Edit. Will keep the old review up for posterity. But after a going back to Delhi Live I am pleased to report it is back to the standards I knew and enjoyed so much when it first opened almost 10 years ago. The biryani and vindaloo I've tried so far are delicious packed full of flavour. Appears to be made from fresh chicken again. Some new street food type items on the menu which look intriguing. Looking forward to trying more. Edit: Apparently under new management again. May update or delete this review in due course. Sadly recent experiences have forced me to update this review which is for takeaway only. Standards seem to have taken a dip in quality over the last 12 months, with fewer fresh or as many ingredients as before. Delivery times unless ordering from uber eats are long and often delayed at peak times. It seems corners are being cut in the kitchen in the expectation no one will notice.

Went here after new management took over -The food and service is top quality, all the starters and mains we ordered were delicious. Highly recommend coming here, the new owners are so friendly and welcoming!

Visited for dinner. Food was delicious, the hara bhara kebabs in particular were a standout. Service was great, with amicable staff and the food being brought out quickly. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

We visited a group of 14 after watching dog races at Coral Stadium Romford. We were treated very warmly. We ordered Papri chat, Paneer Tikka, Hariyali chicken as starters and all were excellent ( except Hariyali chicken which restaurant humbly did charge us ) in mains we ordered Dal Makhni, butter chicken, Soya chap and chicken dum biryani and all were really tasty. Place is really nice. Though toilet seat in one of the toilet was broken. Highly recommended. For 14 people our bill was just 200£ including drinks which is lowest ever paid for such a group.

Came for the brunch, under new management and the food was delicious. Had the onion tandoori parantha and it was very flavoursome. The owners were extremely welcoming and friendly and would definitely recommend to friends and family and come again, next time for the dinner experience! A really lovely touch was when the manager asked if we wanted second helpings of the accompaniments. Thank you Delhi Live and see you again very soon 👌👌👌

Been eating here on and off since it opened back in 2016, the food has always been outstanding but the service has been a bit erratic, it has now under new ownership and I am happy to say the food is still the best you will find this side of London, and the new owners seem to have the knowledge of running a good restaurant with the service much improved, will be eating here a lot more regular than have been

I recently went here with my friends for the first time, and the food was way above our expectations. We have been to various famous Indian restaurants in London, and I wouldn't exaggerate if I said it was by far the best.! The authentic desi flavour of the food took us back to India.! The owner said they had recently taken over the restaurant, so I don't know how the food was before, but at present, it is a MUST TRY! 100% RECOMMENDED! I wish them all the success ahead.! ✨

I went along to Delhi Live in Romford last week and was amazed by the quality of food I received, I often do food tasting for national conferences and the food at Delhi Live is authentic and fresh. I met with new management and was given outstanding service. Great friendly atmosphere with lots of choices of food. I am a vegetarian and they have very good list of choices. I highly recommend the Black Dal and the Paneer Tika. Look forward to eating there again and hopefully getting them to cater for a birthday function.

We have booked a table of 4 people and had dinner. It was delicious taste with friendly staff.

We went to Delhi live knowing that the management had changed recently.We ordered veg starters and veg main meal and we really enjoyed it .We could tell the difference from previous visits that a great deal of input has gone into improving the quality of the meal.We will certainly be coming frequently!

Got a takeaway, To be honest, wasn't bad but wasn't great either. A little salty, flavour wise it's okay but nothing to write home about, have had better North Indian/ Punjabi food. If I was passing by I may give it another go. For North Indian/ Punjabi food I recommend Tandoori Lounge on Hornchurch High Street. It's pretty good.

Not the most done up in terms of decor. But, food was superb and the staff were spot on. I'm not from Romford but I would go all the time if I was.

Excellent service and tasty food

Service is really good. They hosted a party of 30 and they were super attentive. The harra bharra kebabs were really good and the paneer makhanwala. So much better than I thought it would be. If you are going for ambiance - don’t. Aesthetically not great but food was pretty good!

Organised a Diwali party for 40 people including kids at Delhi Live. Excellent service with great food. The hosts are very hospitable.

Great place for Indian food. Had the Madras, Sag Aloo, Bombay Potatoes, and chicken Vindaloo. The flavours were fantastic, albeit on the salty side. All dishes had a lot more sauce/gravy than expected, so they were quite filling. Had some paratha as well, which were also delicious; crispy on the top, and the right amount of doughy-ness on the inside. They offered a portion of rice to go with everything at no extra cost. Overall, the food was good, and the flavours were wonderful, although I doubt whether they were 100% authentic Indian.

Vegetarian FOOD which we had was great which drives the 5* . Had to call people every time you need to order Decor can be improved.

Biryani without gravy is not a biryani, not mentioned that I need to choose which one I got surprised, taste not so good not recommend

I placed an order for collection this evening, was informed to collect 20 mins later. I arrived 30 mins later and my food was not ready. After waiting 20 mins in the restaurant, I was told my order was ready, however it was then discovered that my order was given to a Deliveroo driver. The Manager spent 15 mins looking for the food, which clearly was not in the restaurant. I had already paid by card, and at this point wanted a refund. The Manager, after aimlessly wandering around for 10 mins, informed me that he did not have authority to process a refund via the card machine and offered me cash. This goes against the Consumer Rights Act, as I should be refunded via the method of original payment. Very clearly there are issues with the legitimate running of this business. There was no courtesy or real acknowledgement of the lack of service. I am very disappointed with this situation and no goodwill or compensation for the lengthy waste of time or bad customer service was offered.

Called in on Thursday night after going for drinks in the town with an old friend. The place was empty and we were the only customers which is always a worry. Service was slow considering we were the only customers only one member of staff in restaurant. Food was fine and a good selection on offer at a fair price.

I am a North Indian and tell that This is the ONLY AUTHENTIC INDIAN food I have ever Tasted in UK.... I can bet on its taste and credibility. Never disappoints you. Best veg, non veg or even fusion drinks. Highly recommend this place...

Terrible experience in the restaurant for sit down meal. Only 1 member of staff taking orders and serving drinks. Waited nearly an hour no sign of any food. Awful service ! Kitchen seemed too busy getting delivery orders ready. Walked out as a complete shambles and no way to treat customers

Ordered gobi 65 - it was cold and soggy it was terrible - how do you serve people that food? Paneer pakora was old taste. The faluda just didn’t taste right - I’ll soon find out if am ok and my kids. Seriously don’t bother eating from this place Shut down!

Authentic Indian dishes (not just the run of the mill dishes for the Western palate.)

Ow guys, This is a 100% honest one. I would rate this place as most authentic taste of Indian food in Delhi. Have been to places nearby but trust me they are fake. This is a real time Delhi taste in your plate. Would definitely recommend that you try Delhi mix paratha, sarson ja saag and chaats... 4.8 on 5

I oredered 5 dishes and 3 sides (rice etc.) and collected these in the evening. On getting back home and eating the curries, we found them all excessively salty - enough to be inedible and had to, most regretfully, throw the curries away. The side dishes were pretty useless without the main dishes. We had to do with other quick meals for dinner that evening. I called up Delhi Live and the gentleman was very sorry and offered to prepare the order again and deliver the meals in 1 hour 10 minutes.. It was already ather late and we had eaten for the night. We agreed that I would call him the next day and ask for the ordered to be delivered. The next day, I called and spoke to the same man - initially after agreeing to deliver the salty dishes, he came back and told me that the owner had refused and would give only 25% discount. I refused this contemptuous offer and left it at that. I have ordered several times from Delhi Live and while the curries have never been consistently good, I have never complained. But this was too much. I will NEVER order from the again. Very poor level of service.

Used to serve very good Indian food, but recently taste and standards have come down. Not the worst food but not good either in recent times.

After a failed delivery from a local restaurant who's chef had recently won an award (they clearly took on more than they could handle) someone told me that if I want authentic Indian food, to order from Delhi Live. So I did, a takeaway and they were not wrong. The food was delicious. I've had two further orders, one with a friend and they were also impressed. The food is fantastic, authentic and full of flavour and I've tried a lot of Indian restaurants in Romford and Hornchurch. I've truly found my favourite and it was recommended by an Indian person so I'm truly grateful for the find. Keep up the good work Delhi. Claire x

We have used Delhi Live numerous times for events and dine-in at restaurant. The food quality is always top notch. Best Indian restaurant in East London and Essex area. It is priced reasonably too.

I ordered food on 9:28 and I get my food on 9:55 and they also give free poppadoms and sauce's. I love there food taste, quantity is good and the delivery service is super fast.

Best Indian food restaurant in Romford area, quantity and taste of food is awesome. I visited there on Monday, Thursday and Saturday and food is very good on all days and service is super fast in Monday and Thursday but on Saturday restaurant was full and due to that a bit slower service but food is awesome.

Ignoring the online reviews and going by a friends recommendation was a terrible idea… ordered at 7:30, expected delivery around 8:30. After two calls, the food finally arrived at 9:20. Most of the meat was dry and overcooked, hariyali chicken was covered in glowing food colouring with a tiny sprinkling of fresh herbs on top, seekh kebab was gristle-y, papdi chat and samosa chat were soggy and poorly balanced. Milkshake had completely melted and had a weird aftertaste. Butter chicken was not butter chicken. The only thing I’d eat from there again was the naan and the tiny pot of chilli sauce.

In my opinion, I would most definitely not recommend this restaurant to anybody. Poor customer service overall: 1: No water was provided despite that being a simple starting service, we had to ask upfront in order for a jug of water to be given. 2: We placed our order at approximately 19:45 and our starters itself arrived at our table almost an hour later only because we inquired as to where it was. 3: A large family arrived at the restaurant after us and ordered their starters which was provided in a mere 10 minutes whereas ours took much longer. All in all, would not recommend. 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

Pathetic service, poor customer service and really bad attitude of people working here. They were extremely busy in accommodating their online order. We waited for 1 hr and 30 minutes just to get starter. We were not been serve glass of water. When we inquire how long food will take, they rudely answer and told it will take time. Never ever visit the place again. Spoiled the dinner and weekend.

Such a waste of money.... food was disgusting ..lamb had such bad smell of used oil.30 minutes in delay. Asked to avoid the vermicelli in the falooda, but it was full of vermicelli and there is no ice cream, no nuts. i regret to placed the order from there, Dont ever order again. We visited delhi live oct 2021 and had an extremely poor experience , we received the wrong food and as vegetarians to receive a meat dish is unforgivable. we will not be going here again.

Its really sad to Share this review. We have been a loyal & regular customer here and hosted parties, girls evening & family meals regulary at Delhi live over the past number of years. Since last year the quality of clealiness, food and service has gone down hill. Our latest experience was really nasty last night and we had to leave just after the starters were served. We were a party of 12 and orered vergerian starters first. the vegetarian starters smelled of meat so we asked if they were fried in the same oil (we could see discoloured oil on our food) we didnt get much of an answer. First we were told that they will waive the charges for that particular food which we said that was not the point and we were concered about our rest of Veg food order and how it is being made.When we insisted we were told sometimes chef can make mistake (no apology either). Initially when we started visiting we had enquired if the veg food is being prepared seprately and not in the same oil which used for frying which we were assured that they do. Which we gathered that not the case mostly as explained by the person managing the restaurant while the owner was not present. All the glasses provided had drink marks and couple had some milkshakes stuck to it which were returned and we didnt get replacement till we left (around 25 mins). Mine and few other forks actually had food stuck to it and other cutlery items were also quite dirty hence they took them all back too. This has been the case for last few visits and we are kind of fed up now that no measures has been taken to rectify this after been raised a few times in the past. Unfortunately, they have lost a geniune customer due to their low food preparation standards and dont care attitude now. We have tried to contact the restaurant to speak to the owner but has failed :(

Service has always been mixed depending on who was on the front desk but now it is now totally non existent. Food was initially okay (couple of years back) but for the last six months it's gone steadily downhill. Maybe the chef has changed but the food now just tastes like store bought paste with heaps of cream. This is as far from authentic Indian as it can be! So disappointed with the food and the bad attitude of the front desk staff.

Last week sunday, I placed my order at 6:45 pm and was told that the delivery will take 50 mins. I paid via card and waited. It was 8pm. I called the resturant again and spoke to Priya who apologised and said the manager wasnt in and they only had 1 delivery driver. When I called again I was told that my food was delivered at the wrong address. Third time I was told that the driver had just left with my order. My food arrived half 8.Food arrived was cold ! Very poor costumer service !

The last time we visited this restaurant 2 yrs ago, it used to be a decent restaurant but we will never forget our experience today. We ordered food for 3 families and to our surprise and disappointment, not one dish tasted any good. Absolute disaster. Lamb Biriyani(Gosht) was extremely salty that none of us could have more than a spoon. The lamb curry ( Ra Ra Gosht) was a lamb cooked in brine sauce. The Tak a tak was a moderate dish and the chicken curry was literally floating chicken in an orange sauce. To top it off the Falooda taught us how to chew raw semolina in a milky broth. But the staff service wasn’t great either. Either they didn’t want to hear us or they have got into the habit of listening to such feedbacks quite often. I can assure you that we shall never consider this restaurant unless this chef or management changes and we hear good reviews again.

Just aww, the flavour of individual dishes are just amazing. I love Indian food and like eating out with friends and family but this place has to be my one of the BEST! Talk about butter chicken cannot describe how amazing is it. Must try this place!!

I’m not an expert on Indian cuisine nor is it a cuisine I consume often, nonetheless this was a pleasant experience. The waiter was very friendly and always smiling. Lots of tasty vegetarian options too! If you are a vegetarian/vegan this is probably the best option for dinner in Romford!

I ordered Karahi Paneer....what was served were pieces of Paneer mixed with something which seemed to be a Curry Paste from brought from superstore shelves....disgusting!!!....the price is nearly double compared to other local restaurants....those who are a little health conscious should not try this restaurant....I wasted my money feeling the items were priced more so must be better than other restaurants...it was the worst I ever had...the butter Nan bread was of poor quality; leathery and inappropriately baked....not soft at all...unimaginable poor cooking...

Disappointing Kali mirch (black pepper) chicken. As you can see from the photo lacked black pepper and I'm sure there wasn't any in the dish. Rang up to tell them but they informed me that there was crushed black pepper. If the name of the dish is Kali mirch chicken then the main taste should me black pepper as it should over power any other taste/flavour. I much prefer the South Indian (Kerala) version cooked in ghee or butter where you can see and taste lots of black pepper. This was a poor show. On the flip side the hariyali chicken tikka was great and strongly recommend this as a starter as it's packed with flavour.

bought a collection. The butter tandoori roti had no butter and soft at all. Very difficult to eat. The tandoori chicken supposed to be extra hot no tandoor flavour and lack spices just color. The chicken fried rice had too much soya sauce. Definetely, this place has gone down.

The food overall was lovely. Very happy with it. However, I've never known a Mint-Choc Ice-cream Milkshake to be made up of chocolate ice-cream & freshly chopped GARDEN MINT!!... No it tasted like a chocolate Mojito mocktail. Awful. 🤮

The food here is mostly very good BUT seriously guys, learn how to give better customer service!!! Once again well over an hour wait for 4 dishes food on aSunday evening! Then top it off my chicken shashlik was so salty it was inedible but it also looked like it was just left overs from the day before! Called to complain and they said they would send me out another one I asked for the chicken tikka - you think one dish for a complaint it would be delivered quickly but no! Over another hour for 4 pieces of chicken tikka! Seriously how slow can one place go! Also not helped that they gave their delivery driver the wrong postcode so poor guy was never going to find us! In all seriousness they do good flavoured food but I cannot deal with incompetence when it comes to service! Do what others do, pause taking orders when at capacity! In the long run it will ensure customers aren’t p’d off waiting for hours and actually come back!

Your milkshakes aren't what you say they are, I ordered a Nutella and mint choc chip milkshake, the Nutella was blatantly a choc ice from what you would get back in the day that you would hate because it was so cheap! And the mint choc chip... instead of using real mint choc chip ice cream you used fresh Garden mint... It astounds me that was okay.

I love this place! They prepare good dishes, they have a rich menu, The chef in that spot is an expert, I enjoy very much tasting all their dishes. The dishes are consistently fresh, the service towards the visitors is agreeable. I frequently visit this restaurant and I was never disappointed. I recommend it to all my friends.

Earlier I had posted a very bad review for this restaurant and rated it like 1star . But I think it has definitely improved in last couple of months. For faster delivery we used deliveroo to order from it instead of ordering directly. So still not sure how their delivery is when you order directly. Minus the delivery the food is amazing ,absolutely no complains. It defintalety reminds me of Delhi to some extent. Keep up the good work.

I dine in this great spot quite often! This is my favorite spot to to have a good dinner. I go there routinely. The cooking is of high quality, the crew is helpful and the price is fair. I like being in this restaurant to have a nice dinner.

You get authenticated Delhi taste good here. I’ve tried Indian food at many restaurants in London from very reputed restaurants like Dishoom to normal ones, but none of them had actual Indian taste in their food. Delhi live provides the best authenticated Indian taste food, I would highly recommend to visit this place if you are looking for authenticated Indian taste food in London.

The place offers a fantastic variety of fresh food. I like dining here. Staff members are always very friendly, rates are convenient and the place is always neat.

I placed an order for a takeaway given the COVID situation. The food smelt like it had been frozen for weeks and off. Well, there was no way I was giving that that to my kids or wife. £30 it cost for food pictured! This place is disgusting, I really recommend not going here at all!

Normally I order somewhere else they were close today so I thought give it a try with this one..just ordered ras malai and gajar ka halwa..ras malai tasted like a medicine 😟 and gajar ka halwa is just burnt carrots with suger ..over cooked carrots..very disappointed infact ras malai half leaked in bag before arriving 🤣

1st would like to say sorry to the lovely young lady on the phone...you are 5 That’s were it ends!, 2hours later my food arrived cold and not even edible...and I’m hungry by now!!As I’m now out of work due to lockdown..this was meant to be a treat! Be great full that your still able to trade and not roll out such food that was very poor That I had to bin it

We arrived for our reservation @ 1830 in August for our first dining experience since the lockdown was implemented. Everything started well, being promptly served for drinks and starters and from there everything went down hill. We asked for our mains order to be taken several times, each time being brushed off with promises that the waiter (there was three waiters who I believe may have even been the owners) will return shortly. We saw guests who had arrived after us be served their starters, and then mains, and it seemed the level of service afforded to them was a lot lot better because their tables were ordering alcohol and/or they had more people on the table itself, and so I assume our family table with adults and kids was considered “low spend” in comparison, therefore not meriting the basic level of service a restaurant is expected to deliver (ie taking your order and then serving the associated food / drinks). At one point we even had to go and collect our own glasses of tap water for the kids as the waiters didn’t have time to come over and ask if we wanted more drinks / refills. After our fourth or fifth attempt (now @ 2100) of asking someone to take our mains order the waiter finally returned and with no apology requested our order for mains, while also advising that this will take at least a further 30 minutes to prepare. His abruptness, and lack of apology meant that we decided at this point that the restaurant didn’t deserve any more money from us and we instead asked for our bill. The waiter / owner showed nothing but disregard at this point and amazingly blamed us for ordering drinks and starters which led to the delay in time of us being waited on for our mains order (while also saying they were busy with other tables and that’s why 2.5 hours isn’t a long time to have waited from point of entry to being able to order mains). This was my first and last experience at what was a shambles of a restaurant based on service alone. Amazingly I can’t offer any critique of the food as in 2.5 hours we didn’t get beyond starters. Unfortunately I won’t be eating here ever again, and can’t say why I would recommend anyone to ever part with their hard earned money to eat at this restaurant.

Whether it be due to COVID situation or limited staff, no one takes 2 hours to prepare food. And if you are going to take 2 hours, it should be explicitly mentioned on the website so people will be prepared for it.I actually liked the food from this place but the bad customer service, no follow ups and not even a single appology after ridiculous delays has completely put me off. I'm never going back to this place and they have lost a loyal customer.Someone very correctly said that the place should be called Delhi Tomorrow, place order today and eat tomorrow. If you want to eat in the same meal, stay away n look further.

And if you are going to take 2 hours, it should be explicitly mentioned on the website so people will be prepared for it. I actually liked the food from this place but the bad customer service, no follow ups and not even a single appology after ridiculous delays has completely put me off. I'm never going back to this place and they have lost a loyal customer. Someone very correctly said that the place should be called Delhi Tomorrow, place order today and eat tomorrow. If you want to eat in the same meal, stay away n look further.

I visited the place last night it was very busy and staff was very polite and it was a great experience overall. Food was amazing highly recommend.

It was worst experience last night. they were not following any COVID guidelines (no mask 😷 on waiters and at reception, not enough space between two tables, no empty table in whole restaurant).Restaurant was fully booked in closed environment. I have been using EAT OUT TO HELP OUT and this is the first restaurant where no free space/ empty table in between of booked tables. We order everything in one go still took 1hr in between of starter and main course. on Top of it was too noisy and rude staff. I will not recommend this one in the COVID 19 time. BIG NO FROM MY SIDE

Top quality food. Good service and genuinely authentic taste. Restaurant is high quality food with high quality service. We have also had a collection order and were impressed with the packaging and freshness of the order. Food is always delicious.

Fantastic atmosphere and very tasty food, highly recommend!! Food was extremely fresh, with the perfect balance of spices: not too spicy but can definitely appreictate the flavours and spices used. Am sure if some people preferred spicier food they can adjust to taste. Staff very friendly also.

Great food and service. Good value for money.

Should be called Delhi tommorow ( not live), order now eat tommorow. Should have given half star. Had to wait 1.5 hours for main course. Before even going to restaurant ,i did call them and ask is it confirmed and ok? , the reply was "yeah thats fine". But no it was not fine ..... had to come out without eating... Other restaurants are there on same road. Suggestion for all : If they dont serve you in next half hour after your visit, your main course , just walk out as you will be wasting time in this restuarant.

Food was very good it was the 2hrs wait between starters and main course that was the down side

Extremely poor customer service. Waited for 2 hours and food didn’t arrive. Will definitely not visit again.
