Not an Indian at all but bland Bangladeshi food. There is a huge difference between the two. However, to the untrained it makes no difference. Bhajiyas should never be called Bhaji. If you like Bengali cousins then it’s ok, but for someone who’s lived in India I know. The biriyani was the most terrible thing I’ve eaten, no flavour whatever, not even a hint of mild spices. I like mild spiciness. Waiter argued that it was right. Their Lamb kadhai was full of large pieces of onions and peppers, again no flavour. It should have a thick sauce. I feel sorry for locals who think this is Indian. They were clearly enjoying it. Even Pakistani food is way above this. Try Tayabs (Pakistani) or Hitchki (Indian) in Whitechapel, but not Bricklane.

Lamb biriyani was atrocious, chef needs to learn Indian or Pakistani biriyani, such a big difference. There was no flavour, bland with no taste of any spice. There needs to be at least a tiny bit of heat, but the waiter argued that it mustn’t, you don’t know. I don’t have a hot palate and review biriyanis. The lamb kadhai was overflowing with large chunks of onions and peppers instead of a thick gravy. I feel sorry for those unsuspecting locals. Never again.

Great food very friendly staff good service

The waiter refused to serve as if we don’t order food but drinks. He said it’s a “law” if we come to a restaurant we should (!) order food. The most insane thing I ever heard

Been using this place for several months without many issues (apart from encountering some very rowdy 'customers' which caused us to start coming through the week when it was quieter). When I booked I requested one of the big round tables for the four of us if there were no parties of six they needed to accommodate. On arrival we were led to a cramped table for four - one of the round tables appeared to be available and the other had two people sitting at it who appeared to be just having a drink. My friend took exception to this and asked why we couldn't have the big table. After they mumbled amongst themselves they let us have the round table, why not just do that in the first place? Food was ok as usual but the servers attitude on this particular evening stank! Plates, cutlery and food was more or less just slung at us and the servers hardly spoke, they came across as very ignorant and quite rude. They also appeared to be rushing us, we reasoned they were after an early shoot. So not a pleasant experience on this occasion, we'll have to seriously consider whether we'll return or find somewhere else for our curry nights.

Great food...Great service...If a little expensive...!

Took a visit to this splendid place and it was much better than I thought. Waiters were very welcoming and made you have a comfortable visit. Food came really quick and on top of that the food was absolutely beautifully made and tasted as good as it looks. I had the most relaxing visit and it was just an amazing experience my family had. Would definitely recommend coming here it was wonderful.

I ordered 2 garlic and 2 plain naan and when I was to eat them I saw that they were burnt and when I ask the manager about this he started to argue and shout at me when they are in the wrong not me. This is very bad customers service that they have and the manager even threatened me as well. This is a disgrace and I urge everyone not to go there any more.

Went for dinner with friends mid week. The restaurant has a good atmosphere, and the service was very good. The food we had was great quality and taste. There are some great variations on the usual dishes, along with some unique ones I haven't seen before.

They do not specify allergens on menu. We had rung to see if nut present in a dish and was told no (I did not get staff members name). Reacted to dish they later tell me almond powder is used. Found on google Do menus have to list allergens? In short: you must make sure that the 14 regulated food allergens are declared, that your staff are trained about allergens and you manage allergens properly. Absolutely terrible service. Asked a few times if required drinks but waited over 90 minutes for main course. No real apology & no effort made to refund any of the bill. Worst Indian restaurant in Upminster!

Might have been what we chose but there was not anything that we had where there was any spicy heat in the dish. Reasonable flavours but all rather bland, a bit like "going for an English". Beer was good and staff were nice but I wouldn't rush back again.

Worst indian I've ever had. Biriyani and vegetable rice were incredibly flavourless. And don't fall for the scam of the "free" popadoms in which they try to push on you the sauces that you'll be charged for without telling you. Will never be coming back again

We booked a table for 20 people for my niece’s 30th birthday. Had a very friendly greeting on arrival and was sat on 2 tables of 10 next to each other. The starters were lovely and very well presented instead of just dolloped on your plate. The portion size of the mains were generous with large pieces of chicken, I had the chicken tikka pathia. Was delicious with tender chicken, not overcooked and tough. My tip is to share a rice as that too was quite large for one person. Found the prices very reasonable too, popadoms, starters, main, rice, naan and some sharer sides with drinks came to about £35 per person. Will definitely be returning and a special thanks and mention to Anor for his fantastic customer services and patience!

I have coeliac disease so I asked the waiter if the poppadoms were gluten free. He looked a bit puzzled but said 'yes' I said are you 100% sure and his answer was 'try it and see how you get on!!!!! 😱 I asked him to check with the chef and he literally ran back and said ' NO, don't eat them. Seriously?? Surely waiters should know about allergies and if not check with the chef first to make sure! I have noticed that many Indian and Chinese restaurants and takeaways do not have any allergy information available, I thought this was made 'Law' a couple of years ago! 🤔

Haven't been to an Indian restaurant in England for about 7yrs (living overseas). Just found out what I'd been missing. Every dish we had was full of flavour and spiced just as we wanted. Loved it.

Ginger lounge its one of our fav places in Upminster. We going there usually twice per month. Lets start from the food - its a really good and big portions, desert its an next level you must to try pineapple ice cream and coconut ice cream they are the best. Atmosphere its always nice in there you never gonna see drunk peoples also interior its simple but cozy. Service its 10:10 staff are really friendly they are remember customer names and what they like, they treat customers in the most professional way. Staff member name - Anor its a SUPER STAR !

Sadly very poor. First impressions are great, very welcoming, very friendly. Then you sit down and realise you've gone tone deaf from the music blasting out. It must have been loud because the waiter took our drinks order and clearly couldn't shout it across to the bar staff so we finished our dinner with nothing and went to the shop nextdoor. The food was so bland we literally couldn't taste anything. We did find it strange that the couple we sat next to had small children that were tucking into everything, no problem. Either they're used to the Indian spice of a Madras at age 5 or the food was bland. We wasn't being nosy or anything but the tables are that close together we literally felt like part of the family.. The bill was the most extortionate we've ever paid for an Indian with 2 people coming up £80 and they even charge you for the complementary poppadoms and dips!! Likely because they think Upminster is still a high profile area however, the rude-boys wearing their trousers under their arses all loitering out the front would all disagree. Gets 1 star for friendly front of house staff and another for the food being hot. Not spicy. Just hot. Believe me, I've done reviews for a while, save your money and give this a miss.

If you are interested or curious about tasting the most horrendous Indian food, this place is a must visit. The food quality is so low that even Delhi belly won't touch you. Even my dust bin rejected the leftovers which by the way will be a lot.

Our go to takeaway now. Food is always freshly prepared and hot. Good portions and value.

Such a shame the food was bland, didn’t hit the mark. The chapatti was not cooked enough, & the curry was bland & not spiced to my request. Still on the hunt for a decent curry then elsewhere I guess. Shame because the guy who served me was really nice.

Always heard mixed reviews about the restaurant. However my friend arranged for 16 of us to meet up for a ruby there. Booked it 6 weeks prior to the night and handed over £150 deposit. I hadn't seen some of my friends for over a year so was really excited about the night. However Upon arrival we was told our table had been cancelled! Their explanation that someone had rung 2 nights prior at 10.30pm sounding drunk and cancelled the reservation. This all sounded very fishy to me and I asked the question why didn't anybody from the restaurant think to call my friend who had booked the restaurant in the first place , payed the deposit and left his details? No reasonable explanation was given and in the end we were told sorry but unfortunately there is not enough space in the restaurant and shown the door and 16 of us left out in the pouring rain with no where to go. Some of us having traveled over an hour away toake the evening. Needless to say I shall not be returning or recommending this restaurant. Very unprofessional

Had a reservation for 16 yesterday at 7pm. £160 Deposit paid as requested called in advance to confirm the booking was okay and advised it was all okay. Upon arrival just before 7pm was told that they had cancelled our reservation without notifying us. What a disgraceful way to treat people . The attitude of management was disgusting. No offer of explanation just a straight no. I can see no reason why they decided we were not welcome bar some form of bigoted prejudice. What a dreadful experience

Great food with excellent midweek deals.

Food : Meat and prawns was cooked well. Didn't expect to be charged seperately for papadoms and the sauce tray! A sauce tray is almost always complimentary in an Indian restaurant. I would not order the 'Biriyani'. It lacked flavor and doesn't qualify for a Biriyani. Atmosphere was good. Perhaps some lighting above the table would be good. Some corners are a little dark. Drinks selection is good.

I have never had such bland Indian food. No salt or spice and when I mentioned the food was bland to the waiter, they immediately switched from being nice to wanting to get us out of the restaurant. The garlic naan bread did not taste like garlic. Honestly shocked that food could be this bland.

Worst experience I have ever had! Dined with friends this evening. Food was terrible especially the Madras, meat was rubbery and when I mentioned I was shouted upon rudely and told I should pay still??? No I will not pay for a dish I hadn’t eaten that didn’t taste right?? Mr “Rumel” so called waiter, should not be working in such an establishment. He’s a disgrace, and utterly rude to customers. He even shouted at my friend and spoken in an unkind fashion. Who does he think he is?? You had no right to speak to me in such a rude manner. Do not dine at Ginger Lounge!!!

Great place to go ,best curry in upminster, management and staff are very attentive, brilliant atmosphere.

Have been here many times before but this time it was extremely loud to the point we couldn't hear eachother talking. The waiter was very abrupt and wanted us to order our drinks quickly then didn't come back for ages to take our order. We were seated in a squashed space when we asked to sit somewhere else the waiter said no turns out that the waiters friends were coming in to sit there and once they did they moved the partition so we were even more squashed. When the bill came they had tried to charge us for items that were included in the set menu we had ordered. Such a shame as we had gone to celebrate our birthdays.

Here I always have my usual bhajis and then mushroom rice with a mild korma and some spicy prawns . Love the beers here .Chilled on draught, can’t go wrong .and all of us enjoyed a great night post footie. This place is way off the standards of Indian establishments in london in particular , with the style and presentation of the food as well as the variety .Cannot stand a chance with the real Indian places , but they make up for it with friendly welcome & service . Five of us ate and drank nicely for around 100£ .

Saw the rave reviews and booked dinner with friends, a disappointing experience. The starters, ordered chilli paneer bites and got stuffed jalapeño peppers with cream filling! Challenged saying that the description was misleading,but got " that's how we serve them"🤦‍♂️. The main course was mediocre and I have never seen tarka daal with a lemon wedge in it! Credit to the naans, they were excellent. Overall, will not be going there again.

This is a very friendly place. The staff are excellent and food 8s well prepared as well as presented. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Once again a fantastic meal along with fantastic service. When I booked over the phone I mentioned it was for our anniversary and on arrival we were shown to our table which had been decorated with a happy anniversary banner and some table decorations which was totally unexpected. The quality of food was exceptional as is the norm at this restaurant with both my wife and I choosing to go for some new dishes from their signature menu. The wife having salmon with me opting for the Lahori chicken, both as I have said excellent. food is only part of the experience and what makes this an exceptional restaurant is the service and attention to detail that you receive from the staff, the owner should be very proud of his team. If you want an Indian meal that is a cut above the rest then I highly recommend this restaurant

Came here for a family get together for 8 of us. 1st visit here for most of us. Lovely decor as we walked through to our table. Friendly staff, I had the Ginger Special which was chicken breast stuff with mincemeat...v nice. Everyone said their food was v tasty. Worked out appx £35.00 PP with drinks. Not too bad. Will definitely be back.

First time back in 5 years. Service wasn't as good as before with guy leaning right across me with his arm touching my face whilst eating. Blinds missing, clairs broken, Both lemonades were flat, mouldy plants in loo and the bill had £30 for x3 lime cordials. It's not somewhere I'll be going back to, shame.

What a great day out with family. Amazing food, drinks & dessert...amazing first class service too. Love this place!! Amazing dinner staff are really accommodating and really enjoyable evening all together. Highly recommend to my friends and family.

Really lovely meal but just feel they are getting slightly over priced with somethings. Charging £1 per person for chutneys and £1.10 a poppadum is abit if a joke. We was also a birthday party and asked for a dessert with a candle. It was basically a champagne glass with ice cream and some caramel sauce and was £4.50. It’s only small but throwing in a free dessert and chutneys when your spending a few hundred quid makes a difference to people and I found it a bit off putting and wouldn’t be rushing back. Plenty of other places in Upminster where you are looked after better.

Maybe you are never going to get the best experience on a very busy Saturday night, as was the case this visit. Chicken tikka Dhansak was somewhat thin and lacking sourness.

First time I came hear I gave ginger lounge 5 stars Second time was ask to move tables as regular wanted that table . Then the last time I went to come here I walked in and ask are you open wich I got a no we closed So I ask at what time will you be open and the reply I got was late . 🙈

Myself & 3 others went for a meal here last night ( Saturday) pre booked. The place was busy as you’d expect for a Saturday. We ordered drinks, one being a bottle of Prosecco, the waiter bought over one glass of Prosecco! The second waiter informed us they do pink Prosecco which was a hit with us. We ordered our food, when the plates arrived they were cold, the food arrived this was just warm & the dishes they were in, these too were cold. A shame as I would have enjoyed the food more had it been hotter. Service was friendly by all waiters. And a drink on the house was a nice touch at the end of our meal.
