This is a small, unassuming Italian restaurant that one might be forgiven for thinking probably offers standard high Street Italian fare. But it doesn't - the food is exceptionally good and easily rivals some of the best Italian food you'll find in central London. The pasta, high quality and al dente, was delicious and the sauces fantastic. The garlic bread was thin, light and crispy, the garlic and rosemary flavour a subtle delight. The desserts were brilliant as well. The service was a little bit basic and the ambience and decor likewise. But it doesn't matter and can be forgiven - the food is that good and amazing to find in this location. A classic and really extensive menu (especially for the size of restaurant) with simple, familiar dishes but all of it was executed brilliantly. A great find, a great chef and I highly recommend a visit.

I have wanted to try them every time I’ve driven past and today was the day. Easy to order. Really good food to go. Freshly made Margarita pizza. Perfect base. Lovely sauce. Eaten in minutes! And no… No chance of saving a slice for later. I paid £12.95 which I thought was slightly overpriced for a basic pizza. However, I’ll always try to support a local business. My experience was at the Northridge Way, Berkhamsted site.

Our Valentine's Day evening at Donatello's was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for a romantic evening. The highlight of our experience was the outstanding service provided by Cherish. Her attentiveness and genuine warmth made us feel truly special. She anticipated our needs with impeccable timing, ensuring our glasses were never empty and that each course arrived promptly. Her knowledgeable recommendations enhanced our dining experience, guiding us through the menu with expertise. The culinary delights at Donatello's exceeded our expectations. The pasta was cooked to perfection, and the pizza boasted a delightful blend of flavors with a crispy crust. Each dish reflected authentic Italian cuisine, prepared with the freshest ingredients. Cherish's exceptional service, combined with the delectable food and charming atmosphere, made our Valentine's Day unforgettable. We wholeheartedly recommend Donatello's to anyone seeking an outstanding Italian dining experience.

The food is top tier but watch out for hidden costs, they’ve now started adding a service charge to all bills, before it was only for large groups, which makes sense, but they now add it to every bill. So even if there is two of you having a 40min quick lunch, you’ll have to either pay a hidden service charge or have the awkward interaction of asking to have it removed. If running costs have increased, then increase the costs to your menu, don’t add hidden fees. Other than that, I can fault this place.

I had dinner with family and friends for several evenings, I tried different dishes, appetizers, first courses, second courses and pizzas, everything was really good, I recommend the Bolognese ragù, with the pizza it seems to be in Italy and then there are the brothers and all the wonderful staff. If I were to return to Watford I will definitely stop by.
