La vespa used to be one of my favourite restaurants in London, unfortunately I assume they closed the restaurant and the place called “little Italy” bough them. The food is not the same anymore and is not a typical Italian food with Italian ingredients, is overpriced, honestly just save your money and go somewhere else.

Pepe serves great Italian street food in a great variety. Visitors can dine on pizza, pasta and other Italian-style cuisine. Pepe is popular with local residents and visiting tourists. My partner and me loved Pepe, we had a great tasty Italian lunch in London.

No worse than any other pizza joint. All claim Naples authenticity, but what we get are bland, soft, undercooked soupy pies. As one review had it “pillowy” meant as a compliment. San Marzano tomatoes in juice make for a watery mess with no herbs and no taste. London needs to get out of the fake Napoli deal and start offering some variety like NY style, deep dish, New Haven, Rome pizza Al taglio, etc. and for god’s sake, add some FLAVOR!

We fancied a pasta dinner and as we couldn't get a last minute reservation at our favourite Italian in central London we thought we'd try Cafe Murano, which is the little sister of the Michelin-starred Murano in Mayfair. Well it wasn't bad but it was just so very very ordinary. Among the starters, the bruschetta and the arancini were fine - in fact the former was a little different from most - and that was laudable - but the portions were small. But these paled into insignificance compared to a standard glass of (red) wine, which must have been the smallest size I've ever seen - and this really left a bad taste in our mouths. As for mains - the choices were extremely limited - and quite often that's good because those menu items are excellent. Of the three, the skate wing was decent but the sausage ragu and the gnocchi were extremely pedestrian.

Great food, portions middle size and it is enough to order 2-3 for 2 people. Not 4 as recommended. Unless you are very hungry. Freshly made. Good selection. Music is played but with the noise level in the restaurant it isn’t heard but just adds to the noise.
