass, baby chicken with miso butter, calamari, another creamy salad, white chocolate cheesecake and a mandarin cream brulee. This was set at £55 per person so we thought it worked out as better value. Another friend just ordered some other dishes separately, some of which were in our set.. While we waited our cocktails arrived which were pleasing to the eye and some were delicious. I had the palomino , my friends ichigo which tasted more of gingerbeer and another had a old fashioned. This is where things got a little confusing. Two plates of the beans arrived so we naturally thought it was one each. However, as time passed we realised you only get one plate of food with the "sharing tasting menu" so the beans had been my other friends. It's a good job we realised this sooner than later because we could have eaten her sea bass too! I think this should have been better explained. Also it didn't turn out better value as initially anticipated. I have to admit though every plate was presented beautifully and tasted delightful. I did find the amount of attendance was uncomfortable though like they were really trying to justify the 12% service charge. Our napkins constantly tweaked and water topped up after a few mouthfuls. Overall the food was delicious but yes expensive, especially with the service charge and water. Also another friend ordered the £80 seafood platter which did not look substantial. I also found certain elements could have been explained better. I might return in future as a treat to sample the wagyu.

We had a wonderful meal with great service. The food was excellent quality. I'm just not sure how memorable the food was to pay a return visit. But it was a great way to celebrate a special occasion as a one off.

Best place to dine in Manchester, 100% recommended. The food is spectacular and the service unbeatable (they made me a special dish due to intolerances).

Managed to get a table shortly after arriving in Manchester and could not recommend highly enough. Great service, unstuffy but beautifully designed setting, and the food was out of this world. Special mention must go to the bartender making cocktails. Knowledgable, unpretentious and clearly passionate about what he does, we came back the next evening for more of his delicious booze. A total gem.

Went there for a birthday dinner, and was not disappointed by the Omakase. The DJ seemed a bit out of place initially, but with the fantastic food and delicious sake flowing, we got into it eventually. I would strongly advise the chef drop the breaded prawns from the Omakase experience and add a veggie dish in the middle of the 6 courses to break it up a bit. The black cod is to die for.

I had the Set Menu here during my stay at the Edwardian, the Staff were friendly and hard working. We was very well looked after. The Complimentary Cocktail was delicious. And the food was phenomenal, one of my starters was calamari and I’ve been to Greece and this was very close in terms of quality, I highly recommend anyone to pay a visit here and for the food you get it’s definitely worth the price you pay, and then some. - will I be back? Most certainly. 11/10

Superb restaurant with an interesting fusion of dishes! We ordered from the dinner set menu @ £28 p/person which I felt was a reasonable price, and we also selected a few items from the a la carte menu; The highlights were the roasted aubergine, prawn tempura and mezcal ribs (very succulent!). They weren’t too shy with the spice level which I appreciated as I love spicy food. Special shout out to our friendly, sweet server, Katerini - who helped us navigate the menu’s and recommended our dishes of choice. The lychee cocktail was fabulous too! All in all, a wonderful dining establishment that I would definitely recommend!

Good atmosphere. Like that there is a dj. Service was good. Food came out quick. Quite a few small plates to choose from. My favourite was the braised beef tacos. Decor is quite nice and the semi private area on the side looks really good. Definitely good for a date night A must visit if you are into Mexican Japanese cuisine. Lets not forget the top tier amaretto sour with the froth Highly recommended

I never normally give reviews like this but wow - underwhelming was the overarching word here. Service was sloppy, extortionate prices for what we were served and the food was honestly really uninspiring. Several courses were flavour hidden by spice, nothing was memorable or grabbing and for how much we paid it was not up to scratch whatsoever. Far too bright and loud also. I feel bad but if you’re going to spend a decent whack on dinner you have far better options than these guys.

Went for a birthday dinner kept waiting for 20 minutes Table was booked for 915pm so getting on for 10 pm Noticed that there were people just having drinks when got in Send very odd why they were prioritised . Food was very disappointing extremely spicy most dishes and the beef on the lava plate was too chewy and almost in edible as was the asparagus covered in an incredibly hot spicy sauce. We don’t receive a bill with two cocktails added on for £25 from the neighbouring table who had left, about half an hour ago . The music was much too loud felt like you were in a nightclub which is great if that is what you want or not so good for a nice meal out to be fair the staff Very nice and helpful, but over all A disappointing experience

It was ok but disappointing given the price. Lovely tuna and black cod but both totally over powered with acidic flavours and chilli. Tempura wasn't great, just came with raw onion and batter wasn't light like its meant to be. Beef tataki was the best dish, delicious with truffle. We had the 6 course tasting menu but it didn't fill us up. Maybe some crackers and dips or bread to start would have improved it, would fill you up a bit more and not have to go straight into an acidic fish dish. It's not fine dining if that's what you're after and thought that's what we'd be getting with menu and prices. Service was lovely though, was friendly, good atmosphere and decor.

First time at Peter St Kitchen, 4 of us dining. We were greeted with a warm welcome, we hadn't booked but we were seated quickly. Service was fantastic, Francesco explained how the menu worked, made some good recommendations and made sure we didn't under or over order. He was attentive without being intrusive - just perfect. Food was fantastic too, we ordered a mix of Japanese and Mexican dishes, all were delicious. The overall experience was fabulous and we'll definitely go back. Highly recommend.

When traveling we love to take the opportunity to experience different and exciting cuisine. Peter Street Kitchen ticked both these boxes. Located within the stunning Edwardian hotel in a beautiful room with high ceilings and fabulous decor the restaurant definitely gives the wow factor to a first date / special occasion. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and brought to a lovely table from which we could admire our surroundings. Our waiter was immediately on hand with our menus and water for the table. The menu is divided into two sections, Japanese dishes on one side and Mexican dishes on the other. The concept is small plates for sharing, the dishes come as there are ready as opposed to separate courses. We chose a mixture from both cuisines and couldn’t have been happier with our choices. The aubergine dish was one of the nicest things I’ve ever had. We accompanied our food with some amazing bespoke cocktails from the extensive drinks menu. I would happily come back to sample more of these at the trendy bar area. Overall a very memorable experience which we will definitely repeat in the near future. Keep up the good work.

Had an amazing time on Sat afternoon with Kay who was our master class whisky connoisseur. Tasting consisted of 4 Japanese whiskies accompanied by some small Japanese dishes and the session lasted for 2 hours in the beautiful setting of the Peter Street Kitchen restaurant. Kay is very knowledgeable and you can see he is proud in what he does! He goes over & beyond and my 2 friends thoroughly enjoyed the master class session. To anyone who is thinking to do a whisky master class, I can highly recommend Kay @ Peter Street Kitchen as this has been a very entertaining and educational afternoon!

Soooo loud. I could not come back, you can’t enjoy a meal and have a chat. Loud as a club. Very disappointed. We got the tasting menu with no explanation, the risotto was not good at all. They forgot drinks throughout the night, the desert, we booked for a birthday no mention of that.

We had the premium omakase and a selection of Mexican dishes. The food was excellent - bold flavours beautifully executed. The cocktails were very well-balanced. The live DJ created an upbeat yet relaxed atmosphere. Most importantly, the service from Agnes and the team was first class. We will most definitely be back to Peter Street Kitchen.

Bit on the pricy side, but in return you get an outstanding service and delicious food. Well worth the money - we've had an amazing diner woth very attentive staff looking after us.

We ordered about 12 small plates to share between 3 people and found them to be adequate. The food was delicious but we didnt really fancy the smoked pork ribs (too sour-tasting so we requested honey on the side) to balance out the flavor. Every alcoholic drink we ordered hit the right spot. Agnes was an amazing host. She was very attentive, engaging, and provided our table with excellent customer service.

This restaurant never fails to deliver on great food. The stuff are very attentive and friendly. The DJ and music create a such a vibe and atmosphere! One of the best restaurants in manchester.

A great experience whether you go for the a la carte or experience. Their fusion of Japanese and Mexican is done with excellence, combining some of the best tastes from both. Their small dishes are perfect for sharing, with an amazing selection of fish and meats. Have been a multitude of times and have never been let down. Their drinks menu is also lovely. 10/10 would recommend!

We attended our menu sampling last night in PSK. My daughter & I were met by Anastasia who has been coordinating my daughter’s wedding evening reception. She greeted us with a warm, friendly approach and a huge smile. James, F&B MGR also joined our meeting. James is a superb asset to PSK, with his warm personality, creative style and professional manner. Anastasia and James make an amazing team. Our canapés were well presented, almost theatre on a plate. Immaculate crockery, delicious, dishes, beautiful, sumptuous were the cries from my daughter and son in law, both real foodies, working in the food industry! The comments from James and Anastasia were helpful, understanding and thoughtful. We did not take long to finalise our menu choices for the “big night”. The beverages offered and suggested complimented our event. We even got to see the glasses. We even had a visit from the Executive Head Chef, checking his food was enjoyed, Overall a truly memorable experience. We are now so excited for the reception, knowing, the welcome, service, canapés and beverages will be 5*. Well done James, Anastasia, PSK team and all in the kitchen. It was a funeral, it meant to be a nice date, but everyone was wearing black, rainy day in Manchester. The food was horrible, the man I was with ended up vomiting all night. Could benefit from new branding strategy. Will not be coming back unfortunately

We came here for our wedding meal. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was some of the best I've had in years as well as the selection of wines. I would come back in a heart beat. Definitely get what you pay for.

The small dishes of food that we shared between 2 people were tasty, but heavy on the raw onion! The wagu A5 beef was also difficult to eat with tough ligaments that made chewing and swallowing a bit of a challenge to be honest. The drinks were slow to arrive and arrived after the food, which wasn't great, we ordered more drinks mid way through the meal and we'd just about finished the meal by the time they arrived. The server was friendly enough but didn't seem that familiar with the menu and looked confused when we order things on the menu. I did enjoy the decor, they have done the best they can with the space and I thought it looked pretty good, I liked the open flame and teapot and the raw wood accents.

Loved it, food was amazing and a good Barolo to boot. We had a cocktail in the bar before as we were early. Was lovely and staff were great.

Just called in for drinks. Up market bar and restaurant which will return to for a meal. Good cocktails and cheaper than some other nearby haunts

Table for 2 and both had their tasting menu's. First dish arrived and waiter simply walked off without explaining our dishes. Considering tasting menu's are to show off the chef skills, very below average. 2 dishes over powered with sauces and black cod dish the broth was far too acidic. Dessert clearly pre-made and left in chiller, mango had turned brown and lack taste! Very poor level given prices they're charging. Atmosphere okay but the dj doesn't fit the venue and trying to be something it isn't and toilets you need to walk in hotel gym area.

This place was excellent! My wife and I are on our honeymoon and chose to eat dinner here randomly since we were staying in the Edwardian hotel. The atmosphere was amazing. The food was amazing. The staff was friendly and the service was very quick. Mo was our server and he exceeded our expectations and was very attentive. He also helped us as we have never tried a tapas style restaurant before. Highly highly recommend the prawn tempura and wagyu fried rice.

I telephoned, and emailed several times - no response whatsoever- the worst fine dining communication ever experienced from anywhere in the world. I fully understand the need in this day and age for a deposit but what a representation of Manchester - not surprising that restaurants go out of business if they lack courtesy and manners.

We had a delightful experience at the restaurant. The addition of a DJ enhanced the atmosphere without overwhelming conversation. The attentive and friendly staff made us feel well taken care of, providing service that truly justified the cost. The presence of a skilled wine sommelier added a sophisticated touch. The passion fruit crème brûlée was to die for. Celebrating my mum's birthday here was a memorable experience, and the meal is sure to be a topic of conversation for a long time to come.

Our experience at Peter street kitchen was one of the best dining experiences Iv had in Manchester. The staff and service was unmatched, and our server, Mo, made us feel so welcomed and looked after through out the night. We will 100% be back ❤️
