nice enough restaurant in terms of decor - however food was distinctly average - burritos were dry and they failed to acknowledge that I had booked on the fork with a 20% discount - just said it was a fault in teh booking and not applicable - no attempt to even offer this as it was clearly their mistake - server not sure if they had any sauces like mayonaise - just wanted us to order dips from the menu. Overall a disappointing experience and customer service needs to improve and they need to honour promotions when they have this as an option or get rid of them.

Welcoming atmosphere, well designed with loads of attention to detail in the Mexican decor. Burritos and loaded fries are delicious and Churros are the best I’ve tasted. Excellent bar, house lager, cocktails etc are spot on. Highly recommend a visit.

Had a lovely evening meal here as part of a large group. The food was delicious, I had the corn ribs and the birria tacos and would definitely order again - although the whole menu sounded lovely too! The service is friendly, and attentive but not interfering - the perfect level. Thank you, I’ll be back.

Best Mexican restaurant in Greater Manchester. Food is to die for, aesthetic is on point, has a real warm feel to the place, games you can play at the table, range of alcoholic drinks and Matt & Alice are so welcoming and friendly. Not to mention more than reasonably priced! So good we’re going back for my 30th. Couldn’t recommend more!

3rd time here, I would reccomend The Mexican to anyone. The staff are incredibly friendly and really care about the customers. The food is amazing and the drinks are really good portions unlike alot of places that serve tiny drinks. This is hands down my favourite restraunt. I will keep coming back.

If you are looking for authentic, tasty Mexican food, great drinks and the best, most friendly service, look no further because ‘The Mexican’ in Fallowfield has it all! We took the family here recently, and had an absolutely brilliant night. There’s a great vibe here and the food is so so tasty and plentiful!! (boxes are available to take leftovers home!) Veggies are very well catered for (the cauliflower wings are to die for!) and they have a great choice of cocktails (and mocktails) which we all loved! It was generally agreed the Burritos were the best we’d ever had (and we like our Mexican food!) ‘The Mexican’ is family owned, and Alice and the team are so welcoming. They really go out of their way to make you welcome, and the service is absolutely spot on! Our first visit here, but most definitely not our last! 5 stars all round! Thank you for a fantastic evening x x x

What a fantastic find! The food is top notch, the wings are the best I’ve ever had, worth going just for those, let alone the cola pork tacos. The vegetarian options were great for the veggies in my party. Service is great and really friendly. Loved the mocktails too. Will definitely be back!

Loved it here. Took my dad for fathers day, I drove for 30 mins to get here and glad I did. Was greeted with a warm welcome from friendly staff. The decor and paintings on the walls are great. My dad had a burrito and I had cola pork tacos, we also had Pollo loaded fries and honey Chipotle chicken wings the food was lovely, they also have a good selection of dips including a peach and jalapeño which ive never tried before and was lovely. They do Jarrito soda, my favourite it the cola and I find it hard to find so was pleased they served this here. I was too full full for dessert but as it was fathers day my dad got free churros and also a free drink of his choice. I will definitely be returning

Been visiting here regularly since it opened. Authentic food served in a great setting owned and run by the whole family. Highly recommend. Large selection of cocktails and also games to play. Deffo try the chicken wings the mango habanero are delicious.

Friendly hosts, great food. loved the decor and music. reasonable prices. I traveled over half an hour to go here with my dad and I'm really glad I did and will definitely be coming back. my dad even got a free drink and churros for fathers day which was a really nice surprise

Staff were lovely and super friendly!! BBQ Wings were 10/10 however didn’t like the nachos, they tasted almost stale and bland, could have done with more cheese. Birra tacos were just ok.

It’s mine and my partner’s to-go spot when we need to go out, you can taste the good quality of the food! And the board games are the cherry on top of the cake!

Food was incredible, especially the honey and chipotle wings! Possibly the best wings I’ve ever tasted. All their sauces are made in house and they’re great. Didn’t get a chance to grab desert as had to rush off but looked amazing. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. 100% would recommend

Fantastic Mexican restaurant with wonderful ambience and atmosphere (loved the music). Attentive service and great food and cocktails. Really loved the burrito and habanero dip which had an extra kick. Definitely recommend the margarita cocktail and ask about the Paloma. Would definitely go back again.

Had a lovely meal here, great value and big portions of tasty dishes. Had the beef and pork, but good vegetarian options too.

I’d encourage everyone to go to this place. The staff were so lovely and the food was fabulous- in particular I’d recommend their churros as a dessert - we weren’t that hungry after having had our main but when we tasted the delicious dip and really well made churros we ordered the same amount again. Great value for money also.

Had a lovely meal at The Mexican in Fallowfield for my anniversary. The food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend trying their birria tacos, chicken quesadillas and the churros 🍫The portions and flavours were on point. The staff were super friendly and made us feel right at home. A fantastic Family run Mexican Restaurant in the heart of Fallowfield! The food is super tasty and very authentic, with a great variety and some really good deals available. We have tried almost everything on the menu and are always impressed with the quality, freshness and authenticity.The staff are very friendly and welcoming and really go out of their way to make you feel welcome, especially when we have dined with the children.The chap behind the bar, Johnny, is a real character and makes some terrific cocktails, personally I love their Margarita's, one of the best I've ever had. The atmosphere is highly creative with a great choice of Mexican music playing in the background, to some fabulous original artwork on the walls created by Alice, one of the Family members and Manager.The Mexican is becoming one of Manchester's best kept secrets and as an independent restaurant, deserves to do well! The Mexican is a lovely place to go and eat. I went with my friends and we all found something we enjoyed. The staff are very friendly, the atmosphere is great, and the food is very nice. I would definitely go again. It’s also great for cocktails in the evening!

Fantastic food and drinks the Tequila sunrises went down a treat. I asked the chef to hot up my hot wings and I was shamed to only finish two 😱 and managed to box the rest and finish them at home Thanks guys you made a great start to my friends stag :)

From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the vibrant hand-painted murals that make you feel like you've stepped into a lively Mexican street. I half expected the paintings to come to life and start dancing the salsa! Now, let's talk about the margaritas. Oh boy, they're like a party in a glass! Each sip is a little slice of heaven, with just the right balance of tequila and citrusy goodness. Trust me, after a couple of these, you'll be doing your own impromptu salsa dance in your seat! And the food? Every dish is a symphony of flavours that will make your taste buds sing mariachi tunes. I'm pretty sure I heard my stomach shout "Olé!" after the first bite. So, if you're in the mood for a culinary fiesta that'll leave you grinning from ear to ear the go to The Mexican with friends, family or for a romantic meal!

10 degrees outside, even less inside. No heating at all. Only 3 people in restaurant and food came cold. When spoke to the young lady she just kept saying he had just cooked the chicken. The chicken was just about luke warm, the plate was cold as was the cheese sauce, and the nachos. The bottom of the plate was swimming in water where the pico de guia hadn't been drained properly. I can only say, save your money and spend it elsewhere! Not good.

Drove over to Manchester today as my wife and daughter were going to see Strictly in Manchester, Usually the city centre is rammed afterwards with queues to get into even mediocre restaurants. As we were parked on the Fallowfield campus I suggested the Mexican on Wilsmslow Road (directly opposite the campus entrance). Great decision - food and drinks were excellent. Each of us had the taco's and they were outstanding. Will definitely return and help this family business. So when you drop your little one off or visit them forget the chains of Nandos and Wagamama and head here! Only criticism is they didn't have my fav of stuffed jalapeños - just can't seem to find them anywhere these days on Mexican menus.

I have been today and the food is great. I really like it and I will return for sure. What I didn't like was the music, it wasn't my taste. I would have preferred listened mariachis music other than that excellent.

So happy I found this place! I have struggled to find a Mexican that tastes amazing and has vegetarian options. I found it. Customer Service: top tier! The gentleman serving us was super friendly. Checked in on us and allowed me to modify my order. Food: Absolutely incredible, it tastes authentic. Generous portions. My partner got the birria tacos and said they were some of the best he's had. For us the food didn't have enough spice but I'm sure they'd make it spicier if we'd asked. You can add spice but you can't get the authentic flavour in most places. The food took about 30 mins to arrive but they have games so it didn't feel like a long wait and it allowed us time to put down our phones and play a game together. Drinks: really good not got any complaints! Overall an amazing experience. I would definitely come again.

tacos and burritos 5*. the loaded nachos are not loaded, its basically build your own loaded nachos, which felt a bit expensive

Third visit tonight. Everything still excellent - really welcoming family team, decor, drinks (and 20% off food in January!!). I had pollo burrito, my wife had veggie chilli. The presentation seems to have improved and the food is still great. Definitely recommend. We'll be back...

The Birria Taco’s are delicious! Super tender and full of flavour. To be fair, all the food on offer is packed full of flavour with an array of tasty, not too spicy condiments for those of us that don’t like things too hot. The atmosphere is chilled and the staff are friendly and welcoming, especially the delightful little Hugo! It’s truly a family run business, and you can tell so much thought and care has gone into creating an inviting, authentic Mexican restaurant. They also have a really cool range of liquors available. Sadly im driving tonight but will be back to try the pineapple gin soon!!

Amazing food, the baria tacos were full of flavour and the burritos were huge. We also had the pollo fries with grilled chicken, and the smashed avocado with nachos. Chimchuri, peach jalapeno dips were my favourite, along with the dipping sauce that came with the baria tacos. Alice the owner, along with her partner were lovely and attentive and just made the experience even better, she introduced us tp some very nice tequilas, some of which we have never tried before. Lovedthe painted art work that Alice did herself, just made the place feel more authentic. All in all, a lovely family owned restaurant, nice atmosphere. We would highly recommend, and we will be back again. Thanks guys👍

Had an amazing evening at the Mexican! The food was exceptionally good with subtle variations on the usual dishes you would expect. The beef chili was homemade and so tasty on the loaded tortillas. We tried every variation of wing which were expertly balanced in spice and fruity flavour. You can tell they take pride in their food and the prices were really good! The staff were all wonderful and the decor and vibe is also very bright, engaging and inviting. Plenty of games available to keep the kids off the screens too. Overall an excellent night 👍👍

Absolutely fantastic! Great authentic food and brilliant service! Had the chicken quesadillas and the beef chilli burritos and they were delicious, so filling and we were able to take whatever we left home. Margaritas were great too, we only wished it was busier!

We ordered on just eat but just eat let them down so they called us to explain- I went to collect our food and they were really lovely. The restaurant looks amazing, I nipped to the loo and the toilets are lovely. Also they wrapped up the food really well so it was still hot by the time I got it home, and both me and my partner were really impressed with the burritos we ordered, and the sweetcorn ribs were delicious. Thanks for your amazing customer service and great food! We will be back!

We work just down the road from The Mexican, and have been waiting for the opportunity to visit for a work night out! Alice and all of the staff managed our large group of 18 tired teachers brilliantly - pre-ordering was simple, and the menu and portion sizes were explained really clearly. We all enjoyed a lovely meal, with great service, good beers, and a lovely atmosphere. We ate early, but by 7pm, there were a number of other full tables and a good atmosphere. Having heard the story of how this restaurant really is a family run business, and how hard they're all grafting, it was lovely to be able to support them and I know we'll be back.

Excellent food - have been into the restaurant before once or twice but this was the first time we’d had food delivered. The food arrived hot, on time and was as tasty as it had been in the restaurant. This will be a new favourite for us I think. Glad this place is finally delivering food.

This family run restaurant is a great addition to Wilmslow Road. Tequila cocktails and wide variety of excellent Mexican foods. Vegetarian and vegan options too. We'll be back.
