We ordered a takeaway on a bank holiday weekend evening. It took 45 mins to be able to collect but it was well worth the wait. I had the special bhuna with fried rice and a garlic naan. The bhuna had lots of flavour. The chicken was very tender and the lamb was tasty also. Only one prawn!!!! In the whole dish which was disappointing. The rice was very nice and well seasoned. The naan tasted nice but not a lot of garlic on it which is a shame. They gave us free poppadoms for the extra wait and the service was excellent. Will definitely go again and would recommend. If eating in though I would book ahead as it isn't the biggest place and gets busy.

I had come to Lake District on holiday with my family and since we arrived late we decided to order a takeaway from this Indian restaurant. I called them to ask if they could cater to my daughter's allergies and non spicy food for my 6 year old nephew and 80 years old Mother in law. The owner on the phone was very unhelpful. Rather than assisting me with my query, he told me that he was busy with other customers and I should read the menu myself or come in. As it was too late I decided to just go there with my family anyway to just get them some food. As soon as I reached there he said he can't accommodate us and we could only take a takeaway and was being very rude. So we decided that we dint want to get anything from him and then he started asking us to go somewhere else if we wanted and asked me to get out. Absolutely no manners and respect for women and family with elderly person and children. I would definitely not recommend anyone who is looking to have a good time to go this place. Full of negative energy

Service was terrible. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel like they didn’t want any customers. Whilst waiting for someone to take our drinks order, someone phoned up and wanted a refund. This was openly discussed in front of other diners. Eventually our order was taken. A single man who was known to the staff was served his food before us, despite arriving much later than we did. There was also a man enjoying himself upstairs in the male toilets with the door wide open. Facilities were dirty. Avoid this place,

We ordered a take away approx 4 weeks ago after a recommendation and found it to be very good, great flavour and rich and creamy. we then ordered one last night, 17th Feb and were so disappointed with what we received. The chicken korma was so watery, no flavour at all, the chicken was like cardboard, the plain naan was so cold and had become an unpleasant item, I also ordered balti shashlik and was extremely disappointed in that course to, more onion than chicken, plus cardboard and flavourless. We spent £26.00 and you expect food of a high standard. My wife will now never use them again, such a shame.

Got a takeaway had to wait 2 hours for a start after being told 1 hour. Food came and was shocking. Chicken tikka masala was literally like watery tomato soup and how they can call the Passanda that is beyond me. Definitely just food colouring and additives involved rather than authentic food. Was completely inedible. Even the garlic nan was dry. The only nice thing of the meal was the poppadoms. So disappointed. Had to bin it.

We went to Jheel thinking it was the same Indian restaurant we went to 13 years ago. Happy to find it was still there we looked forward to a delicious dinner. The restaurant changed hands about two years ago and WOW - the worst Indian food we've ever had. The left over Tandoori chicken used in our Chicken Tiki Marsala dish was not the worst of it---the taste of the tiki marsala sauce didn't resemble Indian food (and we've had a LOT at many restaurants over many years) at all! The sauce had no taste at all except for a lingering sweet after taste. The coconut rice was horrible - it had a weird granular mixture of something that was so sweet and distasteful we asked for "plain" rice. it was ok. The garlic nan was awful. Nothing to say about it but awful. Basic grocery store bought nan is far far better than what was served. The customer service was fine but could hardly make up for the worst dinner (Indian or otherwise) we've had at a restaurant. I'm sorry to write such a harsh review but it's not right to serve and charge money for such poorly made/cooked food. Don't waste your money.

We visited Jheel lastnight as three friends, whilst on an overnight stay in Kendal. We hadn’t pre-booked a table, as we had planned to simply take a stroll into the town centre and find a place for a meal based on what we stumbled upon… and we are so so happy that we found Jheel! Despite not booking, we were immediately seated - the restaurant itself is quite small and seemed busy for a Sunday evening, but fortunately there was a table available for 3. The restaurant itself we found to be extremely clean and within a comfortable, cosy setting. The decor was authentic and modern. The customer service was excellent and delivered with a smile! The staff were very attentive and welcoming. The two staff members who served us were friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble for them. We found the table service to be quick and prompt also. The meals were absolutely delicious! Served hot, fresh and tasty. We found the menu had a great selection of choice of Indian cuisine and all reasonably priced. The drinks menu also had a good variety - we like White Zinfandel Rosé and was pleased to find this available on there, as not all places sell this particular wine. Overall, a wonderful little place for an Indian meal. We will definitely be back to visit in the near future on our next trip to Kendal. Would highly recommended. Thank you Jheel for helping us to have a lovely evening away!

I wasn’t expecting much from an Indian restaurant in the heart of the Lakes, but was very pleasantly surprised. We were there on a Sunday night and they weren’t very busy. The decor is a bit tired inside but don’t let that put you off. The food was piping hot, freshly cooked and tasty. It’s cash only and take your own booze. I would definitely go again next time we’re staying in Coniston.

The dishes at this takeaway are comparably priced to Kendal's leading Indian Takeaway but the quality is nothing like as good as their food; and it comes to you cold! I thought I would give this place a try last December so I went in and bought a Lamb Jalfrezi, a portion of Pilau Rice, two Onion Bhaji's and a garlic & Coriander Naan as they had no other Naans by this point. The Lamb Jalfrezi tasted good and authentic, but when added to the rice, I finished up with a lot of watery liquid with my meal which was disappointing. The Onion Bhaji's were overpriced for the size of them ( 3 inch flat patties) and were very oily! The Naan bread, when heated in the oven completely dried out in the middle and was like a cracker biscuit - not good! I paid an amount comparable to that had I gone to The British Raj, except from there it would have all been top quality and freshly prepared which non of this food was (they make it all in a kitchen in Lancaster apparently) and hot; ready to eat. Support your local Indian Takeaway folks - that is what I will be continuing to do.
