The best restaurants serving Indian food in South Lakeland North West

We came here last year when we were staying nearby and it was amazing then and again this March. The staff were fantastic, food awesome. One of the best Indian meals we have had. Thanks again.

We were very warmy greeted. All the staff seemd very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We opted for the set meal for two and every course was freshly cooked and served piping hot. Very tasty meal which we thoroughly enjoyed and would cetainly return again.

Good was lovely from start to finish everything was very fresh and served hot. Only thing is the front door, if your sat down stairs anyone coming in and out (which is constantly) the door constantly bangs i know it's minor but just not great when your sat beside the door. Very affordable will 100% be back

I first ate at this excellent restaurant in 2002 and have eaten there whenever I have been in the area since. Starter consisted of meat samosas with a side salad which were excellent. The main course was Lamb Madras, pilau rice, plain paratha and an onion chutney. I have eaten Lamb Madras all over Britain and the Lamb Madras here is the best I have ever eaten. The price was reasonable for a restaurant in a tourist area. I would certainly eat here again and would highly recommend this restaurant.

Tasty food, and fast delivery. Ordered on Saturday night. Delivery came within an hour. Reasonably priced for the Area.

Great communication before we visited on a couples night out, the place was really busy and had a great atmosphere. The staff explained everything exceptionally well. The food was beautiful and really good portion sizes . Special thanks to the bar who made me a special request spicy margarita - it was amazing!!! We will definitely return!!

I’ve known Tony for many years, Good kind hearted straight up Man, The quality of food has always been on point, i’ve read the reviews am astonished with some, it can only be from competition, or sad deluded people, genuinely been going their for 25 plus years, the lads their are great food has always been good!! I suggest you try it for your self💯

We were there last night to have our dinner but the man who called himself manager was so rude and doesn’t have any manner to talk to customers. We We ordered drinks but the way he talked made us leave outside without having any food

Food was fantastic and service so friendly. Would thoroughly recommend a visit. Particular favourites were the onion bhajis, butter chicken and garlic chicken.

Me & the wife were in Grange Over Sands. We love a curry & this place is the only curry place in town. We turned up just after 18:00 on a Thursday & know one else was in. It’s a small restaurant probably has around 10 tables. It’s a nice restaurant, nothing overly fancy booth style seating with the normal coloured lighting in the ceiling. It was a particularly cold evening & the restaurant even with the heating on was a little cold, however I’m not sure they’d be open that long. For starters The wife had Onion Barge, she said they were light & crispy. Also, massive in size. I had: The mix tandoori stater, which consisted of chicken tikka & lamb coffta. It was nice & fresh, I wasn’t tasting anything special just a mild meaty taste. The chicken tikka was my favourite out of the two, tender. For mains: The wife had:Vegetable Corma, the wife said she likes her Corma particularly sweet & this wasn’t all that sweet. However it was very nice creamy with a good potion of vegetables in there. For me: I had the Chicken Viderloo, this has to be red hot in spice no messing about & the dish delivers. I never expect anything less from a vinderloo & the spice was excellent. The only draw back was the level of flavour, I personally love a sweet dry rich spice. We got the spice & dry, not so much sweet again unfortunately. Still a solid curry👍 We also ordered: poppadoms, rice, chips, & we had a chutney tray. Just glasses of water. Nothing out of the ordinary really with any of it, we noticed the nann bread was a little flat & thin we like our big and puffed up🤷‍♀️ As we were finishing our mains the restaurant was quickly filling up. It’s right on the high street it’s a bit of a nightmare to park & its unlicensed so you bring you own booze. Over all a nice little restaurant, I’d go back if I was visiting. Thanks AKHI! Excellent food and service as always!! We always visit Mela Spice whilst on holiday in Bowness and I can't recommend it enough, our favourite Indian restaurant by far!

Excellent Indian food at a very reasonable price. Lovely welcome and service from AJ. Apparently these are new owners and the name of the restaurant is to be changed to the Blue Elephant. Highly reccomended

From the moment we walked in we were made very welcome. For a thursday night there was a good number of people already eating. Didnt have to wait too long for food to start turning up. Place was very clean and food was immaculate. We will certainly be returning next time we are in The Lakes. Cant recommend this place enough
