The best restaurants serving Indian food in South Lakeland North West

We came here last year when we were staying nearby and it was amazing then and again this March. The staff were fantastic, food awesome. One of the best Indian meals we have had. Thanks again.

We were very warmy greeted. All the staff seemd very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We opted for the set meal for two and every course was freshly cooked and served piping hot. Very tasty meal which we thoroughly enjoyed and would cetainly return again.

Visited with 5 mates for an evening meal. None of us had ever eaten at Barua before but had heard good things. Wow, we were not disappointed!!!! Firstly, the staff here made our night what it was before we'd even ordered our food. The lass who looked after our table was brilliant. So helpful and really good at her job. Sorry, I've forgotten her name. The food was next level. We asked the manager Kal to recommend a selection of food for our table, and he nailed it. We all absolutely loved it. Thanks to everyone, we will be back. So different to anything else on offer in the area. Xx

After reading such great reviews on Tripadvisor we took ourselves for a meal here. My husband had butter chicken curry which had about 5 small pieces of chicken and a very watery butter sauce. My biriyani was warm and a bit bland. We couldn’t chew the chapati so left it. A pricey and very very disappointing visit . A coke and water…and the bill was still over £63. Waiter was nice.

Tasty food, and fast delivery. Ordered on Saturday night. Delivery came within an hour. Reasonably priced for the Area.

I’ve known Tony for many years, Good kind hearted straight up Man, The quality of food has always been on point, i’ve read the reviews am astonished with some, it can only be from competition, or sad deluded people, genuinely been going their for 25 plus years, the lads their are great food has always been good!! I suggest you try it for your self💯

I wish I had read the reviews before going to this restaurant to ruin my staycation. Arrived here to be seated at the coldest room with 2 kids. Wait staff moaned about getting the high chairs as they had to get it from store to clean it. The rice had hair in it and then we were over charged, the list goes on! when we went to ask the staff about the bill they were ready to take on a fight and started shouting telling us to leave. Absolutely rude behaviour totally uncalled for. Save your money and go across the road to Mumbai 😣

Couldn't fault the food at all, very very good.

My son took me here to celebrate my 67th Birthday whilst staying in the Lake District. The food was excellent 👌. Best onion bahjas I have ever eaten, the chicken dupiza was so full of flavour and they certainly know how to cook a paratha. The service was swift and the staff courteous. I will definitely return when I'm next in the Lake District.

Really good authentic Indian food. Lovely little restaurant and really good quality for the price you pay. We arrived early for our booking but a table of walk ins arrived and we were asked to leave promptly after finishing our meal which was fine it was done in a nice way.

We go here every year when we visit the lakes, we must have eaten there at least 6 or 7 times & food always consistent & of a high standard. Delicious Indian food, would highly recommend.

Been going for 17 years. Realised Danny had sold the place. Will never go again! Bad service very long wait rude staff awful food. Over an hour wait for just a curry.Now enjoying Danny and family and staff at Askam.........

From the moment we walked in we were made very welcome. For a thursday night there was a good number of people already eating. Didnt have to wait too long for food to start turning up. Place was very clean and food was immaculate. We will certainly be returning next time we are in The Lakes. Cant recommend this place enough

We have bought food there twice. The guys are kind and serve generous portions. Really friendly, and I would go back again and again. Thanks for being authentic 🤗
