We booked a table for Sunday early evening. The restaurant website states that the a la carte menu is served Monday-Sunday 1200-2200. We arrived to be started to be guided to our table with the waitress holding three sheets of A4 paper with Sunday Menu and telling us that from the five choices, they had no roasts or duck left. We said that it was fine as we were ordering from the main menu. We were then told that they don’t do the a la carte menu on Sundays. One of our party is vegetarian and the a la carte has several choices for her. The Sunday option was a broccoli quiche! When we raised this to who I assume was the manager, her attitude was poor. I stated to her that their website does state that the main menu is available on Sundays up to 10pm. She was unbothered and said that they couldn’t change the website. We took our custom to the excellent Greek Taverna on Bold Street instead. A poor showing from a place we have previously enjoyed

I’ve always ordered from this restaurant as a delivery takeout due to it being the nearest one to me, never had a problem with food or delivery. The menu prices however need to be updated on the website!! There is a downside….. they shouldn’t charge for delivery over £30 but the food is lovely.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel for three nights and eat in the restaurant on two nights. Unfortunately, the first night was not very good. My wife is Gluten Free and the choice on the menu was very limited. In the end a meal had to be adapted and she finished up with salmon on a bed of salad. To say that the salad was just thrown together would be an understatement. Then for dessert, the only choice was a fruit scone and, believe it or not, they did not have any. My meal, and those of our friends were OK but you can't mess up fish and chips. However, for a hotel of this standard, we certainly did not think this acceptable. My wife made her feeling felt to the restaurant manager. He said that they were having a management meeting the next day and that he would raise the issue. He must have done because, the next time we went in for dinner, any choice my wife would make would be adapted to suit her diet. Well done but, surely, there should not have been the necessity to have to have a confrontation over a diet which is not a fad.
