The dishes at this takeaway are comparably priced to Kendal's leading Indian Takeaway but the quality is nothing like as good as their food; and it comes to you cold! I thought I would give this place a try last December so I went in and bought a Lamb Jalfrezi, a portion of Pilau Rice, two Onion Bhaji's and a garlic & Coriander Naan as they had no other Naans by this point. The Lamb Jalfrezi tasted good and authentic, but when added to the rice, I finished up with a lot of watery liquid with my meal which was disappointing. The Onion Bhaji's were overpriced for the size of them ( 3 inch flat patties) and were very oily! The Naan bread, when heated in the oven completely dried out in the middle and was like a cracker biscuit - not good! I paid an amount comparable to that had I gone to The British Raj, except from there it would have all been top quality and freshly prepared which non of this food was (they make it all in a kitchen in Lancaster apparently) and hot; ready to eat. Support your local Indian Takeaway folks - that is what I will be continuing to do.

Just the best Indian food in Kendal, and exceptional value. Very positive, friendly staff too. Each curry had it’s own flavour, rather then just being variations on how much chilli the chef used.

First time at Eat India great concept thoroughly enjoyed a tarka dahl nan and some pakora very reasonable priced and much more substantial than the gregs vegan sausage roll.

Absolutely inedible. Only bought 2 mains and a pilau rice but the salt content made them inedible. First time we have been and lips still tingling from salt not spice. Seriously disappointed!

I am a regular curry eater and have visited Eat Indian on several occasions mainly for lunch snacks. This is because having tried the curry dinners, unfortunately they are WAY too hot for me! This is really disappointing to me as I love the shop with the variety and freshness of the curries. I am vegetarian and so happy to see all the varieties of veggie curries, but so sad that all of them set my mouth on fire! I will keep mentioning this to the staff in the hope that they can make at least one mild veggie curry (they do have a couple of mild chicken curries). Meanwhile, I'll continue with just the somosas, bhajis, pakoras etc, all of which are excellent.

Great selection of well pepared Indian food for you to heat and eat at home. Main courses at £7.95 are enough for 2 and you can add pakoras, bhajis as well as smaller vegetable dishes (£5.95) and various breads. Better quality than most traditional eat-in or takeaway Indian restaurants. As a model I'm surprised this isn't imitated more with diferent types of cuisine like the French 'traiteur'. Really enjoyed our meal and this is a great addition to the food offer in Kendal. (We need much more!)

I suspect there was an accident while cooking, as the Lamb Rogan Josh I had - a dish friends have described as really good from here - while full of meat, and full of flavour, and nicely spicy, was also far, far too salty. I tend to add salt to most dishes, this time I needed to drink water with it. Disappointing. Edit: My stomach decided it was still too salty, so it exited the way it went in. I feel a bit better now. Vomiting after too much salt is a first for me. A note for "Eat Indian": You need to address this issue, it would've been excellent without the excess salt. Other reviews on Google Maps suggest similar intermittent issues with too much salt, I guess the business does not read their reviews as they so not seem to have responded to previous reports of too much salt.

OMG. Fabulous, home cooked food which looked and tasted amazing. Staff were friendly. Highlight was the pakora naan bread which we’ve never seen or had before. Top of the pops. Cant wait to return.

I am not a fan of Indian food but went along with the family, restaurant was dead clean and all food was fresh and freshly produced. Price and service were first class.

Had the most amazing ‘nanwich’ for lunch. Bit of a wait as it’s freshly made but completely worth the wait. Really tasty and filling. The nan was full of meat and an absolute bargain. Would definitely return.

Food and Service very good. If anything needs changing it is a tweak in the decor as it is very stark due to the cold green wall lighting which could be easily sorted with a different bulb to create a warmer feel but other than that it is a nice restaurant. No complaints.

We had the worst dinner at the Eastern Balti, not just the worst Indian food. Everything our group of 4 ordered was dry, overcooked and flavourless. Lamb/meat? and chicken cubes, and chicken tandoori leg kebabs were chewy, sinewy and tasteless, chicken tough and no flavour. Lots of gravy on two of our orders which were not Indian in the least. Manager stated their food was to the taste of Michelin-star chefs who were regular weekly customers, but spectacularly failed to deliver. One to avoid!

I wasn’t expecting much from an Indian restaurant in the heart of the Lakes, but was very pleasantly surprised. We were there on a Sunday night and they weren’t very busy. The decor is a bit tired inside but don’t let that put you off. The food was piping hot, freshly cooked and tasty. It’s cash only and take your own booze. I would definitely go again next time we’re staying in Coniston.
