The best restaurants serving Italian food in England

We recently got takeaway pizza from Moltobuono. We used to go to Pizzarova but they started making their gluten free crust childrens size while charging more for it. Their excuse was that it came frozen so they couldn’t stretch it. I came here hoping things would be different as they make their own GF crust. Unfortunately it was a disappointment. Despite being £3.50 more for a GF base, the pizza was significantly smaller. I can’t imagine anyone being OK or not disappointed when ordering a more expensive product and getting one which looks like a child's size pizza. There is really no excuse for this as they could have easily made it the same size. It is indeed possible to make the same size gluten free pizza as I have 1. Have experienced it before and 2. Have made it myself. Quality wise it was fine. It’s not the worst GF I’ve had. It was not super dry or hard like some places, but on par with other restaurants with decent crust (texture wise). But as everyone who has to eat GF knows (as it is not always a choice), getting charged 200% more for food every day food while it simultaneously being half the size is very tiresome. For this reasons I will not be returning or recommending as this was a clear choice they made. I would also be happy to revise my review if they started making the GF base the same size.

Food cold , veal steak was not a steak, it was sliced like sandwich ham. Dried and curled up , left under lights at the pass!

Nice food but turned up stone cold and the drinks are advertised as bottles and a can turned up £2.45 for a can steeeeeepppp

I’ve been to the “cottage bar and bistro” twice in the last couple of weeks and have enjoyed the food on both occasions. I had the mussels to start followed by spaghetti with seafood. Both were nicely cooked with fresh seafood and very delicious. Previously I had calamari and sea-bass which were also lovely. The portion size was perfect for me. The service was efficient and the chef was able to offer an alternate for our friend who had specific dietary requirements. I will return as there are other dishes on the menu which I’d like to try.

Tried to visit Francesco & Amorosa for another superb Italian meal, but found the restaurant closed. Oh no. We have been eating at Francisco's for a few years now and always have fantastic food served with passion and friendship. The end of an era. Wishing you both a long and happy retirement. Over 20 of us visited to celebrate my 50th birthday and we had the best night! Food was amazing, service was excellent and the atmosphere was 10 out of 10. After our food, the music was turned up and we had the best night dancing away and had such fun with the waiters. Thank you to Puntos for making it such a special night. Highly recommend visiting this restaurant, you won’t be disappointed! A little gem that you must visit.

There used to be lots of great restaurants in south/ central Beds but over the last 10 years or so they've dwingled down to a number of pretty average ones serving food no better than a microwaved take away on a plate. Well we'd heard good things about the Thai at Woburn and the ambience seemed good so booked a table for Thursday before Valentines day. I'd asked for a quiet table as we often find restaurants so noisy these days and we weren't disappointed when we were shown to a pleasant table in the RHS room which was empty . So full marks for the welcome and heeding our request. We opted for the more expensive set meal for 2 (£26 each). It came pretty quickly, a little too quickly really as we wanted a leisurely meal and time to talk. First course we opted for the pancakes and crispy duck. Six pancakes and barely enough duck which certainly wasn't crispy but otherwise OK. The main course arrived hot on it's heals, boiled rice, veg in thai sauce, chicken red curry, beef strips in black bean sauce, sweet and sour prawns with pineapple in sweet sauce. The plates were cold and as it was a chilly evening and the room wasn't too warm so the food was not very hot to start with and in fact fairly cold by the time we finished. The sweet prawns were quite nice but there were only two each, and the chicken curry didn't scale any great culinary heights. We'd had a similar Thai kit curry from Sainsburys the week previously costing a fraction of the cost and not much inferior to what the Woburn Thai managed. So to summarise. Venue and friendly waitress service very good, Prices average but would have preferred to have had better quality food, preparation and quanty and paid more. Quality of food -poor, felt like the ingredients had come out of the fridge and only made acquaintance with the spices very briefly in the microwave before being served. I've had far better take aways. Service much too fast for what we wanted, no condiments on the table or offered at all. Plates cold and no hot plates to keep food warm.

Booked here for Christmas dinner with my family total of 10 people. What a day probably one of the best Christmas dinners I’ve had. The food was exceptional, staff were fantastic nothing was an issue no rush in eating your food as I’ve had in other venues the table was yours for how long you wanted. Definitely booking for Christmas 2025. Thank you for a lovely meal

Lovely little restaurant, amazing food and friendly staff. Went here on a recommendation and so pleased we did. Delicious olives and the fish for main was perfect. We will certainly be returning very soon.

It's a very, very large menu here. Service was outstanding, but the food was less so. An attempt to make a small room atmospheric fails, I'm afraid. Very expensive and one of those places that charges extra for potatoes and vegetables etc.

Service was great by every single member of the team. Food was excellent - could not be faulted. Fabio even suggested adding spicy njuda to my husband's pasta which was absolutely spot on. Very friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend

What an amazing gem of a place. We went for drinks and light bites and the food was amazing. Lovely atmosphere outside on a warm summers evening. We can’t wait to go again.
