The best restaurants serving Italian food in Tameside North West

Well, I don't usually leave reviews but on visiting Ornella's Kitchen I was compelled to. We are new to the area, love our food and began to research what we had on offer. We found Ornella's at the top of our suggestions. We read through some of their reviews and were sold on booking a table. On contacting the restaurant we were told their evenings were booked up until March! Now, for me, that speaks for itself. We managed to book a table for breakfast/brunch at 10am. Upon arrival the staff were lovely, the environment is very welcoming and warm. The restaurant doesn't seat many at once and this adds to the comfortable and homely feel of the restaurant. We sat looking through the menu and had trouble deciding as everything sounded so enticing. Then we were told that the WHOLE menu is available all day! Which you can imagine troubled our decision making even further. Finally we made our decisions. The meatballs and sourdough were excellent, simple, authentic food, absolutely full of flavour and the tomato sauce was to die for. The poached pear, gorgonzola and walnut salad was lively, fresh and had a wonderful balance of sweet from the pear and the earthiness of the cheese with the walnuts in between. The burrata, fig and radicchio salad was beautifully creamy, the figs were the perfect accompaniment, not too sweet and give an added texture. Also just to add, it was presented on the plate beautifully. The potato bun was also fantastic, the flavour of the gaunciale, that lovely, caramelised flavour from the fat that soaks into the freshly baked bun. The sweetness of the tomatoes, the freshness of the salad with parmesan and the perfectly fried egg made this the poshest bacon and egg sandwich I've ever had and also the best one too! Of course I HAD to order a portion of the skin on truffle oil and parmesan chips to the table too and again they were absolutely delicious, beautifully crispy and bursting with flavour. We finished our meal with a traditional Sicilian cannoli, chocolate chip, cream filled with little fruit compote on either end, one citrus peel and the other cherry. Again, not too sweet and the perfect way to finish our meal. Overall, we give Ornella's top marks. There was absolutely nothing about our experience that wasn't spot on. We are booked in again for early next year, you should treat yourself and do the same. You will not be disappointed. Thank you to everyone at Ornella's 😊

A huge thank you to everyone at Benvenuto for making my dad's 80th birthday party extra special. I really appreciate the hard work that went into preparing everything beforehand and especially on the day in feeding 33 hungry guests 😁 EVERYONE loved the food and had a great time. The service was fantastic. Highly recommended and most definitely one of the best restaurants in Tameside. The food and service is exceptional. Always. We walked through the door to be welcomed like we were long lost friends! Good selection of food on the menu, pizza, risotto, pasta etc. Also good selection of Wines. We went for a starter, which when it arrived was a good sized portion if a little big, but piping hot and excellent. The mains then arrived, we both went for pizzas. Both were freshly cooked and again excellent. All washed down wine a nice bottle of wine! Very good value meal in a lovely warm environment, happy to recommend and hoping to return!

Hektisk restaurant. Høyt lydnivå. Rask bestilling. OK mat. Ikke så mye som minner om Italia bortsett fra meny og vinkart.

Music too loud. It spoilt our night constantly saying ‘can you say that again’. On the whole food was good. Service could have been a tad better.

Great service from staff, very attentive, food was amazing and the restaurant itself (decor & cleanliness) was immaculate. We will definitely return!

Overpriced and rude staff, terrible atmosphere. Really trying to be a big city experience but the only thing that resembles a big city experience are the big city prices.

ad to ask for them back to use. Food portions are a little smaller but the food was ok/nice. What really left me feeling disappointed is that I asked to purchase several gift vouchers for family for meals as Xmas gifts, the waitress seemed really pleased with this and said she would send the manager over to sort this, only for her to come back and to be told I had to pay for them by cash? I'm not sure if this is the norm or what could be a valid reason for this, but I didn't have nearly £300 in cash on me. Suffice to say they lost out on a nearly £300 purchase because they wouldn't take a card payment.

We recently attended a wedding at Oaklands Hall. The staff are excellent here, they go out of their way to ensure you have a great experience. The 3 course meal was delicious and the staff were attentive and brought water when needed, they replenished the wine promptly and cleared everything away in good time. The buffet later on was also lovely, including some yummy chips which a lot of buffets don’t do but were very welcome. The toilets are modern and clean and no issues with lack of paper, nice little basket of toiletries too. The room is a good size and bright. If you were booking a wedding here in the summer you might be put off by the lack of outside space as it’s just the car park but it wasn’t an issue for the wedding we attended. I would say book your function here and you won’t be disappointed. The MC is very friendly and happy to help with any queries.
