Below average restaurant, Below average food and the manager is rude and obnoxious with no people skills and no idea how to run a business. A positive though is the other waiting staff who were lovely but who seemed scared by the managers bossiness. Such a shame. Needs a new manager to make this place more personable and improve the food.

Tonight Was Our First Visit To DaVincis on a Sunday.

visited here with my partner for his birthday and was disappointed to say the least. The pasta had very little taste although my partner did say his steak was okay?....As regards to the service, it was annoying, as no sooner had i put my cutlery down the plates were whipped away, i was asked 4 separate times if everything was ok with the meal which was quite irritating, and when eating the main course i thought id stop for a few mins for a rest, yet as soon as my fork was put down the waitress came from nowhere and started to take everything away, needless to say i wont be returning.

Good service and a change from all the Asian restaurants in the area. Nicely cooked meal, and a reasonable price.

We went as a family one Sunday and in all honesty, our roast beef dinner was every bit as srumtious as home made. Beautifully tender beef, very flavoursome gravy and perfectly cooked fresh vegetables. The service us prompt and friendly. Highly recommended

Great food the best staff and lovely atmosphere. Nothing is a bother. I have been with my husband, with friends and for a big family occasion and each time the service was outstanding. Been many times and will go many more.

Recently had a family night out at this restaurant, overall it was excellent, food spot on, service very good and full value for the money we spent, for those of you thinking of going ring and book as it gets really busy at the weekend.

Came here on a Friday night. Friendly and helpful staff. Happy to recommend and cook what you like. Didn't have the wine I asked for. Gave me a better bottle at the cheaper price. Made a real effort to make you feel welcome

We were actually looking for a different restaurant and couldn't find it so decided to go to Davinci's. Pleased we did !They have a great children's menu and although my kids love pizza and pasta they went for something different. I had a pizza, it was good quality ingredients and I finished it, crusts and all.I'd go again and recommend to friends.

I have visited this lovely Italian restaurant on Ocean Road in South Shields many times. Wide choice of dishes and food is always perfect. Staff are very friendly and always do their best to accommodate. Would definitely recommend a visit.

I know this restaurant from various visits and they never disappoint. They are child friendly and always provide good service from very friendly staff. Today I wanted to highlight the lamb kleftiko which is really a Greek dish but so well executed here that it needs a mention. The lamb shank was cooked to perfection and the addition of the feta cheese as part of the vegetable gravy mixture added such a dimension that I can only describe as inspired. My only advice is go there and try it. I propose you won't be disappointed. I forgot to take a picture of the lamb but here is a pic of my daughter with one of the best ice cream smiles I have ever seen.

I had the Amatriciana pasta which was DELICIOUS! The pizzas are also delightful! Definitely the best Italian eatery in South Shields! Lovely staff also!

Visited with 2 friends and we all enjoyed our meal. I went on my daughters recommendation as she said it was really cheap but we didn't find that as our glasses of wine ( which were large ) were £5.95 so that bumped up the bill. 2 of us shared a garlic bread which was just ok and another had a prawn cocktail and with our 3 meals and no desserts or coffee we all paid about £18. Considering some similar restaurants are now doing 3 courses and a drink for £12.95 we thought that was a lot.Having said all this we still had a lovely night in a nice atmosphere and the service was good.

Came here with a work colleague after a day in the area on business. I had the Calamari and a well cooked rissotto while my friend had mozzarella followed by chicken with a nice sauce and salad & fries. Couple of drinks each and a coffee at the end came to £44 which we thought was pretty good value. Restaurant was quite busy for a Tuesday night, but had very good service from the friendly staff.

We have visited this restaurant twice now and have had the best meals we have ever had on a night out. The fillet Steak is to die for I have never tasted anything so good, it cuts like butter and melts in your mouth. The staff are very attentive and extremely pleasant if your visiting South Shields and looking for a great meal at a great price DO NOT pass this restaurant by you will not be disappointed I would recommend to anyone

My wife and I revisited here on Saturday 20th. June after enjoying it for the first time the week before. The staff were welcoming and very pleasant. Happy hour prices were available and the food was excellent. Fillet steak was cooked exactly as I requested and was a good size. The pasta dish was probably the best tasting pasta dish my wife and I have tasted. The house wine was Pinot Grigio which was ok. Service was good but food took a bit to arrive as it had just been cooked prior to serving. Well worth the short delay. We will be back for more.

Dined here on Saturday 20 June, can't fault the service, although our starter was delayed as it was sent to another table. Food was very good. The only complain was the surcharge for sauce, when the dish comes with a sauce. I have been to a number of Italian restaurants and had had pollo a la creme and have never been charged extra for the sauce, makes absolutely no sense at all

Had a lovely tasty meal here with my family/friends. Staff are very friendly and brilliant customer service and at hand when needed. Would recommend this Italians to anyone who enjoys home cooked food from scratch and a good atmosphere.

we loved it here, a very friendly traditional italian place. the music from the street entices you in and you will not be disappointed! the best lamb kleftiko ive tasted outside of greece! yes this is correct greek food in an italian! we had a window seat and watched everyone dance to the music as they passed...just brilliant!

After walking out of the Rattler due to the appalling service the service here was second to none. Served straight away by very friendly polite waiter who was very attentive throughout. Nothing was a problem and he even made polite chit chat along the way. Food tasted great and was served quickly. Only wish we had gone here first! Definitely recommend.

We enjoyed two lovely meals in this restaurant. The food was very well presented and quite delicious. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. We would recommend and certainly revisit if in the area again.

Just been to Da Vinci and have to say it was lush. All 3 starters were fresh and full of flavour. Main coures 2 were pizza and not a crumb left. I had a gamberetti risotto , stuffed with prawns and king prawns and packed with taste. We had all had pudding , a bottle of wine and drinks and the service was great. Will be heading back. Great price also

very deceiving prices advertise out side fillet 11.95 inside I paid an extra 8pound to get a sauce chips were over done and sloppy got charged for food we didn't have all in all won't go back there's a chain of restaurants down the road where you can have a chicken breast with any sauce for the same price of the sauce ,ps ,even that was weak

We happened to stumble across this restaurant whilst looking for something to eat.The waiter was very welcoming. The menu had a vast array of choice, my partner and I chose a burger. These were freshly made to order and worth the wait. The food was displayed very artistically on the slate plate.note to self eat the burger first as this was very filling and I was a little disappointed in myself for not finishing it all.Would go here again if in the area.

We come here regularly and the food as always was very good, there is enough choice in the menu to make regular visits possible, staff are very friendly helpful and always proffessional you are looked after from the moment you walk in without being over the top

Went for lunch. Service was excellent starters were also good. Pizza was average, very thin base, like a crisp and almost no tomato but toppings were ok.Good value but not amazing.

Have been dining here with my parents who live in South Shields for many years now. We are always greeted with an enthusiastic warm welcome. The food is always lovely and the portions are more than adequate. I particularly like the chicken dishes, which you can have with chips or veg if you're watching the old waistline. They do a cracking bottle of house white wine and we're always graced with a cheeky little complimentary shot of amaretto before we leave (or a lollipop for the dad who always seems to have driving duty when we go here...coincidence, I think not!)If you want a well priced, tasty Italian restaurant with a local feel in sunny South Shields, don't hesitate to try this place. You won't be disappointed!!

Visited here with a group of friends for my 25th birthday last Wednesday. Its the 2nd time I've been and wont be the last, food was great, service was decent. One small little downfall, just a tiny downfall - The room itself seems to be so cramped, everything was just so compact. Its not a complaint guys so keep up the good work and thank you Chris for your good service!

This was our second visit after finding it on valentines day. When we arrived we were met straight away by a waiter and showed to a table instead of standing around.As the restaurant is small there is always waiters circling but do not bother you. We ordered a cheesy garlic bread which was not too greasy and very cheesy. Next was a steak cooked to perfection with chips much to my boyfriends satisfaction and a very spicy pasta for me cooked perfectly just large portion. We also order desert which included a nice lemon cheesecake.During the meal the cArd machine broke meaning a run to the cash machine but they were professional and made you feel at ease while I waited. This is a great cosy restaurant for a couple and great for parties too. The service is faultless and will visit again

Can not fault the service we received today. My son and daughter we over the moon with the warm reception towards them, the food was lovely, top quality fresh and piping hot , very tasty, all of the 5 of us were very satisfied with our meal, I would recommend to anyone to try this little gem, and the very warm and friendly approach from the staff

First time I have been here for a meal and it seemed like a good choice for a bite to eat. We shared a garlic bread with cheese and whilst it was quite nice it was soaked in olive oil, a little bit too much for my liking. Our mains of chicken were nice enough, cooked well and tasty. Portion sizes are good too and I like the choice of either chips or vegetables. The desserts I suspect are pre bought in which is a shame as Tiramisu is one of my all time favourites. I didn't enjoy my dessert at all. All in all a lovely little restaurant, staff friendly and average food.

This could have been a nice night as the food & drink was good and was excellent value for money, however our experience was ruined by the actions of the arrogant and sarcastic waiter, the one who speaks to his colleagues in his local accent but then insults & disparages customers while speaking in a mock Italian accent. I can genuinely say that we will never return exclusively because of his actions on 27 March 2015.

What a lovely place! Stayed in the area for two night on business and ate here for both. The staff could not do more for me, made me feel welcomed and at home, Chris the maitre'd was professional and courteous, even had a drink ready for me without even ordering on my second night! Food was delicious, gorgeous homemade tiramisu for desert, could not fault it. Will definitely eat here again when I'm next in the area, thank you for your hospitality.

Ordered take away tonight. Amazing. Had insalate caprese, steak Diane and peri peri burger plus kids meal. All outstanding as you'd expect in restaurant. Fab value for money. Move over indian and Chinese! We've found a new favourite take away!

for the first time for valentines day and they had made an effort with good decorations and spacing between tables for a bit of privacy. We're seated straight away and given a menu which was reduced which was a bit disappointing. But when the fish cake and bischetta starters arrived we cleared our plates. The mains the steak was a bit rare but I liked the heart pizza it was cute. The deserts we had profiraroles which were very nice. I was happy they with the drink choice as I drink cider which sometimes isn't avaliable apart from strongbow and happy to return. Our service was bit rushed but faultless and we loved it. Also the take away menu looks temping. Will probably return to try the full menu as the set menu didn't have carbonara which was strange. Bit definitely in my top 5 Italians

We place take-out orders via just eat an app, we always get the pollo ala crema and its always stunning.We visited and got the same meal in house which was just as amazing as ever.Fabulous place with fabulous food.

First of all lets mention how friendly is the staff and how welcomed they make you feel!! The atmosphere in the restaurant is just amaaaaazing! Candles, nice music, warm and friendly staff. And secondly here comes the food... and your mind is just blown away!! How nice that was!! We had a loveliest Birthday celebration with my friends. And to be honest i am thinking to come back again and again. The owner was very friendly and polite.Well done guys! You are awesome!!

This has got to be the least authentic Italian restaurant that we have ever eaten in. I had bruschetta to start which was cold and pretty tasteless; my wife had prawns which just tasted of salt. I ordered sea food pasta for main, which was just awful, it was like some type of cook-in sauce from a jar, only worse, with tiny from frozen mussels, tiny shrimps and three in-shell mussels, one of which wasn't open with a handfull of week old rocket plonked on top. My wife had chicken meatballs that were just ball shaped chicken burgers in the same horrible sauce with the same 'ready for the bin three days ago' rocket. No bread on the table, no ice in my glass of water and cheap paper napkins. The staff were friendly enough, but over did the put on accents a bit. I read another review that said that this is the best Italian in Ocean Road; It's a good job that we went here first then!

went a few months ago just passing by, & the food was fabulous the service was great, we even got shots of dissaronno at the end as we asked for our bill for free! We were seen out the door by staff, the only downside i had was i sat facing out the window where id like to of sat facing inside the restaurant (theres only so much going on on ocean road) im due to be going again next monday for my boyfriends birthday, love it!

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, lovely potato skins but nothing matched the skins, garlic bread with tomato was bland and barely warm/cooked. Chicken inferno was mediocre, chips not cooked properly and even overheard others saying the same thing. Would consider going back just to see if it was a slip up!

One of several Italian restaurants in or around Ocean Road in South Shields, Da Vinci has to be among the best. The traditional, cosy restaurant is very atmospheric and tables are situated well - close enough to each other to give an intimate feel but not too close that you feel your conversation can be overheard by other diners. The menu is typically Italian with a wide selection of pizza's, pasta's, chicken dishes and steak dishes. The prices are reasonable, too. There is also a good wine list and drinks selection from the well-stocked bar. The owner greets his customers as though they are long-lost friends, with regulars being treated almost like a member of the family! The two handsome waiters who were working on this particular visit were friendly, smiley and attentive and orders were taken efficiently and politely. The food was absolutely delicious, too! My companion and I both opted to start with Minestrone soup, which was hot, hearty and full of flavour - just the thing to warm you up on a cold December evening. My partner then chose the Special Italian Mixed Grill, which was astounding value for money at £15.95 - it comprised a sirloin steak, a chicken fillet, black pudding, two Italian sausages, two fried eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes and chips. I selected the Chicken Fajita, which was served on a sizzling skillet with sliced peppers and onions and with tortillas, sour cream, grated cheese and tomato relish to accompany. We shared a bottle of Pinot Grigio, which was excellent and, all in all, had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We'll definitely add Da Vinci to our list of favourite restaurants!

7 of us chose this restaurant by the smell of the food, and the happy music before we even went inside. The staff were friendly, helpful, and gorgeous. The menu was varied, tasty and very reasonably priced. There was a good selection of wine and for less than £20 a head we had a fabulous 3 course meal with drinks.

I'v ordered food several times, it has always been brilliant. Tasty and different. also got a free bottle of wine which was table wine, loved it. good service and also payable by card which is a bonus.

Having never eaten with this restaurant before, I thought it best to look on here for feedback... I was not expecting great things after reading a review from atu93 below...I ordered through the restaurant as opposed to just eat and could not have wished for a better service. The food came very quickly! I was expecting to wait at least an hour but came in 30 mins. if atu93 was usually happy with ordering through the restaurant why would he then order through just eat?!! technology can fail therefore order through this lovely family friendly place instead to ensure the order is correct : )))) the food was amazing and can recommend the carbonara! delivery driver was happy as larry and very easy on the eye if i do say so myself. : )))

First time I've been in Davinci's. Warm atmosphere, friendly staff and lovely food. I recommend it to everybody to give it a try.

This review is about the delivery service and not the restaurant. I am Very disappointed. I Decided to order from da vinci's last night. Have ordered from here before but this time I decided to order online using just eat instead of ringing us as normal. They have a special on which offers a free pasta dish with orders over £20. This was perfect for us as it meant we would receive our 4th dish free. However this was not the case. Online they have a special requirements and special offer box. Here I wrote in the free pasta I would like to receive. However!! When the order came this dish was missing and when we complained to the driver we were told we did not qualify for the offer if we order though just eat and should have rang the order In. This therefore meant my mam did not receiver her pasta and as she is a vegetarian she could not eat any of ours. I do not think this is fair. If I had rang up with the same order I would have received the free pasta. However because I ordered online I did not. Even though I spent the same amount. Also, the food we did receive wasn't great. The pizza looked like a £1 frozen Iceland one and the seafood pasta consisted of cold pasta and 3 bits of chewy squid!

After serving frozen meatballs, the waiter offered to heat them up for me. I refused and asked to choose another dish. I got another pasta dish - no cutlery! Had to ask twice for Parmesan cheese. Finished my drink but never asked by staff if I would like another one. The restaurant was busy and the staff certainly looked after their regular customers of which I wasn't one. At the end of the meal when asked if everything was ok my husband replied "yes apart from the frozen meatballs". The manager's response was quite rude when he stated in a very abrupt manner "I have already apologised, haven't I?" . In any decent restaurant this would have been a sincere apology - this wasn't. I was very disappointed given that this restaurant promotes itself as a family run business, it should care about its customers and food hygiene. I won't be back ever again. My advice to any other runners up for the Great North Run - go somewhere else for your pre-run pasta, unless you want the runs of a different sort!

This is a family run restaurant. Although the owners are not Italian themselves, the food may be said to be quite close to Italian cuisine. The prawn salad and the lasagne were particularly good and so was the wine on offer. It also has a romantic ambience and when I was there the music of Laura Pausini was being played.The prices are reasonable but the portions could probably be a bit bigger, for the Latin eater.

My hubby & I popped into Da Vinci after 9pm one Sunday evening & were warmly welcomed. Given the time, there were only a couple of other tables in & they soon finished leaving only us in the restaurant, but in spite of this the atmosphere was still lovely due to the cosiness of the restaurant & the apt music.We found both the starters & mains to be very generous & tasty. We had the chefs special prawn starter...the prawns were an impressive size and cooked perfectly. Our mains were equally good. The menu has a large selection..lots of choice including fajitas!The 2 waiting staff on that night were very friendly & helpful, a lovely local restaurant we will definitely visit again.

My husband and i have just visited the restaurant and were very pleased with our meal. The restaurant is located on ocean road which is between the town centre and the beach. It is a busy street with a variety of restaurants. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The food options are good and provide generous portions at reasinable prices! Definately worth a visit.

Food was delicious! Portions are huge! We went for a family dinner and were impressed with not only the food but the early bird menu is a terrific option. I would say after dinner last week at Bravi's that I now prefer Da Vincis. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice Italian dinner.

We ordered from the £9.95 special, my wife was told her course had vegetables with it. Upon receiving the bill, I noticed that one of our meals was charged at £13.95. I was not impressed. The food was nice but average. It also doesn't feel very italian as all of the staff are of Eastern European backgrounds. It's ok but there is strong competition from other Italian restaurants and I'd probably not rush back here.

I have visited Da Vinci's more than one time. Great value for money choice. Ideal to relax having your meal.Perfect Italian cuisine with many more Mediterranean dishes available.The owner and staff are very friendly. Very good quality of ingredients served in creative combinations. Experiment with the flavors.Totally recommended!!!

Me and my partner always pick divincis either for relatives birthdays or just for a date night ! The whole family love it their and there is always something on the menu for everyone and the staff are more then happy to adjust the menu to suit you. The staff are very friendly and we get along with the charming manager great as were regulars were we've come to know what a hard worker he is so you won't be disappointed ! I'd strongly recommend the canneloni it's one of my all time favs but only from divincis !

I visited this restaurant with a large group of friends for a work leaving do. Most of us had the £9.95 three course special which was great value for money. I had homemade pate to start, which was delicious and my main course was chicken in a garlic and rosemary sauce. It came with a side dish of vegetables, and again it was very tasty. I finished off with tiramisu. Although, there was a large group of us and the restaurant was quite busy, the service was quick and efficient and the staff are always very friendly. I will be making a return visit very soon!

This is a lovely little restaurant. There was plenty of choice on the menu which was very reasonably priced. We found the atmosphere really pleasant. The staff were very welcoming and extremely helpful. Would definitely return if we are in the area. :)

We went to this restaurant for a meal prior to driving many miles back home to Wiltshire! We were with family, who has a gluten free requirement and so this restaurant suited them.The meal was £5.95 for a starter, main meal and coffee or icecream. We had small children and age 9 and 10 children so this suited them as well as the adults. The Food came out quite quickly and was hot. The meal size was very genrous and plentiful. The starters were of a good size and the potato skins were to die for. The children had ice cream and the adults had coffee - all of which were good.The service was good and the 2 waiters serving us were attentive. The only complaint one of our family members had was that that one of the waiters didn't speak very good english and so could not fully understand what drinks we had.Overall - lovely food and good service.

This is a fairly authentic Italian restaurant with a decent choice of dishes, even on the set menus, which are very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is cosy, and the staff very friendly and helpful.

We had a group of 11 having a dinner on a Sunday night. Food was fairly priced, £5 a starter £9 for a pasta and a really good bottle of house wine £14. The atmosphere was very relaxing and cosy and the decor is typically Italian. The staff were excellent and very attentive and the service had good timing. The goats cheese starter is fantastic, the baked mozzarella was ok. Pasta marinara was fantastic and really good strong flavours, but even though there were lots of mussels, they were very small.Overall a very good experience, the staff were really friendly and the food is fairly priced. Would definitely return.

This was my second or third visit to this Italian restaurant and once again a great meal was produced by the chef really enjoyable,with great attention shown by all staff but especially Mel what a great waitress.We shall definitely return

Me and my partner got a take out from this place as friends had told us it was very nice. I got chicken diane and the chicken was not cooked the way i like it, had burnt skin. The chips were not home made, was very disappointed and wouldn't go back.

When someone tells me they went to a good Italian Restaurant my thoughts turn to The Flying Pizza in Leeds! I grade them all from there, including Ambrosias in Newcastle. This restaurant located in Ocean Road, South Shields is surrounded by similar businesses along the whole Road. I pass the Restaurant daily but have never eaten there. The Road at the moment in front of the restaurant is undergoing extensive restoration because of a history of flooding and bad drainage and these properties are pretty upset about their dilemma and have advertised it so.it will take months to put right so I will not be going near it. . .at the moment. The parking facilities are non existent and the rear of the establishment leaves a lot to be desired. . a back Lane where you can observe the rear kitchens! Sorry, but it does not interest me especially when I read other Trip Advisor comments about the food.

Basically this place is better than Pacino's but not as good as Bravi. It's nice, clean and well decorated. The food is good and well priced and the service is good.

Arrived for a meal on sat 15th febWe wernt offered the regular menu only the "valentines" menu which was the same as the normal menu only difference is they put £2 on every course Food was very average & the service was very rushed, felt like they just wanted you in & out.Definately wont be returning!!

I went there with three members of my family and they greeted us and got us to a table in no time, the service was excellent. When our drinks were brought over, we realised the coke was flat, we told the waiter and he made us more. Once the food came, we were all pleased with our meals and at the end of the night, the bill wasnt a problem. Good food at really good prices.

7 of us came for a meal here after wondering down the strip in South Shields looking for originally, a pub still serving meals at 9pm. As a last minute decision we wondered into here and hoped they had enough room! The staff quickly rearranged the tables to fit us in and checked we were happy with the arrangement. There was a lot of choice on the menu at reasonable prices too! Our meals were served within super quick speed and they were delicious. One comment on our table was "Wow, this is the best Calzone I've ever had". It really was great, the deep fried Squid I had to start was brilliant, never had such thick squid and so much just for a starter! I also don't usually like black pudding but when it was shared around the table and I tried it, it has definitely persuaded me to eat it again. The only minor niggles I have with this restaurant is that, they didn't check whether our meals were ok until we had finished eating, and when we got the bill, the pints of beer were more expensive than stated on the menu, overall very good.

I have attended this restaurant on several occasions in the past and left very highly satisfied with the quality of the food, service and value that is until last night. I attended a christmas function with ex work collegues in THE NEW AMAZING FUNCTION ROOM WITH ITS OWN BAR. It has not changed since my last visit to the chicken hut apart from the building of the bar built in totally the wrong place. My wife was constantly bumped by guests going to the bar or the toilet and this room is supposed to accomodate up to 35 guests. You would only get 35 in if you removed all of the tables. We had a party of 24 and guests were sitting back to back, not a very sociable situation. The buffet was a joke. A tray of salad lettuce tomatoe and cheese poatoe skins with dip pizza which was nearly as thin as a poppadum and supposed to be garlic bread but was chilli garlic. Portion wise there would have been enough for 15 guests and we requested a further tray of garlic bread. When this arrived again it was chilli garlic and after a 20 minute wait the potatoe skins were cold. The main course was diabolical consisting of meatballs in sauce and pasta and the alternatives were chicken and mushroom in sauce with the same pasta. Several of the guests complained they could not cut the meatballs and several guest complained about the lack of choice of sauces as some of them do not like spicey sauce. The alternative to this was 2 trays of (You have guessed it,) Pizza. The staff had to be reminded that ice cream and proffiteroles were on the menu and had been forgotten about and after a further delay, duly arrived. At the end of the evening a guest tapped her plate with a piece of pizza to say she was leaving and that summarises the quality of food served as a buffet in the chicken hut. I still think highly of this restaurant and I will return but select from the menu as I have done in the past. My advise, stick to the menu and order individual meals The buffet is a rip-off and certainly not value for money.

Went for romantic meal, walked out within 5 mins of being seated after half of the small restaurant has been handed over to a prat with a very loud microphone attempting to sing are we human by the killers then try to be funny inbetween murdering songs. My partner & I were lookin forward to a romantic nite and instead had to shout at each other just to be heard over the idiot with the sound system. Bad bad idea for what used to be a lovely Italian restaurant with character and great food

When i order coke i do expect coke not a peppsi pured under counter out of 2l extra value bottle, i do appreciate amount of food I get, but why does it mean, of robbing people on drinks value

This was our first visit to DaVinci's but it certainly won't be our last! The food was fantastic, the staff really friendly and the prices were very reasonable too.

6 of us visited Davincis before going to Customs House to see a show. We advised them that we didn't have long to eat and that we had to be quick. This was not a problem to them. They gave us the menu which included Happy hour as well as a "special" menu. 3 courses for £9.99. We had gone to Davincis for the happy hour as it included risotto. We were told they didn't have the happy hour on as they had the special instead. I pointed out that the menu they had given us still included the happy hour, so asked again for the risotto, as it was not on the special. Eventually they agreed to do the happy hour for us, but not before the Manager was consulted and we had to insist. We also had a 15% off voucher curtesy of customs house. When I presented the voucher they refused to honour it saying that they would not make any money out of our order. Again after a long discussion with the Manager he agreed to honour the discount voucher.I have to say the food was excellent but unfortunately, I will not be going back, I do not like being put in a position where I had to argue for the happy hour or the discount which we were rightfully entitled to. The website should contain disclaimers, against the use of the Customs house discount vouchers and that the Happy hour is suspended when "specials" are on! That way we would have booked somewhere else.

had a lush night out at Da Vinci's - Italian Restaurant with my lad last night as allways, we had great food, great wine and great service. we go every week.

We (4 adult tourists from Canada) were pleasantly surprised to find this little gem of a restaurant on our visit to South Shigelds. Some of the best Italian food all four of us have ever had; what a pleasant surprise! Very fair value for the expense.

i went to Da Vincis for a meal with my friend, ordered the pollo pepper, when it came i soon found out the chicken was raw. i was horrified as i have been before and was lovely, but this really let me down.

My wife and I really wanted a nice Italian meal out but we couldn't get a babysitter. I had seen an advert in the Shields Gazette that Da Vinci in South Shields also had a takeaway which was music to my ears....or my eyes in this case. I have eaten in here a couple of times before and the food is incredible....which is why I was happy to drive from my home 10 miles away to collect some pre ordered food for takeaway.We ordered a Kiev pizza, a garlic bread with cheese and some Linguine Bellini and to top it off, a couple of garlic mayo's so that we could dip our crusts. All of this came in at a VERY respectable £16.50.All of the food was delicious. The only down side was the pasta was slightly cold but that is my fault because I had to drive 10 miles home before I could get stuck in, I can assure you it was piping hot when it was handed to me.If you're looking for some high quality Italian food at a price that isn't going to break the bank then don't even bother looking anywhere else, just go to Da Vinci.To top it all off, you're guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome from the cheeky chappy with the curly hair called Payam, who must be the owner. You are made to feel like you're a long lost friend every time you visit. A true credit to Ocean Road and to quality food whether you're dining in or taking away.

We visited for meal In the early evening. It was very quiet - just another 2 tables were occupied. The welcome and initial service was good but the whole thing slowed down as the time moved on! We ordered garlic bread to start - it was really horrible. Didn't seem cooked through - was all squishy in the middle. We sent it back to be cooked longer - it was a little better when it came back but still not nice! We both had pasta main courses - you'd think they'd been cooked by a different chef - both were really excellent! We then had dessert - ice cream was ok but the tiramisu was bland and obviously not made on the premises.Overall it was ok but I wouldn't dash back!

Second time we had visited during another trip to the area to see family. Lovely hot, tasty, fresh meals. Staff very helpful and attentive. Good meal deals makes it very good value for money. Well worth a visit!

We chose to visit Da Vinci's in South Shields for Sunday lunch. We've visited numerous times before, but for an evening meal and we've always enjoyed the fresh and tasty produce. After passing the restaurant, we saw that their Sunday lunch was very reasonably priced. We entered the restaurant and were greeted by the manager with a smile and provided with menus and a high chair for our little one. After perusing the menu, we were asked to choose drinks. My husband ordered an Italian Peroni beer, but it was unavailable. No alternative was given unfortunately. As a result, we both chose large soft drinks.For starter, we ordered a portion of potato skins and pâté. The potato skins were well cooked and crispy; the pâté was smooth and tasty, it was served with fresh bread, drizzled in balsamic vinegar. However, it was served with a sickly sweet jam, which may have been from a jar (not the onion and tomato relish advertised on the menu). For main, we both ordered roast beef lunches. The beef was succulent and tender and we were provided with a vast assortment of beautifully cooked vegetables. We ordered extra gravy after seeing the huge portions.We were asked if we wanted anything for our 16 month old and I requested a small portion of vegetables and a Yorkshire pudding. The portion for our baby was huge; including 2 Yorkshire puddings and a portion of vegetables. A great positive at Da Vinci's is that kids eat for free with 2 paying adults. As the portions were so large, we were unable to eat dessert!At just over £20 for 2 courses and drinks, we'll certainly be returning. The staff are very welcoming to families and accommodating even without making a reservation. Although, I'd be reluctant to order the pâté again! Well worth a visit.

ferry off should have been eating at sambuca 1 but called in at da vinci off spec what can i say super food and her indoors got to meet mr robson green what a great night she is still buzzing what a lovely restaurant we will be back .

A lovely meal at a great price, service was great, very friendly waiter and waitress who were very attentive and personable. Will definitely be re-visiting soon.

we went there tonight after reading the reviews we chose to give it a go . the food was very nice staff welcoming and the restaurant is nice and clean . we will be going back and recommend to are friends
