Masala Grill was recommended by friends so visited for dinner with my partner, but really wish we hadn't. The service was awful - the waiter just pointed at a table, laid the cutlery & handed us menus without even saying a word. The food was just really disppointing. The mushroom rice was crunchy, as if it had been cooked earlier & left out. The sag aloo was completely without flavour and really dry. Chicken dhansak is my favorite curry, but this one was overly spicy & lacking the lentil texture & taste you'd expect. My partner"s masala was fine, but his keema nan was soggy and undercooked, while my garlic nan was burnt. The bill was brought up with no hot towels but with after eights where the dark chocolate had turned white.

Guess it was a victim of the pandemic, but in any case Cafe Le Raj is permanently closed. Plenty more Injuns in Upminster but this was definitely one of ,if not the, favourite.

There was 4 of us and we all had different meals and they were all great. Zuber was our waiter and made our visit special and nothing was too much trouble

Not an Indian at all but bland Bangladeshi food. There is a huge difference between the two. However, to the untrained it makes no difference. Bhajiyas should never be called Bhaji. If you like Bengali cousins then it’s ok, but for someone who’s lived in India I know. The biriyani was the most terrible thing I’ve eaten, no flavour whatever, not even a hint of mild spices. I like mild spiciness. Waiter argued that it was right. Their Lamb kadhai was full of large pieces of onions and peppers, again no flavour. It should have a thick sauce. I feel sorry for locals who think this is Indian. They were clearly enjoying it. Even Pakistani food is way above this. Try Tayabs (Pakistani) or Hitchki (Indian) in Whitechapel, but not Bricklane.
