The best restaurants serving Italian food in South East

Visited for the first time on a Friday night with friends and wow do they get a lot right. The food is very very good (take a bow chef) and the sommelier excellent. Prices are also more acceptable than most places and the wine very reasonable with a more than adequate choice. In fact it is a very good wine list. But they need to get their act together when customers first sit down at the table. It's OK and understandable if on a busy Friday night there is a little wait for food, but take a drinks order straightaway. Then customers can relax with their drink looking at the menus. Stress released. And there is no point having 'while you wait' food options if you wait so long to order them that you might as well order your starter and main and forgo the while you wait options. And please don't put the cutlery on the table mats so that when you open the menu you wipe the cutlery with the menu covers that have been touched by others. The table mats you have fit the menus perfectly so simply put the cutlery by the side of them. Small point but nonetheless important from a hygiene point of view. All that said, the front of house staff were really very good and chef surpassed himself. The Chateaubriand was truly excellent. We considered having the tasting menu for four but note, it's not really suitable for vegans or pescatarians and you cannot order the tasting menu for three people. It's either two or four as they split portions when serving. There is easy parking in the nearby (3 mins walk) station car park and it only cost £2.90. We will return to this restaurant as there is much to like and a great find. It's just across the road from West Byfleet station if you dont want to drive. A starter and main will cost around £40

Esta fue nuestra cuarta visita en el espacio de unas semanas. Las pizzas son siempre excepcionales, un montón de ingredientes frescos. ¡Las fichas también son muy moras! El personal es acogedor, amable y no puede hacer lo suficiente por usted. El restaurante en sí tiene un ambiente cálido encantador con un toque íntimo. Habiendo viajado anteriormente a Italia, este lugar es uno de los mejores!

Esperó durante más de una hora para llevar pizzas de The Gorilla Kitchen en dos ocasiones ahora en The Star en Steyning. Nos dijeron en ambas ocasiones que la espera sería de media hora. Cuando le planteé esto al tipo que cocina la Pizza (en una furgoneta en el parking ) me dijo que tenía que esperar hora y media cuando salió a comer hace poco y que no se quejaba (¡así que yo tampoco debería! ) Lástima porque las pizzas son buenas, pero no se las recomendaremos a nadie en Steyning. Muchas familias jóvenes también esperan en el aparcamiento con un aspecto muy harto.

While I do agree with all the wonderful comments regarding the food, service and general friendliness I would strongly advise anybody who is getting sick to death of cyclists taking over a place to steer well clear. Sadly the cafe has been ruined by hoards of them who are not just contents with taking over the inside by moving tables about and shouting at each (other thinking they still have helmets on) but now lean their bikes up against the new Flower boxes, windows and outside tables making it impossible to sit anywhere. I do understand the financial considerations of this particular type business but as other cafes have now discovered this could be at the detriment of regular customers who will of course spread the word to others. Really sad that we had to walk away yet again today as we simply could not get to a seat either inside or out because of them so will not be returning.

Fourth visit and this one just as fabulous as the first three. Food and staff are amazing. open kitchen serving freshly made dishes. Simply brilliant. Thanks all, be back soon.

Best pizza ,not greasy ,very crispy and delicious.

I ordered pesto risotto but I got plain risotto

Visited here the first time with wife and friends all who had been before. Was impressed. Friendly welcome and courteous staff, quite big on the inside. I had steak cooked perfect while my friend had a pizza, the girls had the hake meal which looked and tasted fantastic. Drinks ok, wanted ale and had to have bottled doombar as none on draught. Drinks and food about correctly priced for this type of establishment. Will be going back for a second visit as lots of choice on the menu I'd like to try.

Been here a few times with the family - busy + quiet . Food/service is always good ! Shout out to Cristina our waitress , kids love her.
