Volare Ristorante Italiano in South Tyneside

From the first moment when I stepped into the restaurant, I was deeply impressed by the atmosphere in the room, and the friendly and kind staff, the divine food, I felt exactly like in Italy, the chef Zia was excellent, although I had some special requirements, the menu was delivered exactly as I wanted it for both myself and my children. RECOMMEND WITH CONFIDENCE. Unfortunately I can't give more stars, if it were up to me, I would give 10+.

Just been to Volare and I do not recommend. The waiters were very rude — giving us dirty looks and getting angry at us for asking for a glass of water that she had forgotten to bring to the table. The food took a while to come and wasn’t as nice as I’d hoped. Overall, I won’t be back any time soon.

Nice little authentic Italian restaurant the staff were very friendly. We had Gamberoni al Aglio it was nice but lacked flavour and finesse, my pasta dish was amazing and my partners pizza fabulous a nice relaxing night. One thing I thought the toilets could have done with a thorough scrub all round and the taps not very clean .

Comfortable & friendly atmosphere. Food, service & price all make a very well run relaxing experience.

Service is amazing here! Everyone is so friendly, wasn’t sure on what to expect with the reviews being mixed but the food was really nice, I struggle to find an Italians who do a nice spaghetti bolognaise, both me and the husband enjoyed our food, also reasonably priced , I would return here again :)

Lovely food and fab service, we for restaurant week £20 for 3 course it was beautiful. Second visit and excited for the next one already!

We went for Sunday lunch. Delicious meal served by a very friendly waitress, who could not do enough to ensure you left feeling happy and wanting to book again.

I will start with the positives, the pinot grigio, 8.50 for a 250ml glass., was nice. The free tiramisu was nice. The place was icy cold. The food was disappointing. Potato skins ok, partners garlic bread was oily, cold and under cooked. We waited ages for our main courses which you dont mind for nice, freshly cooked food, however a cold undercooked calzone and kiev pizza arrived followed by rosemary chicken that was tasteless and lacked sauce. Lots of takeaways being collected, clearly the main focus. Give this place a wide berth

This is a fantastic restaurant that I am lucky to live nearby to and have been many times with my wife. The food is great and the service is absolutely amazing. The waiting staff are always so nice and friendly and always professional. Plenty of choice on the menu and excellent value.

Always good food and friendly service. We go often with family, including my 6 year. She loves it in there and is always made to feel special. Food is delicious, seafood risotto and the specials are 5*. Would recommend!

Wow. Delicious food, if you like a good sharing starter, go for the doughballs! Delicious and you get a platterfull!

Visited for an early tea before going to the nearby cinema. Food was really nice and the staff were even better. Will defintely be returning.

First time visiting this quaint little spot in East Boldon. Our hostess Louisa looked after us beautifully all evening, service with a smile. The food was tremendous and full of flavour. The menu was varied but not overly complicated. Very reasonably priced. Will definitely be coming back. Excellent.

Just had the BEST gluten free Bolognese pitza I have ever tasted!! The base was ultra thin and crisp but not hard and the topping was delicious and didn’t slide off unlike some toppings on gf Pitza’s do. Would highly recommend a visit to Volare😋 Staff very friendly and not at all pushy.

It is amazing, the food has the same test as the one back home, amazing service and great prices.

Food was authentic and delicious. Staff were very friendly and efficient who made the children feel very welcome and went out their way to cater to our child with multiple allergies.

The staff are so welcoming. Food is of a high standard. We always have a lovely evening and enjoy visiting once a month, never to be disappointed. They cater for families really well and our 3 year old equally enjoys it!

We have eaten here since it opened on a regular basis, as a couple, with friends and with many members of our family. You will NOT get value like this , in my honest opinion, anywhere. Literally nothing is too much trouble, the staff are all professional, courteous, friendly and just nice people. I would recommend most things on the menu but the sharing tomato garlic bread followed my Filet Rossini, finishing with Tiramisu all washed down with a lovely well kept Morettii and a bottle of Merlot. Highly recommended, try for yourself!

We had a great experience at Volare on a busy Saturday night. We sat upstairs and were well attended to by the lovely Livio and another waitress whose name I did not get. The food was delicious as we tried recommendations from Livio. The meal was very reasonable priced with large portions. Excellent friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We will be back!

Lovely local restaurant always delivers delicious Italian food

Food nice as always (well so far so good) but took a while, unfortunately put upstairs and we were the only table up there, despite booking weeks in advance. So no atmosphere and just felt strange, as if we had just been shoved out the way. More importantly I just seen the hygiene rating of 1 ! If I'd seen this before our visit, certainly wouldn't have gone! So for these reasons, more importantly our safety, we won't be back, which is a shame because we have been many times in the past.

Always Really lovely Food with very friendly staff

Ordered pizza and chips for my house bound mother for 17 40pm, they confirmed a delivery time for 17 50pm, by 18 20pm it still had not arrived, i asked for text update. Text said 18 25pm. By 18 35 pm, it still had not arrived. Phoned volare, to be told driver would be 2 minutes. Nearly 15 minutes later, still had not arrived, phoned volare back to tell him not to bother delivering it.

Excellent visit for a birthday dinner. We had a 4 year old with us and the staff were excellent with her. Menu is really wide ranging and I'll be back to sample some of the different dishes. Food served hot and promptly and very tasty at that. I had the Mussels in tomato, chilli and garlic sauce and spaghetti with aubergines, cherry tomatoes, basil and mozzarella.

Second visit since last October and sorry to say it was virtually the same experience. We were seated on THE worst table…I can’t believe you put clients there …upstairs far corner with chairs all at differing heights , hardly any cushioning and practically falling apart! Aside from this it was almost an hour and half to our main course….staff were run off their feet….at times no staff upstairs , drinks order forgotten and hangry kids waiting for food. On the positive side, I have to say the girl who seated us / cleared plates was lovely, waiters were also very friendly, food was hot and pleasant when it came. Please please stop taking so many bookings as you are spoiling the experience….also you cannot seat clients at that awful table and expect them to be happy at paying an £80 bill for a shoddy table and slow food. We won’t be back

Absolutely disgusting. We ordered food to take away from this restaurant and were beyond disgusted to find MULTIPLE not just one but multiple hairs in and amongst our food. I immediately drove back to the establishment and handed them the food back, the waiter was very polite however the owner was beyond rude. He couldn’t bring himself to apologise to me (probably embarrassed as there were other poor people in the restaurant). Handed me my money back and ushered me out the door. I later discovered that this establishment has only been scored a THREE on food safety which is only generally satisfactory. They ought to be re reviewed for hygiene. I would avoid this place like the plague

A joint 70th birthday and first family outing since the pandemic turned out to be an absolute nightmare at Volare restaurant in East Boldon. I'm only pleased that they don't run a brewery as it took 45 minutes for a waiter to take our order...

Me and my partner went for a meal here tonight, or Atleast we hoped. We booked a table for half 7 and didn’t get seated for 15 minutes. When we were finally seated the waiter waved us over to the table? Very blunt. We got our drinks and ordered our meal and 45 minutes later, still no starter. We were pretty much ignored by the staff and as soon as I asked them if we can pay for the drinks and leave they weren’t apologetic and didn’t care we had a bad experience. To be honest it was probably for the best. Oh and also I asked for a Diet Coke which was like water it was that flat, they buy bottles of pop and do it that way.

Beautiful meal. Starters were huge and I worried we had over ordered but when the mains came they were the perfect portion size, beautifully presented and very tasty.

A lovely relaxing place to eat and chat. The staff are excellent. I can recommend the affagato for dessert.

I liked that we could park outside albeit on the main road. The service was good with friendly but not overbearing staff. The food was very good and served piping hot. The actual restaurant is quite spacious so we were not sat shoulder to shoulder as in some restaurants. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is that the evening we were there the place felt a little cool. There were 9 of us and by the time we had eaten we were feeling shivery. Apart from that I would definitely recommend giving it a try.

Very disappointing. We booked a table and they were too busy to cope. So it took 1hr10mins before we had our starter. Food was warm not hot. We were sat by the door so we're frozen. No apology despite the staff knowing how unhappy we were.

Was out first visit and we were so bitterly disappointed it will be our last! So very busy they couldn't handle the demand. Staff all seemed nice but pushed to their limits due the amount of customers. It was 100% capacity and we had to wait in the stairwell for our table to be vacated and reset. Waited 2 hours for our main course. It was so noisy with very harsh lighting not what we expected at all compared to the pictures on Google, we were looking for a quite little romantic place and this certainly isn't that.

Took our youngest daughter and her friend who had never been before, her friend loved it, especially the dough balls! The pasta and pizza were cooked to perfection yet again, the wine was perfectly chilled, we really can't fault out lovely friendly Italian restaurant!

Recently refurbished and has a lovely atmosphere. The staff were lovely as was the food. Had lobster ravioli with king prawns - amazing. Others had bolognese, lasagne and pizza and everyone enjoyed their meal. Only criticism is the long wait, They were apparently short staffed....

Today was our first visit and won't be our last! The service was friendly and nothing was too much trouble when accommodating the needs of our 3 children. The food was delicious and portions were generous.
