Pico's Tacos in Manchester

I've visited Picos a few times, and the food has always been excellent. However, during my last visit, my friend, who has some allergies, asked the staff for more information about the menu. Unfortunately, the three employees working at the time were extremely rude and intimidating. She clarified that her concern was about consuming nuts, not cross-contamination, but they kept repeating their cross-contamination policy in a rude manner. Despite her efforts to explain, they continued to be unhelpful, while the other two staff members just stood by without offering any assistance. Navigating food allergies is already challenging for her, and the lack of support or kindness made the experience even worse. It's disappointing because I love the food, but I won’t be returning until the staff's attitude toward allergies improves.

Tasty but overpriced and small three for £17 . Plus even though it was quiet had to wait ages .

Superb choice for lunch - order takes about 20 minutes to come on a quiet midweek afternoon as everything is cooked fresh to order - well worth the wait.

Visited for first time with my wife acted on a recommendation from a lady at one of the tables in the hall. Food was absolutely excellent so tasty. Could still taste the food 30 minutes after we finished. Always a good sign. Staff were brilliant & so helpful. Will definitely visit again👍

Incredible and tasty tacos. Excellent value for money and cooked to perfection. What we loved the most was the variety of different flavours and ingredients used. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Mackie Mayor.

The Baja tacos were so good, not had a fish taco like it. 5/5 from me.

The food quality is good but the portion sizes are tiny and the prices are not justified. Probably just a place to visit once.

The best tacos in Manchester. Don't look any further. The only reason there isn't a lineup out the door is because they are so fast. The steak and fish tacos were both excellent, but the cauliflower and butternut squash tacos were life-changing. I will have dreams about them for years to come. I seriously considered ordering another round immediately after eating them. 12/10 will be back again.

Sick tacos, margaritas & vibes.

Without a doubt the best tacos I’ve ever had! We tried the roasted cauliflower, the beef and the squash and walnut and every single flavour was unbelievable. Pricey enough at 5 for £22 but worth every single penny in my opinion!

Only had veggie options, covered in oil, burnt and horrid flavour. Expensive and worst food I've had in a long time. Server seemed disinterested which in a pop up food hall style I didn't massively mind but now trying the food seems a lack of care throughout the entire offer.

Good food but the portion size for the tacos and the price are insane!

Amazing tacos that were all gluten free, and coeliac safe!! The server was really helpful when we asked about GF. Service was quick and the food was tasty.

Amazing tacos, full of flavour and really interesting ingredient combinations. Lots of options at Mackie Mayor, but I’d definitely recommend Pico’s!

Delicious tacos and nachos! Some of the best we’ve ever had. We ate here twice in our 4 days in Manchester. They’re busier on a weekend than weekday naturally and both times our food arrives in 10-20 minutes

Absolutely lovely tacos. Not huge in size but MASSIVE in flavour

I love their fish tacos, actually my favourite I’ve had for a while, crispy cod with a refreshing salad. I also liked the pickled red onions, it gives it a refreshing flavour to it and the cod were nicely seasoned. It is quite pricey for what it is.

We popped into the food market for some tacos and were not disappointed. Pork belly, crispy cauliflower and mackerel tacos with great accompaniment. We eat a lot of Mexican food and Picos is up there with the best!!

Only two options. Very good atmosphere and service

Overpriced, Tiny Portions, Slow Service, Rude Staff. Dined with 6 friends who ordered different meals from different vendors. All advised it would be a 45 mins wait. Everybody got food within 15/20 mins (pizzas, noodles, burgers, chips ) apart from us. One hour later after everybody had long finished their meals a cold bowl of nachos arrived. Just as we thought they had forgot our two tacos they arrived on a tiny little side plate. I actually laughed out loud. I said "are you joking is that it". It was the most appalling offering of food I have genuinely ever seen. Two tiny tacos with a small dollop of meat covered in red cabbage. Nothing else no lime, no garnish just these two sad looking efforts after waiting 1 hour and 5 mins. I picked up the cold nachos and the tacos and went down to Pico's. 4 men came upto the counter as I complained about the meal itself and the wait. They explained they were busy yet non of them doing a single thing at about 7.30 pm ... I said "you're all stood about doing nothing and yet it took over an hour for that effort and we paid over £20 for £1.50 worth of produce". Putting nachos on a plate with jalapenos and sauces and two dollops of meat sprinkled with red cabbages in tacos takes less than 3 mins to prepare. I didn't even ask for a refund because of the Mexican stand off going on at the counter, the meal being so late didn't have time to argue with the 4 amigos, we had to leave for the comedy club. I wish I had taken a photo of that (meal) it was appalling, looked nothing like the photos on the internet that's for sure. Still amazed at the lack off effort for a simple job my child could do. I cannot comment on the food as I wouldn't eat it...

Called in today for a quick bite. I’m celiac so have to be very careful when eating out. I was pleasantly surprised to be told that the whole kitchen was gluten free. The food was 10/10. So good. Will definitely be back soon..

Best nachos in the entire world!

Extremely helpful with allergens, tasty tacos that were classic but with a twist to make them different to what you see everywhere. Sam was especially helpful and knowledgeable about ingredients, and dealt with a large order super efficiently. Better than anything I’ve had in London, recommend!!

Honestly the best taco I have eaten! Exceptionally good, a real gem and the vegi/fish options were so well done. The food showed real technical skill, was well executed, freshly made and clearly used great ingredients. Well worth a visit.

Best Tacos I’ve eaten (and trust me that’s a lot) outside of Mexico. Great atmosphere inside Mackie Majors. Service was amazing. But the food was just top tier. Great frozen margs as well

I ordered the brunch enchilada. Slow service, tasteless food (except for excessive salt) and small portion size for high prices. Even the egg was tiny! Would not recommend.

I had the sweet potato and mushroom tacos and the nachos. The sweet potato wasn't for me - something about the charred taste. The mushroom tacos were very good. Wasn't a huge fan of the soft shells they used for the tacos - bit of a wet texture to them. The nachos could have been fresher. Thought it was very expensive at £18 for 4 small tacos. Service was good however.

Legit the best tacos I've ever had and I smash tacos. The fish one in particular was absolutely banging.

I’m obsessed with delicious authentic tacos. I’ve been excited to try Pico’s for a while. I had a great conversation with the staff when I ordered who gave me their advice on what to order as a pescatarian. They were pleasant and engaging. I chose the fish tacos and a sweet potato taco. I absolutely Loved the fish tacos. Perfectly thin& soft taco shell, an explosion of flavour and texture (with limes on the side so I could add to my own taste). Utter perfection. The sweet potato taco was also nice but couldn’t compete with the fish. It’s one day later and I’m already trying to figure out when I can go back for more. I ate them so quickly I forgot to take a photo but the people on the table next to me also ordered fish tacos and let me snap a picture of theirs 🫣😆. I’ll be back!

I have had a lot of tacos (and I mean a lot!) and these were something else!! Absolutely out of this world So much flavour packed into each bite. These guys really know what they’re doing. We had a mix of all the tacos offered; chicken, fish, sweet potato and mushroom. Each one was insanely delicious! As if all the tacos weren’t enough, we also got some charred corn esquites which was tangy, spicy, smoky and sweet. Outstanding! If you’re a taco lover get yourself down to these guys asap!!

My favourite place to get tacos! Favourite breakfast taco- the chorizo with purple egg ( get to mackie mayors before 12 for this one). If you like tacos with a kick of flavour this is for you. Tempura cod taco is a great day time taco I could eat 10 of each!

So tasty, the best meal I had in Manchester. My family and I done our own food tour and when we visited mackie mayors we sampled a few dishes and the stand out meal got all our family were the cod Tacos, they were so fresh and tasty. We also tried the beef tacos, they were good to but not as nice as the cod tacos in my opinion. We also tried the margaritas they were nice and at £13 for two they were OK value. The tacos cost £20 for five they are small so value they weren't great but definitely worth it.

This place is AMAZING the pork tacos are to die for they caramelise little chunks of pork and its crispy and so flavourful. so good I went back the next day. The fish tacos are also amazing

I very rarely eat Mexican-style food and my wife is not keen anyway. However, she popped in here at lunchtime and liked the sound of what was on offer ( various taco's fish, vegetarian, beef etc ) and we ordered a few each. Now, they are not overpriced and we only wanted a snack...Some snack!!...Quite a good portion and to be honest each one was delicious..Fantastic flavours, and with a glass of wine made out lunch. In fact, I commented to the lad behind the counter how much we enjoyed them !...Certainly one to try again..Keep up the good standard

As a Californian living in the UK, I've been missing Mexican food since my arrival. I took a chance while visiting Manchester to stop at Picos in Mickey Mayor and am so happy I did! I had the cod, beef suadero and the crispy Cauliflower, each so different and delicious. To top it off, they have frozen margaritas so you really can't go wrong. Would definitely recommend again and again.

We tried 2 of each of the tacos. The cod was flavourless, the beef had too much going on, they were saved by the sweet potato, which was was pretty good compared to the other two. It’s pretty cheap and it filled a hole, but I definitely won’t be coming back. Clashing flavours and the main ingredient wasn’t prominent enough.

Absolutely delicious tacos! We had the fish Taco and it was fantastic. Crispy battered cod goujon in soft taco. Gluten free too!

After a couple of good reports, I was pretty excited about getting food from this place, but I was quite disappointed in the end. I may just have been unlucky with my experience; I can't say. Over many tempting offers within Mackie Mayor, I opted for their 3 tacos for £13 offer. There were 4 flavour options; I chose to have two of the Tempura fish & Chipotle and one of the Pork Carnitas. I love Chipotle so much that I can't describe it, so I was inevitably disappointed when I couldn't taste any Chipotle whatsoever; everything on the dish was massively overpowered by the salsa verde which had been very liberally slathered across the taco. Also, the pieces of tempura fish on each taco were almost insultingly small. (A competitor in this venue offers a fish sandwich for a lower price which has far more fish than 6 of these tacos would contain) The pork taco was better, but still not overwhelming. I cannot fail to acknowledge though, that the service here was some of the friendliest I have experienced.

These guys have a spot in the corner if Mackie Mayors however the food deserves to be center stage! I am Mexican and Tacos are my favourite food! They were amazing! the flavours were authentic and reminded me of home! I found it hard to stop eating..a full 5 stars for this place!

The best food and staff in Manchester. Whilst the tacos are always excellent, the charred corn is incredible. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, so if unsure about anything be sure to ask and they will give really good suggestions!

Shabby chic venue, maybe more shabby than chic in places. But interesting. Great concept in theory, with a number of food vendors to choose between. Most people in our group liked the food, and the pizza and half chicken looked plentiful if not particularly different from an average chain pub offering. I decided to try something a bit unusual so went with the Pico Tacos, 2 for £10. They aren't traditional tacos with beef chilli but that's OK. After 20 minutes waiting I got a small metal plate, itea plate size, with 2 of the tiniest tacos I could imagine. 2 bites each. Don't get me wrong, taste-wise they were lovely but 4 bites for £10 is a joke. In fact all the food was way overpriced for lunchtime fare. I love Mexican food but this wasn't authentic and left me hungry. I probably wouldn't return nor recommend it... there are better places to go in Manchester, but I don't think I'm the trendy hipster demographic the place is targeting anyway. It's a novelty right now but I can see it being flattened by a competitor offering better value What I will do is replicate the food in proper portions at home so thanks for the ideas!

This is a food must if you want authentic Mexican food. It’s hot, it’s textured, it’s layered in flavour tastes and unapologetically simple. I ordered the 4 for £16 tacos which may seem a little steep but I didn’t need anything else afterwards and felt really pleased with my order. Honestly if you’re in Manchester and want to try a bit of Mexican in the northern quarter this is my new favourite.
