La Casita in Manchester

Hours aren't currently accurate online (as of March 2024) but I'm not sure what the hours are in order to update. Had the Chimichangas for a starter, these were probably the highlight of everything. To be honest all the meals with pork in outshined the rest. They were really nice. For mains we shared steak fajita, pork burrito and birria. The sauces they give you at the start were beautiful! The steak fajita was quite nice, but was a little overcooked. Just personal taste but I would've preferred the steak pieces to be slices rather than chunks. The birria was a big disappointment for me, it's probably one of my favourite Mexican dishes but it had a strange taste, and didn't come with any liquid from the birria. I think the taste may have come from the corn tortilla but I'm not sure. Unfortunately I didn't finish it. However I was jealous of my partner's burrito, I don't usually order burritos out and about as they're usually stingy, but this was packed full of rice and loads of pork which was a beautiful flavour and pulled texture. Service could've been a bit more attentive (when we arrived there was only one other table except us and we had to ask for drinks and the next course). However, would definitely come again maybe leaning towards ordering pork stuff as it had the best flavour.

Don't understand the great reviews. Some of the worst Mexican food I have had. The chicken tacos were boring with no flavour. Also had the birria tacos which I have had much much better elsewhere.

In disbelief at how high the rating is on here! It was potentially just a one off night when I went but it was awful Had the prawn tacos ,small tiny Coldwater prawns with a cold curry sauce ,tasted like pataks on a stale tortilla wrap. Rice accompanied the main and was the most overheated rice I've ever seen ,it's asif if it was microwaved for about 10 minutes. Each grain had turned into little pellets. Also ordered a side of these like deep fried balls where the batter was raw in the middle. Service was average ,didn't get a check back . Nearly ruined a first date , embarrassed I recommended it to say the least 😂😭

This place has been a surprise, all the dishes are incredibly good. The environment is very healthy and the staff are very friendly and attentive.

Nice mexican but I've had a lot better. The rice was nice and so was the chilli con carne however it wasn't hot at all considering I was in a Mexican I thought it would be hotter. And the service was ok but nothing special so to have a service charge whacked on at the end didn't sit well with me.

Absolutely atrocious attitude by the man sat behind the till!! Not quite sure if he’s the owner or not, but having an attitude like that, I’d rate it a zero if I could! Went in for some drinks with some friends and was rudely sat down. Noticed right away he wasn’t happy at all! We carried on and had our chats and our drinks as a catch up and stay for around 45 mins. As we weren’t even attended to for the entire time we sat there, I asked him for the bill politely as I was heading to the loo and got a blank stare back. Came out and heard an “amigo, amigo” as I walked past him as he couldn’t even be bothered getting off his seat to drop the bill off at the table. I figured he was trying to get me to take my bill to my table and I wasn’t his “amigo” so pretty much just ignored him. A waitress finally brought the bill over. Added was a service charge which I gladly took off as non of them deserved it. The cheek, the rudeness, the audacity. You are forgetting people leave Google reviews. There are tons of better places around and would not recommend!!!

Small and local Mexican restaurant. The staff were very friendly and it had a good atmosphere. The food was nice but fajitas and tortilla chips aren’t hugely different in a restaurant to when you have them at home. The chicken wings are nice and I’d recommend them.

Wildly overpriced for take out but the food is good enough.

The food here is always good. Tasty and reasonably priced. The service is excellent. We were seated outside under heat lamps. Complimentary blankets might be an idea as the weather gets cooler as it does get a bit nippy. Recommend the margaritas and mojitos.

Overpriced food. Cheap diner looking food, far from the quality you would expect for those prices, also some of the tablewear was cheap plastic which rounded up the whole experience. Service was good, they were nice and attentive. Unfortunately it didn't make it for a high star review.

Food was excellent. However service charge is applied automatically which is slightly annoying/americanised, especially considering the cost of the food. Lovely staff.

First time to La Casita and won’t be the last. Nice little restaurant with friendly, helpful staff. Draught lager was decent and food even better.

Extremely poor value. The food itself is ok, nothing special, yet they charge an extremely high price. Disappointed, look elsewhere.

Another wow restaurant, great selection of Mexican food washed down with wonderful margaritas. The chicken wings are absolutely to die for, crispy savoury and mouthwatering with a selection of really hot dips. We love this restaurant when we are visiting Chilton and this is our second visit. The nachos are oozing with flavour and they’re great sharing starter.

We saw the overall review of this place and decided to give it a go. We are extremely dissatisfied and disappointed. We ordered the Tacos Al pastor, chicken tacos, corn, tortilla chips and guacamole. The guacamole was warm and paste like - not authentic at all and had no flavour. We sent it back. The chips came with a salsa that seemed to have been kept out for a while and once again warm and had a strange aftertaste. The tacos arrived and they were awful - the chicken seemed like frozen chicken and not fresh. There was once again no seasoning. The tacos Al pastor had grainy meat lacking flavour. We told the waiter about this yet they charged the full amount. I prefer not to leave negative reviews but this was truly a bad experience. Mexican food is vibrant with flavour and is fresh - this was nothing like it. We spent nearly £35 to go home hungry.

Was in London visiting from the US. Great place for Mexican food! Gray ambience and service was amazing.

Vegan and vegetarian options lacked a lot of flavour, we didn't try any meat options. Food was quite expensive too. Staff were friendly.

Cracking little place, with fantastic food. There's an authentic feel to the menu, which sets it apart a little. Lovely to sit under the veranda.

After travelling to Mexico a few times and being completely immersed in the culture, food and music, La Casita certainly delivers a real level of authenticity. After having a number of their tacos it tasted just like being back there again. As an avid lover of mezcal I was very happy to see they had a good range of these, would definitely come back again!

The best Mexican food and drink outside of Mexico! If you like authentic Mexican food, you must go here! Incredible flavours and a great variety of dishes on the menu. The service is good, the decor is cute and quirky, it can get very busy as it’s only tiny inside but so worth the wait. Make sure you trust the server when she tells you the hot sauce is hot…! Amazing Micheladas!

Poor experience. 4 mains delivered to a table of 5, mine missing. Chased it several times as no explanation or apology given, was told 'don't worry it's coming'. Then saw a succession of other meals delivered to tables who'd arrived long after us. My meal turned up after all my companions had finished theirs. Still no apology or explanation. Only got an apology when they wanted us to pay the bill (nothing knocked off). Sadly my meal wasn't worth the wait. Only giving this 2 stars rather than 1 as my companions said they enjoyed their meals. Got the impression staff didn't want to be there. Shame because I'd found this place good in the past.

Omg I cannot express enough exactly how good this place was!!! From service by Andrea she was so attentive and courteous!! The food was soooo tasty and fresh!! If you have never tried Mexican food then you need to try this place. This will be one of our regular go to places for food. We went to Chorlton to try a different place to eat… a greek. We walked past La Casita and decided to go there instead. We made the right decision, the food was lovely! We will definitely be back.

La Casita... or as I like to call it, the Small House of Chorlton. Really great food and attentive service. Always has a good atmosphere and consistent with the quality of food. Would recommend pretty much every dish on the menu as they are all delicious. Unknown fact... if you order in Spanish and shout 'Vamos!!!' at the end of each of your orders, you might get a free shot of Mezcal! ;)

La Casita, lives up to its little house name. A very small establishment indeed. What's to know? Of the things sampled, vegan nachos, steak and chicken fajitas these are my thoughts. The nachos were great. I wasn't expecting much from vegan nachos but they were really nice and part of a 2 pints and nachos deal so why not? Came with pico de gailo fresh salsa and 3 dips mild, medium and hot. Medium was a smoky flavoured dip and hot was habenero. Packed a kick but nothing to worry people who enjoy a madras. The smokey dip was a delight and added a flavour layer to the nachos which were generously loaded with salsa jalapeños, cheese etc and were very good on there own. Took a while (short staffed) to arrive but seemed freshly made in house. Wasn't clear if the salsa and dips were intended for the nachos or the mains but were used through out. As for the fajitas these were lovely too the steak and chicken both had the characteristic flavours of Mexican marinade and the slight bit of burnt spices flavour that is integral to flavour. The steak was tender and trimmed so no fatty grisly bits. Would have liked an option for how cooked the steak was rare medium etc but it really didn't matter due to how good it was. Served on s wooden plank with pots for rice, cheese, sour cream, refried black beans and 3 freshly made tortillas an extra tortilla could have been useful or if they were each slightly bigger, but again minor issue there was no chance I was getting all it was served with on 3 tortillas it didn't really matter. La Casitas small house nature caught us off guard mid way through when 3 of 4 of us had fajitas served and a second round of drinks were ordered. There was definitely a table space issue due to the large boards and skillets that things are served on so consider your space when ordering drinks etc. Overall a good eye for quality despite short staffing, great simple Mexican flavours done well with good portions. So no surprises... But i would like to see some real regional Mexican taco options on a specials board, I know there's 100s of different taco recipes in Mexico we never see them here in the UK, I feel a combo of three different regional taco styles would enable them to truly showcase Mexicos vast food scene and transport us all on a flavor journey of Mexico. I hope these guys do well and can upgrade to bigger premises so they can show us what they are truly capable of. Would I go again? Definitely!

Attentive service and good atmosphere at this cozy Mexican restaurant, sad to say that the food is far from being authentic. The tacos al pastor we ordered were generous in quantity but the meat was very dry, also the tortilla didn’t feel fresh as it would break into pieces. Wouldn’t go for a second visit.

I used to visit La Casita frequently and the staff were lovely, polite and accommodating. However in the last month or so new staff have started working there who are extremely dismissive and take far too long to take your order. All of this was forgiven, as the food was lovely, until two weeks ago when I became extremely unwell for several days after eating at La Casita (specifically the chicken wings). This has completely put me off visiting and I would generally not recommend visiting/taking the risk.

I don’t take the decision to leave bad reviews lightly, but I feel it is my obligation to warn the people of Chorlton that this restaurant absolutely SUCKS. The service is horrendous, the staff are people with no social skills who dont want to be there, and clearly have no experience working in restaurants. The food is awful, i had pork tacos which were so dry and tough you could use them to build a house with. I don’t think the chefs have ever been to Mexico, because this certainly is not Mexican food. There is nothing positive to say about this restaurant at all

Really really tasty and very authentic Mexican tacos and burritos. Tried the pork tacos, pork pibil burrito and Aztec soup. Went here because The Drop (great Caribbean place a few doors down) were unexpectedly closed, so wasn't expecting much, but it was a blessing in disguise. Food was so tasty, good beer on draught, staff friendly and helpful in choosing food and a calm laid back atmosphere. At first I thought it seemed expensive at £8+ for 3 tacos but when the food came out I realised that the portion sizes are very generous and quality is top notch, so completely worth it.

Nice place and atmosphere with friendly service staff but the food is just average. Sadly, well over cooked chicken wings and churros, and our burrito was average, nothing special.

Amazing food. Incredible flavours. We will deffo go back. Great staff, they worked really hard and looked a bit worn out! Only thing I would change is bring back proper menus. Don’t like QR code menus and having to scroll through my phone and then make a note of what I want.

Great little place serving fresh authentic Mexican food. Best Nachos in town and big portions all round. Lovely little outside front area too.

Amazing food. They best hot sauces I've tastes (I'm a hot sauce fan) I had the Aztec Soup and the Pork burrito 🌯 high of which were beautiful. And I obviously washed then down with a fee Sol

Food may look good but the hygiene is poor. Tables were not cleaned from previous customers, 2 glasses of wine came both with lipstick marks around the glasses. Take more into consideration than just the look of the food when visiting the restaurant. It has a five star hygiene rating, bit of a joke as the hygiene at this restaurant was last checked by Manchester council in June 2017!

The food was tasty but the tables are small, cannot suit a family with 2 children.

One of our favourites in Chorlton. Bit of a guilty pleasure (with the amount of cheese we opt for) but food is always so good. Staff are very friendly and has an authentic feel.

The staff were all very friendly, attentive, and helpful. The atmosphere was great, especially in the outdoor space because it had been a really hot day. The food was fabulous. I am not a fan of pork but their pulled pork chimichangas are amazing. And to top it all off it was not overly expensive considering we had 3 courses and a bottle of wine and it came to under £70. I will definitely go back.

The prices are very high but the food is very good. It's the best I could try in Manchester. The food is usually very tasteless.

Arrived for our booked table at 6.30 and sat in the outside area which was very quiet when we arrived but by 7pm it was getting busy. Food: I have better Mexican food but it was ok, just ok. Lacking in depth of flavour which is hard to do with the dishes we ordered and the items that should have been crispy were little soft and flabby. 3/5. Service: I have received better service at a McDonalds - we were rushed during every course. I had to stop both the girl and the guy taking our platter prior to finishing the contents. I really hate being pushed to finish and it’s hardly a fast food joint so completely unexpected. The girl who served us was polite if a little intrusive but the guy was just pretty rude. On this basis alone we won’t be returning as customer service is the key to our repeat business. 1/5

Go with an appetite! The food is amazing and the portions are GENEROUS! The cocktails are excellent. Tiny place but doesn't feel cramped. And the staff are very friendly. Great place, great value.

Great service, disappointing food. Staff friendly, service good, drinks great, but food far from authentic. Mexican food is poorly represented in the UK, let alone Manchester. This place did not do Mexican flavours justice. It is nice if you want to try something different, but the flavours were lacking and certainly wouldn’t encourage me to come back for a 2nd visit.

Visited for a friends birthday in January and had great service. The food was delicious and well priced. Staff were very busy but still smiling. Will defiantly be back.

Not too sure about this restaurant. It was quite cold and draughty but it was a cold day. Food to mee was not really Mexican. 😕 felt the prawns in garlic sauce tasted more like tomato soup and the prawns were a bit rubbery. Hate not giving a good review. Not keen on nachos neither. 😕

AMAZING! Have been looking for a Mexican restaurant for quite some time and La Casita is just the best! The food is just like in México, the service is amazing and the environment is nice! The prices might seem a little high, but the portions are big! Like a proper Latin meal! 10/10!

First time at La Casita and will definitely be returning. Nice, authentic feel to the restaurant with Mexican music and friendly staff. Staff were really accommodating to my nut allergy which is always a good sign. Nachos to start (no sogginess) and then Steak fajitas for main (perfectly cooked).

Yummy and seems authentic Mexican (not tex mex), but no guacamole as standard with the food is pretty disappointing at a Mexican restaurant. I didn't realise before ordering, but I believe you can order it extra for £3 ish.

Very cosy place and suitable for relaxing. If you are also a big fan of spicy food, it's really a good place to visit

Staff were lovely; the restaurant is adorable; cocktails were nice. Sadly the food tasted awful and completely inauthentic. The guacamole was the color and consistency of runny snot, and the veggie burrito had mushrooms and sundried tomatoes in it (!?!). Most importantly, within hours all three in our party were violently ill with food poisoning, including a pregnant woman (who was forced to go to A&E) and an 80-year-old woman.
