Kings Head Upton St Leonards in Stroud

The front of house staff were not welcoming at all and under no uncertain terms, we were told we hadn't booked. We sat in the bar area and I have to say , I think the main Manager was very moody. There was no feedback on is your meal OK, etc, or any social interaction from staff. The majority of staff looked like they did not want to be there. I do think this is a pub for regulars and because we were staying at a local hotel with different accents , were treated differently indeed. However the food was great but were very very disappointed by the Customer service provided. We would never return again as the atmosphere was very unwelcoming.

Visited for early evening food. Probably a good pub just for drinks. We did eat as been out all day, okay but typical of Greene King local, basic menu/food, mainly ordered/delivered in set pre-made portions, from same suppliers as they all are, cannot really add more. Might return for drinks as seemed friendly service. Only other thing is we found too bright inside, restaurant area included, so not best ambience when eating.

Great food, had Chicken Katsu curry which was delicious. The chicken was really succulent. I had the squid to start and that was excellent. I don’t usually have a dessert but it was carrot cake - couldn’t resist. It was served with ice cream and was perfect! The service was brilliant and Cassie and Ellie were lovely and made us feel very welcome - Friendly without being too familiar.

Good pub food, friendly attentive staff, cheerful relaxed environment- everything you want from a local pub. Good value too.

Staff were so welcoming and helpful. Kieran was a great host and a fount of knowledge and a truly great person who helped us so much with our stay locally.

Very friendly, helpful staff. Service was very good and food lovely. There was a great choice on the menu. We can recommend the sundaes. We liked the fact there was enough space between the tables as it didnt feel cramped at all. We will definately visit again.

The garlic bread and lasagne were microwaved prior to being served causing dry brittle cheese. The garlic bread was also powdery from being microwaved. The salad garnish was dry on the ends again from being i a microwave prior to being served.My wife's steak was over cooked and dry the merlot /dripping sauce was more "bisto" merlot gravy. The glass of malbec and the cup of tea were the best part of our meals. We had blue light discount which lessened the blow. The receipt was already printed when we went to pay, wouldn't go here again.

New to the area and originally booked another venue but left disappointed and came to the kings head Gloucester and what a fantastic time!! Great food, great drinks reasonable prices and live music!! Thanks will defo make this our local xx

Love coming here, dog friendly. Food is great, and staff are lovely. Kieran is always helpful, cheerful & has great taste in music. All the staff here go above & beyound. Atmosphere is always lively.

Service is always fantastic. Would highly recommend the Butcher's Platter on the specials board. Amazing value for money and everything on the plate titilated my taste buds. We often come in for the baked camembert, which is equally delicious. Keep up the good work, guys.

The lasagne and garlic bread I ordered had been microwaved, it was greasy, the cheese was dry and brittle on the top and the pasta had dried out on the bottom and stuck to the dish. The steak my wife had was over cooked , the cup of tea I had was the best part of my meal. The glass of Malbec was the best bit of my wife's meal. We had blue light discount which made paying palatable. We wouldn't recommend it.

Used to be good placw but gone gone down hill. Some people need to learn manners. As described before, dark haired lady that walks around thinking she owns the place. Needs to learn some manners. It was cold in the pub didn't feel there was any heating on .The food wasn't very special chips weren't very hot and the gammon was very dry .probably won't go again.

Great service and friendly staff. Unfortunately let down by the food. We ordered fish & chips - the fish was bland, watery and overcooked. The tartare sauce was tasteless and the chips not great.

Had a lovely evening meal here with family. The choice was good, the food was good, the service was good too. Can't say anything negative about our experience. It is a pub so serves pub type meals, but the food was good. Not high end dining hence the 4star rating but would definitely recommend a visit.

One of the best family friendly pub in Gloucester. Spacious parking is available. Staff are polite and friendly. Weekend need advance seat reservations. While staying at a local hotel near Upton St Leonard’s we visited The King’s Head on 3 separate occasions and consistently found the service to be quick, friendly and helpful. One of our party is gluten-intolerant and she found the Non-Gluten Containing Ingredient Menu very helpful. We would recommend to customers wanting a relaxed friendly pub meal experience.

Visiting the area on holiday with my two dogs and family and popped in for some lunch. The food was delicious and very fairly priced, with a variety of options to choose from. Our dogs were welcomed and we felt so comfortable in this pub. The staff were so lovely and friendly. The whole team are such a credit to themselves and their hard work! Would definitely recommend!

Firstly the staff were welcoming friendly snd helpful. Had already pre booked a table so no waiting. I ordered the mushroom pie with mash and veg. Pie supposed to have mushroom but just really a greyish gravy. The suet crust was hard, maybe heavily microwaved. The mash was similarly like over microwaved. The veg wasn’t that good either. I didn’t want to complain as with my relative so didn’t want to spoil our evening. I guess pie bought in so a supplier problem with filling and maybe kitchen needs to be mindful when heating. I will go to another Greene King in Hampshire as I do like the chain. Just passing on my experience but understand others may have had a better one with same choice. Credit to the friendly staff though.

Visited the kings head for food on Saturday night with some good friends, 2 of us were vegan the food was really good and great service we all loved the pub and food thank you.

We had lunch for my birthday on 24th June 2024. The food and the service were excellent. Highly recommend the place.

Food was very nice, had a nice chicken schnitzel and the salsa that was with it was very nice, service was spot on and timely, a tad crowded but that was expected. Over all 4.5/5🌟

I was met by friendly welcoming staff, made to feel at home. The food was amazing and very reasonably priced. Super cute garden area and lovely decor inside.

After only giving 1hours notice for a table of 10 we all agreed that the staff were very chatty and friendly and the service was good considering it was for 10 people the food came out at the same time and was lovely and hot we all enjoyed our meal thank you so much will see you again
