Plaza Brasserie in Liverpool

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Hotel for three nights and eat in the restaurant on two nights. Unfortunately, the first night was not very good. My wife is Gluten Free and the choice on the menu was very limited. In the end a meal had to be adapted and she finished up with salmon on a bed of salad. To say that the salad was just thrown together would be an understatement. Then for dessert, the only choice was a fruit scone and, believe it or not, they did not have any. My meal, and those of our friends were OK but you can't mess up fish and chips. However, for a hotel of this standard, we certainly did not think this acceptable. My wife made her feeling felt to the restaurant manager. He said that they were having a management meeting the next day and that he would raise the issue. He must have done because, the next time we went in for dinner, any choice my wife would make would be adapted to suit her diet. Well done but, surely, there should not have been the necessity to have to have a confrontation over a diet which is not a fad.

The brasserie offers a good range of fresh food at a reasonable price. The gammon topped with a duck egg was superb, the fish and chips was also well cooked and the chips were top-notch

Offering both table d'hote and a la carte selection you can choose from a good selection of starters, main meals and desserts. All are well cooked and were enjoyable. If you like sticky toffee pudding then save some space!

We had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant the staff are warm and friendly and the menu although limited was very good, the choices would suit most people.

A bit of staff training needed I think, staff were pleasant and apologetic but running around like headless chickens!

The meal was well cooked and well presented and the staff were more than helpful, without being intrusive. There was an overall pleasant atmosphere. We will come again.

Too expensive, staff were not attentive when we had a meal here during our stay. Two waiters served us one was dreadful, one almost knew what he was doing and tried to be pleasant. Would prefer food served on plates instead of slate. There was no restaurant atmosphere or ambiance. Did not feel like a restaurant. Was okay for breakfast which was self-service, the cleaner brushing the floor around everyone was unnecessary and off-putting. Disappointing dining experience.

Stayed at the hotel and used this resturaunt for breakfast , great choice and set in a clean and welcoming environment. Good service all round.

I have stopped eating here, its the only downside of an excellent hotel, for instance the breakfast is £11-£15 depending on how you stay and for a orange juice cup of tea and couple of slices of toast its too much, there is no healthy or non cooked option. The evening meals are slow and unfulfilling no wonder whenever I stay which is at least twice a month the restaurant is empty, I had two meal both were poor and I felt hungry afterwards, one included chips, I counted them six and the meal came to £38 for just myself, on the other occasion I had lamb, the two pieces served for £18 approx. were tiny and no flavour, it was supposed to be rump, I think it was a chop trimmed down, it took nearly an hour to serve and I could count on my hand how many people were dining, if you have a restaurant in your hotel you need to capture the clientele not allow them to go elsewhere. This is mine and my colleagues preferred hotel to stay at, we now eat out every time we stay.

We had minute steak baguettes with salad and twice-cooked chunky chips. Baguettes were removed from the plate, as the meals were so big. Gorgeous!

Good food, especially breakfast which can be cooked to order. Delicious Manx kippers At dinner the service was a little slow at times, otherwise everything was fine.

Perfectly nice food at the Plaza Brasserie and reasonable prices - convenient if you don't want to leave the hotel in the evening. We were seated by the door however and there was a lot of noise from the seating area in the reception. Tables and chairs were rather shabby. Service was pleasant and helpful.

Poor service and average food. Much better to eat aT the many nearby places. Staff are not very welcoming. The crab cake starter was nice but small. My steak was rare at one end and medium in the middle. But service lets this down more than anything.

Perfect lunch time menu. The staff are great and the prices are fab! Highly recommend for a quick bite to eat.

stopped in for lunch, manager was pleasant, but the waiting on staff are too young and can't take orders properly. My dish had a piece of plastic wrapping in the salad, and the pizzas where those ones you buy in the freezer department in Iceland, bearing in mind this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. The bill also seemed expensive with no receipt given so we couldn't check prices. I used to be a member of the harbour club but won't be going back again. This review is based purely on the eating experience and does not reflect on the hotel accommodation.

Non avendo voglia di uscire dopo un'intensa giornata di lavoro, ho deciso di cenare nel ristorante dell'albergo. Anche se da solo, odio cenare in camera, quindi ho chiesto un tavolo per una persona e sono sceso nella hall.La genuina cordialità e l'estrema professionalità del servizio sono state una sorpresa, ho potuto discutere di vini e cibo con il cameriere ed è grazie ai suoi consigli che la cena è stata ottima. Il cabernet-sauvignon francese è stata una scelta azzeccata ed ideale per il filetto al sangue che ho ordinato in seguito, accompagnato da patate in doppia cottura. Ho lasciato un po' di spazio per il dolce al cioccolato: sublime.Una cucina molto ricercata, al pari livello dell'hotel che la ospita.Locale poco frequentato, non è proprio in centro e forse è troppo associato all'hotel, ma con un rapporto qualità/prezzo invidiabile.Accessibile per portatori.

Take advantage of the early bird menu in the restaurant 5.30-6.30, the food was tasty and well cooked and the service was very good with attentive and friendly staff

I had a very enjoyable meal here I only went for a burger it was very good the staff were friendly if a little slow to take my order. My desert was very good and the restaurant offered a nice selections of wine by the glass as well as the bottle. I notice that there was a bad review for the Plaza Brasserie this week the hotel might want to see which chef was working as Monday night was very good

corned beef hash was abismal. just sloppy corned beef held up by chunky, undercooked chunks of new potato and served with a hard poached egg.

Nice restaurant and great quality food, service was a bit quick as while still finishing last mouthful my plate was cleared away, also a service charge is added to the bill.

Excellent service, very friendly staff. I have tasted lovely sea bass over the years but I must say that this was the best I have ever tasted.

Went there sat 1/12/2012, room was ok if a little crowded, not much space around the tables. dance floor very very small. but the worse thing was the food, it was terrible, we had ordered our food in advance, so they should have go it right, when we were served, tree people were left out, when they eventually got served their food was cold so that had to be sent back, two of our group had no meal at all as they had not prepared then even thought it was ordered in advance, another meal had to be sent back as the turkey she ordered was still pink, hotel looks lovely inside but food a real let down, would not eat there again.

We didn't stay here but chose it for a family meal. There was 13 of us and was one of the few menus we found where everyone was happy!The service here really wasnt that good. We were the only peopele in when we got there. It took forever to take our order, it took ages for the food to come out, on each course we had they forgot someone's meal and then whilst we were eating one of the waitresses was hanging round and as soon as someone finished she took their plate away! My cousin hadn't even finished and her plate was gone. I found this very rude, surely you wait till everyone is finished and then clear up!Most of the staff we came across here were lovely and helpful but the few waitresses let it down in our eyes!
