The best restaurants serving Irish food in South Eastern NI

Excellent on all levels. Waiting staff were welcoming and efficient without being in your face. Food was exceptional with a comprehensive wine list to complement it, including dessert wines which are increasingly hard to come by. We had 3 courses with wine, coffee and liqueurs and the bill was surprisingly reasonably. Staff, food, atmosphere and decor couldn't be faulted. We have recently eaten in The Muddlers Club in Belfast which has a Michelin Star and this place rivals it. Well done.

Visited for breakfast over the Easter break. Extremely disappointed. Any previous visits were excellent but something has gone very wrong. Service was the only good aspect. The flies that were swarming around the place was disgraceful. Wish we had left at that point but we had drinks and the order was being prepared. The quality of the food has reduced dramatically. The sausage in particular was terrible. The bacon was soggy, so it was left on the plate. Tasteless, poor quailty.Seems like cheaper ingredients. As it was always great up until this visit, feel it's a terrible pity it was so bad. Wouldn't waste money returning

Excellent service and friendly and the food was excellent 5 stars as i am chef and a food critic myself and poached eggs with avocado on sourdough with bacon was so delicious and amazing. LordDillion

Real country cafe, huge portions, pretty sure the lady taking our order was also making coffee and cooking so good on her for doing everything at once!

Tonn Ruray has very quickly become our favourite spot for a chill wee date day. 🥰  In the gorgeous town of Dundrum, it is literally the epitome of simple food done exceptionally well. The staff are impeccable, there is never a long wait and the food is very presented, hot and extremely tasty!  I would highly recommend Tonn Ruray, and have done to all of our friends and family. Simply can't sing their praises highly enough! The dark haired girl (sorry I didn't get her name) is so pleasant and helpful and nothing is ever too much trouble.  A down to earth, comfortable environment with great local, high quality food. The traybakes are as well 🤤 especially the caramel squares. Can't wait to call in again. Thanks for the great food, and service!

Having failed to eat in another quite well known establishment just down the road (far too long a wait) this place was a very welcome pit stop for my family. There was a very friendly lady from Preston serving us, a delicious curry slice (!) and other light lunch food. Nothing sophisticated but very welcome nonetheless! Recommended.

Saw the menus on their website & saw the pictures that they had posted & thought that this restaurant looked like the kind of place we would enjoy. What a disappointment! The menu was not what they advertised on their website, when we questioned the waiter about the menu he said that they hadn’t used that one for about 2 months. The presentation of our meals was most definitely not similar to the pictures on the website, the leeks must’ve flown over the leek & potato soup, would not recommend & we were very sorry we had taken our friends there & would most definitely not be back!!

Superb food. Staff so friendly and helpful. Homemade bread with marmite butter was fantastic. We shared a few plates, chicken was delicious. Finished off with cheese and a beautiful veda tart. Will definitely be back. Couldn't say a negative thing at all.

We visited tonight for an early dinner. We were unavoidably late for our booking but it wasn’t a problem. We had the best meal we have had in a long time! and that includes 10 nights of good hotels in England recently. The duck starter was amazing and salmon main delicious, side of sautéd mushrooms perfectly cooked. They catered well for my husband who has a severe garlic allergy and he enjoyed his meal with a delicious sauce. (most places say all sauces have a garlic base and give him dry dinners which he hates) The interior is lovely and staff very attentive, we will definitely be back soon. Thank you for a lovely evening.

My husband and I were there for lunch, it was busy, good choice menu, staff very friendly. My husband had one of the 'specials' mince steak pie, veg, potatoes. I had an all day breakfast cooked really good, not greasy. Will certainly be back and recommend to others.
