The best restaurants serving Japanese food in England

The food was bland. We could not get a jug of water, despite it being 6:30 and not busy. We had all ordered alcohol but wanted a jug of water too. After asking 3 times I went to the the bar. The miserable older waitress shooed me away back to the table and eventually brought water. The younger girl seemed friendly and smiley. The older lady seemed to think we were an inconvenience. No smiles, abrupt answers, very surly. The food was all bland and pretty tasteless. We had 5 different dishes and nothing tasted of much. The Laksa was a bowl of coconut milk with noodles in it. No fresh herbs, crunchy ginger etc. The other dishes all lacked excitement. Edible but not exciting. None of the dishes had coriander, basil, or anything to lift the dish. Disappointing. We won’t be back.

Just brilliant. Food was as good as one can get, menu was full, and staff beyond brilliant. We grazed and had an unconventional order and everything was just perfect. Anyone living near here should visit!!!

One of our most favourite restaurants! Out of this world flavours. Never had a bad meal. Just delicius! We are vegan and they have amazing options.

Restaurant empty at 1800. Burger arrived cut into it rare, not good for a burger, 2x noodle chicken and prawns, prawns uncooked not good for prawns, 2 other meals. Noticed food was undercooked immediately challenged staff, they offered to remedy, presumably by reheating, rejected offer, paid for wine, soft drink, prawn crackers and left.

Excellent food and service and reasonably priced.food is freshly made and very tasty would definitely recommend and will be going again!

Rude impolite staff members. As per old reviews, chicken katsu is clearly undercooked even though their comments page say otherwise! Avoid avoid!

Vaya joya escondida cerca de Waterloo. Nos basamos en las calificaciones de los asesores de viaje y no nos decepcionó. Nunca he comido comida japonesa como esta y me abrió los ojos. Empezando por el restaurante en sí. Es impresionante, como entrar en otro mundo y no como parece el frente del edificio. La cocina abierta es genial para ver. Es bastante pequeño, así que tuvimos suerte de conseguir una mesa. La comida es deliciosa aunque creo que probablemente me saltaría los copos de pescado la próxima vez, pero eso es solo un gusto personal. Se sentía fresco y ligero y como nada que haya comido antes. El precio se sentía muy razonable para el centro de Londres. £ 50 para 2 de nosotros incluyendo una propina. 2 entrantes, 2 tomas de corriente, una bebida alcohólica y una bebida sin alcohol Ve y pruébalo por ti mismo

Fuimos para un almuerzo entre semana con una reserva en su lugar. Este es de 3 pisos con sólo 2 camareras. No mucha gente, pero muchos conductores deliveroo viniendo las camareras eran hasta cierto punto ocupado con llevar los pedidos. El servicio era lento, pero la comida era buena. Generosas porciones. Bueno y variado menú. La comida estaba bien preparada, excepto que era Yakitori quemados. Claramente este restaurante podría ser fácilmente 5 estrellas pero necesitamos más personal y más rápido servicio. Un grupo de 5 trabajadores de oficina y no nos sirve vino en el tiempo y a la izquierda antes de comer. Debería haber sido posible para servir a ellos como no muy concurrida. Los precios aquí son razonables. Los propietarios deben emplear más gente para hacer de este un muy buen restaurante. Otro punto más importante es la señoras loo. Bastante nefasto y no limpio. Esto no debería ocurrir.

Introduced to this place earlier in the week and loved it. Really delicious food and love that you can choose your size of rice, spice and a side too. Really tasty and great value. Second visit and had the thinly sliced beef curry. Delicious. Not a place for a long meal but a perfect refuelling before heading off to theatre or something!

I feel bad for waiting so long to write this... after visiting on a whim with friends, I don't think I would want to go anywhere else to eat. The staff are amazing, we literally had our meals designed for us based on what flavours we liked by the amazing chef. The staff were so knowledgeable about the food they could offer, everything had a story and they made you feel like nothing was too much trouble. For anyone suggesting the wait time was too long, this isn't Mc Donald's, all food seems to be cooked from fresh and tastes incredible. If you want immediate feeding go to KFC, this is a quality restaurant and that takes time! The wait, which isnt an issue, is so worth it. Have a bottle of wine and a chat and you will be eating before you know it. My food was so delicious, so tasty and well prepared I just couldn't believe I was in St Helens. There is not one bad thing I can say. Very few tables so you feel looked after, and like you are lucky to be there. Just try it, you will not be disappointed, and the value for money is outrageous! You will be gutted your stomach cant hold more! AMAZING!!!!

The best sushi I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Amazing price for the amount of sushi you get and quality of ingredients used. Also a great selection of non sushi dishes. My Nan had the Katsu chicken curry which was also fantastic. The Chef and waitress were great and very welcoming when you arrive and makes sure you have everything you need while you are there. Would highly recommend anyone to try this wonderful restaurant.

I was with a group of friends celebrating a birthday, the super nice place there is DJ all night, the attention of the staff spectacular as well as what we tried; sweet potato tempura with yuzu shichimi yasai and the MAKI ROLLS was very delicious. The acceptable price according to the place. I'll definitely come back

Had a delicious lunch. Was too busy eating to take good pics. Loved the whole experience of the food being cooked at the table. The beef was delicious as was everything we had. Especially loved the prawns, chicken wings and bbq veggies. 50% off on most dishes until next week. Definitely worth a visit. Very good service.

Soy un visitante frecuente de este restaurante, pero en esta ocasión, me quedé totalmente sorprendido y consternado por los retrasos y la prioridad de los pedidos para llevar sobre los clientes de PAGO! El número de mensajeros que irrumpieron a través de la puerta durante toda nuestra comida fue una broma. El gerente estaba abrumado y el restaurante tenía poco personal. El gerente incluso confirmó que no había suficiente personal para hacer frente al alto nivel de demanda. Pagar 75 libras. 00 para una mala experiencia gastronómica es totalmente inaceptable y Tonkatsu debe decidir si son una comida para llevar o un restaurante!
