I've tried many of the Indian restaurants in Upminster, Hornchurch and Rainham but the Village is by far the best. The flavours of the food are rich and the sides offer great quality too. The staff are welcoming and professional. Prices are reasonable and I would recommend this place over any other in the local area.

First visit to this restaurant and very impressed. First and forth most the food was exceptional. I would recommend the specials full of flavour with nice balanced heat. An additional bonus is the bring your own alcohol option with the staff quickly providing glasses and bottle open . This really helped in keeping the price of the meal down. 5 minute walk from Upminster station and a convenient shop next door selling a range of drink options. A fantastic meal and enjoyable evening!

Food was ok, my son loves a curry and he left it which is so un like him was very bland Service was very poor ask to take away as most was left and was given box’s and told so yourself. Better restaurants for the money

We pre booked here for 8 for the first time going to the Village All I would say we had no idea it was bringing your own alcohol & maybe the staff should maybe mention when people book. As we turned up empty handed. Luckily Waitrose opposite was still open. And I believe there is an off licence next door. There is a good selection of food and everything we ordered was very nice. Service was good and the waiter ( don’t know his name) was accommodating. The restaurant was full and I can see why. We will definitely be going here again.

Undoubtedly the best Indian in Upminster. The service from Zuber was excellent and the food is so fresh and authentic. I recommend the Lahore Meat on the special and the aubergine as a side dish . Thanks again to Zuber for making our night so welcoming .

The food was first class, have to say that has to be one of the best curries I have had in a long time. Went with a few friends and we had a great evening and this was all made even better by Zuber, our waiter who was so friendly helpful and took so much pride in ensuring out food was spot on, and we were having a good night. Thank you Zuber, Village Indian and we will return very soon.

We have eaten here several times since it opened & always enjoy the food . Presumably due to the “dreaded cost of living crisis “ we noticed that portion size has reduced, particularly the rice ,where a portion used to be enough for the two of us but is now only enough for one. BYO still makes this a good value restaurant though.

Every time we have a curry at this restaurant, it is always a great experience as the service and food is of the highest standard. The main man Zuber give's us such good service and always makes us welcome and even if the restaurant is packed he will always find us a table. If you like your curry fresh and hot with added great service then pop along to the Village Inn in Upminster as you wont be disappointed and will walk away having enjoyed great food and will always return for more. Thank you to Zuber and the team, another great meal.

I can't fault the food here all totally delicious but we were totally let down on Christmas eve and totally ruined what should have been a good nigh with good friends we have not seen for months We! We were a table of 8- 2 families who have not seen each other for months and was looking forward to a really nice get together for Xmas eve. from the moment we arrived they were clearly rushing us...then it become clear they had double booked our table...slamming down the bill on our table and demanding we leave after just 1 hr 15 mins of being there. we asked for desert...they said all the ice cream had melted and they had nothing else to offer..really?!?!?..tried to tell us the manager was in the kitchen...but then to be told he wasn't. Our bill was over £180 for 1 hr 15 mins of terrible service and all they could say is we will give you 10% off next time you come in my free Poppadoms...what a joke. I also feel sorry for the poor party waiting for over 30 mins as clearly were told they had a table when we were booked in. never ever will I return and recommend others to steer clear also if you want a nice relaxed meal. so disappointed and totally furious we even paid our bill but didn't want to ruin the night totally by causing a scene. I messaged them on Facebook and was promised a manager would call me on 27th...nothing. they have now blocked me on Facebook and ignored my message to chase for response. It's such a shame as we have had a few take aways from here and food was lovely hence reason we booked a table....never again will I eat here. The staff were rude and unable to cope well with the mess up or dissatisfaction ... Avoid!!!!

We have been visiting the Village now on a regular Friday or Saturday basis. Tasted a number of the starters and mains and have have found them all to be extremely fresh and well cooked. Being a small restaurant the volumes levels can be quite high on occasions, however it does not spoil your evening and it is good to see the Village doing really well. All the waiters have a good knowledge of the dishes and a special mention for Zibed who makes everybody feel very welcome. David & Deb

I have eaten here a number of times over the past year or so, and I have to say that it I have never had a bad meal. I have tried pretty much everything off the specials menu and they have some really great dishes, an excellent range. Tonight I had Lahori meat, not the sort of thing that I would normally go for, but having tried most of the other dishes, I thought I would give it a go. I wasn't disappointed. It was not your typical Indian dish, less spicy, with a subtle garlic and onion flavour, in a rich, thick and delicious gravy. I usually go for spicy or fragrant dishes, but I was so glad I opted for this. The meat, my god the meat.. it was so tender and soft and flavoursome. Absolutely delicious. It is when I have something from another Indian restaurant that I am reminded how good the Village is by comparison. Their flavours are always good and the food is well cooked and of a high quality. The Bhajis, the naan, the rice are all perfectly done, and not too greasy as is sometimes the case. Also, I didn't feel disgustingly full as I sometimes do after an Indian; meal, rice, nnaa and a bhaji was just the right amount, and I actually felt nicely full afterwards. Spot on. There is a whole world of other treats on their menu: the house special is sweet and delicious, and the Ghurkas revenge, the butter chicken and the Kashmiri chicken are all equally delightful. If you prefer a classic like a dansak, often a good barometer for the quality of an Indian restaurant, that is really good too. Upminster has always had a multitude of Indian restaurants, including some really high quality long established ones, but the Village is my go to and is easily as good as any other in the area.

Visited the Village a couple of weeks ago and what a wonderful experience. The service and food were wonderful and the dishes were extremely fresh. The prices of the meals are slightly dearer than the normal restaurants in the area, however we felt the quality of food was higher and with the bring your own beer / wine / spirits policy your bill works out a lot cheaper of you like a drink. We will be visiting again this Friday with friends and hope we enjoy a similar experience.

I've now had three meals in here, and one takeaway, either with friends or my partner. Not one of us has been failed to be impressed. The food is a little more pricey than its nearby competitors (some of which are also very good), but not excessively so, and as you need to bring your own booze you don't really notice overall. But no problem paying (a little more) for food of this quality. Also, the restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere, decor, and the food comes in beautiful serving earthenware bowls. One word of warning, the hot dishes are properly hot -which is of course as they should- but thats not the case in many other Indian's I find. Their signature lamb Kama Sutra is well worth a try, and the chicken tikka vindaloo was excellent. I may have been to Indian restaurants as good (although I'm not sure) but certainly none better.

Masala Grill was recommended by friends so visited for dinner with my partner, but really wish we hadn't. The service was awful - the waiter just pointed at a table, laid the cutlery & handed us menus without even saying a word. The food was just really disppointing. The mushroom rice was crunchy, as if it had been cooked earlier & left out. The sag aloo was completely without flavour and really dry. Chicken dhansak is my favorite curry, but this one was overly spicy & lacking the lentil texture & taste you'd expect. My partner"s masala was fine, but his keema nan was soggy and undercooked, while my garlic nan was burnt. The bill was brought up with no hot towels but with after eights where the dark chocolate had turned white.
