Friendly staff - nice food, quick service

Amazing local cafe, we absolutely love coming here. The coffee and cake is amazing and they have a really good breakfast and lunch offer. The owners are lovely and it is a very child oriented cafe, with a lovely indoor and outdoor playing area. They can get very busy on a friday as the main hall has a full day of classes, but it always feels very warm and friendly, even when busy!

One of the best motorways services on the British motorway network. The other one is their sister service station at Tebay in Cumbria. These service stations put all others to shame. There are several options for food with some quicker than others and with different choices. There is also an extensive shopping area mainly for food and drink but also some gifts. I particularly liked the outside seating pods at the front. I think these are a carry over from the pandemic but a great idea for informal seating and eating. Gloucester services is my first choice when on the M5.

Delightful little cafe! Have been twice recently, and both times I have had the homemade soup. Really tasty each time and they seem to do a different flavour weekly. A very reasonably priced menu for all their food, cakes, ice creams and drinks. Lovely to wander around the Abbey gardens after, which you can follow a path for a decent walk. Thoroughly recommend this place for a relaxed lunch and an unspoilt easy walk after. I feel I should also add that the service is friendly, fast and always with a smile!

Me and my family have visited fagins on many occasions and have been happy with the service and food. Plenty of outdoor space for kids to have fun. Sunday roast dinner is traditional and good but get there early as it gets busy after 1pm. Staff are pleasant to deal with. Large parking erea.

Food was good. However, I asked where to fill my water bottle up and didn’t see where the lady mentioned. I went back to ask again and the lady was rude and unfriendly with her response. Then she looked at her colleagues and pulled a face. Such a shame as it’s a beautiful place.

Absolutely stunning venue!! I held a baby shower for my best friend and everything was perfect! The view was incredible, the staff were amazing, the afternoon tea was delicious and the room was fantastic! Thank you so much to the staff for making it a wonderful experience!

Best services in the land. Highlight of our regular trips to Cornwall. Lovely staff and nice and clean. Super dog friendly too. Kids eat for a quid when buying an adult meal. Food is locally sourced and high quality.

Lo que lo hace perfecto se está expandiendo para incluir el menú diario o sopa, por ejemplo una ensalada o plato del día. El servicio es muy amable. Excellent food, very friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend a visit. The quality of the was good and plenty to choose from.

Thanks to the staff and especially the first aider who patched Mum up after her small accident. Mum has been checked over by the NHS who said the first aider did a great job. Coffee and cake were delicious as usual.

No comments on the breakfast which was good but is part if the hotel rating. As for the restaurant concerned… As a hotel guest I ordered bread and oil from the menu. What we got was ordinary brown bread with sunflower oil mixed with some balsamic vinegar. Disgusting and unacceptable! Also as a hotel guest not opting to put this on the room not pleased with the exorbitant 12,5% gratuity fee.

The first issue with the restaurant is lighting… If you have a window table, they are really dark and badly lit. They also have to shut the window blinds in the evenings because the house is being flood lit from outside - so the light would be too bright - which is a shame because you therefore can't actually look out of the windows in the evening. The second issue I have with this restaurant is the staff spend more time looking at their computers with their backs to all the guests - as if the computer is going to tell them how to give good customer service - when actually all they need to do is face their guests and keep their eyes open. I struggled several times to get the attention of any of the waiting staff. However, once you had their attention, the staff on the whole very friendly and helpful. Particularly the female breakfast staff. The third and most concerning thing about this restaurant is that I ordered something with a side of mashed potato and the mashed potato they gave me was obviously from a packet of powdered mashed potato; it was of a horrible texture and tasted disgusting. This is completely unacceptable for a restaurant at a Mercure hotel. Beware… The hotel also accepts dogs so I spent most of my dinner sitting listening to a dog yapping in the living room through the archway next door. If dogs are barking, the staff need to not ignore this and instead go and have a discreet word with the owner rather than allow them to disturb all the other guests. Not everybody likes dogs - and most people in any event don't want to hear dogs barking constantly while trying to eat their dinner. I don't often say this but I would not recommend until they change a few things.

Popped in for a quick refreshment after a lovely walk with my partner and dog. Staff were super friendly engaging with us and our dog and even offered a treat for him which was a sweet gesture. Will definitely be back ❤️
