Called by for some lunch I had the gammon and my friend had hunters chicken .were both delicious and the service was great from Carmel

While staying at a local hotel near Upton St Leonard’s we visited The King’s Head on 3 separate occasions and consistently found the service to be quick, friendly and helpful. One of our party is gluten-intolerant and she found the Non-Gluten Containing Ingredient Menu very helpful. We would recommend to customers wanting a relaxed friendly pub meal experience.

Good service, very good food and not a bad price. What more could you ask for for lunch. Caroline was very accommodating.

Very nice service from Carmel and Ellie, to compliment the good food for our party of eight. It was quite busy and every other table seemed to be having a good time as well, as the atmosphere was very pleasant.

My partner and I have recently visited this monstrosity of an establishment. They do not appear to cater for a variety of needs, with a highly exclusive menu - there was only one vegan dish available (unless you count the side salad or mixed vegetables), and we were not even asked about allergies. The "chicken" that arrived on our table had clearly been left on a hotplate for a rather long time. The ends of it were drier than a dog's tongue sticking out a window on road-trip. The garlic bread was so hard that I doubt even a strongman wielding a pickaxe could've broken through it. The vegetables were so moist I thought I was munching on Gweneth Paltrow's beef curtains after a skinny dip with David Beckham. It was unfortunate that we had to pay before the meal, otherwise we would not have eaten the food and re-ordered. Luckily we were a few drinks deep and decided just to plough through it so we could leave sooner.Aside from that, the staff were actually quite pleasant - although it did take at least 3 of them huddled round the till screen to correctly order two simple beverages.All in all, a solid 10/10.

La comida era buena, pero a veces tienen que esperar en un bar vacío para el personal que deje de tomar a la otra y aviso.Esperó por 5 minutos en un bar vacío la última vez cuando el personal estaba hablando de la otra en el extremo de la barra. Otro cliente dijo personal que estaba esperando. Y no es la primera vez que la noche, mismo sucedio en otras noches y cuando fui a por más bebidas esa misma noche.

No es algo especial, eso seguro, pero puede tener una buena comida y de la bebida en ese pub. También el personal es bastante tranquilo, que creo que tal vez un problema para alguien que prefiere una experiencia, pero entonces ¿por qué vienen a la espera de un servicio de pub y un restaurante de 5 estrellas? Tuve pocas cosas diferentes allí, carnes, pollo, pescado y patatas fritas y asado los domingos. Algunos de ellos son realmente grandes porciones! No recomendaría el mayor de carne, aunque es enorme, es difícil comer carne, que no es agradable.

Hemos visitado un par de veces para comer y no puedo criticar ni una sola cosa. El servicio es siempre amable y acogedor, y la comida es deliciosa y a un precio razonable. Especial mención a Hannah y bárbara que siempre encantador y atento. Sin duda recomiendo que pruebe el desastre Eton refresco!

La comida era increíble, pedí ensalada de salmón y fue precioso! Nada malo con la comida y la bebida, sin embargo el personal del bar era grosero y tan hablador hacia los otros. Las mujeres o quizás puedo decir chica estaba charlando con su colega mientras nos servía, hablando sobre cosas irrelevantes como su rota. Beer good. Food is the usual pub menu. I had a BLT which was ok. My husband had a steak sandwich. The steak was tough and consisted of bits of meat in thick bread which had no "butter" on it. Chips were ok though.

Yo no podía culpa de ella por la manera en que manejó la situación. Lo que creo que la mayoría de su equipo personal es grosero y más interesados en teléfonos y teniendo que servir a pagar al cliente selfie. Jefe de equipo (asumiendo), gracias a las mujeres en la camisa rosada. Usted será el único motivo por el que volvería a este pub para una comida.

Mi marido y yo nos alojamos en Bowden Hall por dos noches durante las vacaciones de pascua. viajar a el lugar en taxi, el conductor lo describió como un hotel en la cima de una colina con no mucho, pero también se dice que fue en la parte "pijo" de la ciudad. Llegamos al lugar que estaba parecía impresionante exterior - blanco y crema con características originales georgianas construir como una gran puerta de madera con asas de metal de resistencias. Una vez dentro del vestíbulo de recepción me sorprendió recibidos por un personal amable y pudo apreciar la decoración moderna casado con características locales (salida de la mesa de dos bebidas cerdo lugar). Nos alojamos en la habitación superior, la cual era amplia y estaba limpia, con una cama enorme. Había un montón de luz natural en la habitación gracias a dos amplios ventanales originales georgianos. Había un armario grande con una plancha de hierro y decente (así que no hay necesidad de tener que pedir una de recepción). También hay albornoces y zapatillas frescas. También nos quedamos encantados de encontrar una máquina de Nespresso con cápsulas gratis. El baño limpio y práctico, mientras que la habitación como un poco arruinado tenía una horrible azul Lino que es parecido al suelo que he visto en los cuartos de hospital.Fuimos a cenar en la Brasserie, que era excelente. El servicio era excelente y la comida era deliciosa, estábamos muy impresionados. Era un poco caro, los huéspedes del hotel que cenar en la Brasserie recibirá un suplemento que ayuda a 44 libras. A la mañana siguiente se celebró en brassiere - desayuno era de un estándar decente, pero por £11 por persona hubiera esperado a tener un poco más de una selección disponible.Los jardines eran preciosos, con un pequeño lago/Río cerca con patos para familias jóvenes, para disfrutar de preciosas vistas desde la 4 ª planta y habitaciones bien cuidado césped circundante para huéspedes para caminar y disfrutar.En general, diría que este hotel es una pequeña joya de West country, con buena comida y un gran servicio.Mi opinión del hotel es:1. Ten en cuenta que no hay ascensores - si tiene un montón de equipaje y luego solicitar una habitación en uno de los pisos de nivel inferior. Hay una para huéspedes con problemas hacia la movilidad.2. Si comes en el restaurante el cerdo y el pato son los principales, deliciosa y el pudin es delicia. Si Paolo es su camarero le bien cuidado.3. El secador de pelo en la habitación isreally buena - es un Tigi (no la típica basura poco secador de pelo hotel sin poder), así que no se sienten obligados a traer su propio.

Came in on Saturday had an amazing experience at the Kings head. The waiter was brilliant running around making sure everyone was happy. The food whilst we did wait a bit longer then expected was well worth the wait. We will see you again soon.

We had a great meal in this pub. We had the steak and ale pie which was homemade full of tasty meat and very filling and great value.

Food cold, 40 minute wait, poor food availability. Felt sorry for the waitress, she was run off her feet, the place was a mess all while the manager was out buying more beef and veggies. I won't be visiting again.

Worse place ever booked a xmas meal here 2 weeks in advance.the night before are meal told the supplier never turned up with xmas food but could have something off the menu. No lager no cider and no roast dinner and service was very poor and they charged the earth for a poor xmas meal that never was ........ never again

Living locally we have often visited for a lunchtime meal, and both the food and service have been good. Because of this we booked our annual family meal for 9 of us. The service was laborious and full of hiccups, the food was barely worthwhile. Two meals had to be returned, overall a poor experience. Next year it will be elsewhere.

First visit to the King's Head the food was nice but when my kids dessert came out my one year old son had a dead fly on the top of his the staff did apologies and gave me a £1 refund but I don't think that's acceptable definitely don't think we will be visiting again

WE WILL NOT BE COMING HERE AGAIN!!Food came out warm at best!! Veg was over done and soggy!! Service was appalling, waitresses didn't look round the room and we could not get their attention to clear our plates. When a waitress started to clear an EMPTY table next to us I had to ask for our plates to be cleared as we were waiting for my husbands little boy's pudding to come out which when it did it was not edible due to the base still being frozen (was suppose to be a hot desert) we sent it back for ice cream!!

My husband and I visited the Kings Head this week and were impressed by the standard of food on the menu. The two meals for £9.99 is excellent value and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Although it was mid week it was very busy when we arrived at 7p.m. It is advisable to book and expect it to be quite noisy as lots of families take advantage of this offer.

Sunday lunch not bad, but a little overpriced and I've eaten a lot better. Sat outside on a warm September day and the waitresses were very attentive. Wine reasonably priced and nicely chilled. Not in a rush to go back but would visit again.

After reading some reviews was a little apprehensive about eating here. So glad we did we had two meals for ten pound deal and both meals were excellent value and and enjoyable. Service was excellent and drinks reasonably priced. Will visit again when in area.

I passed this place on the way to another venue and did not fancy it. Thankfully the other place was busy so we popped in here. Really really good food. We had steak and it was beautiful. The staff were really friendly and helpful. A great place for a family meal or to go with friends. Prices were very reasonable too. Will go back again

Sunday Lunch food was over cooked and tasteless, Beef was nothing but gristle and thready, The vegetables must have been cooked for ages and warmed through, The place had tables that were dirty even after the staff have cleared them. When I asked a member of staff if they could possibly wipe the table was given a cloth and told feel free, Yes the food is cheap but would rather spend more money and get a decent meal and service.. there are better places close to here.

We were a group of 6 - 4 chose the roast meal - beef was very overcooked - very poor choice of vegetables, carrots, raw broccoli and pickled cabbage - yorkshires very flat and hard - roasties were okay. We then ordered puddings but again these were very disappointing. We had a problem with the wheelchair lift in that it would not work so had to man-handle my son in his wheelchair up 6 steps. Staff we messing around behind the bar flicking a tea-towel at each other - not impressed at all

Called in for Sunday lunch. Limited availability as they had run out of Beef. Barman (Landlord?) was very unfriendly and staff disinterested.This used to be a great place but food prices have gone up, quality has deteriorated and all the friendly and fun staff seem to have gone. The hubby had scampi and was pleased with the quantity for the price. The only bad thing was the apple crumble pie was a bit doughy but edible. Very friendly staff.

We visited on a Sunday evening expecting it to be packed but with a food fayre on in Gloucester City it was quite quiet. Plenty of car parking spaces and easy to get to. Staff were welcoming and friendly, we asked for a table for 8 and within a few minutes it had been cleaned and we were seated. There was a good choice on the menu and it was hard to choose. Two opted for Hunters Chicken, two for Gammon and two for steaks, the children were also well catered for. The food was well presented and was delicious. There was also a good range of Beers and Lagers to choose from. Staff were very friendly and efficient. We will certainly visit again. We finished our drinks sat outside which was very pleasant.

This pub offers a great range of beers & lagers and the food was very good with a good choice. However, they didn't seem to have enough staff on behind the bar and we waited 1hr 15 mins for our meals to come out.

Fairly typical pub chain menu. Having said that I opted for the mushroom risotto from the gluten free menu and it was delicious. Place was a bit busy but staff made me feel very welcome so I would definately recommend this as a place to eat.

It's a local pub where there is good quality Real Ale and a selection of generally good food. Occasionally, we find some of the fish dishes overcooked and dry where the salmon is particular has probably been pre-cooked. However, there are good facilities for both indoor and outdoor eating and drinking together with excellent parking. The staff are friendly and helpful but we just wish there was a more permanent friendly face to give us a few words of welcome. Sadly, this never happens and being on a busy road, it tends to be more geared to passing trade and one is never quite sure who is in charge.

Only downer barman bit awkward not very personable so much so my partner asked me to get drinks as he couldn't face dealing with him again and he is very easy going!

We were doing a local walk and went to the Kings Head to order our meals about 10am . We arrived back about 12.45 and got drinks but despite pre-ordering we had to wait 40 minutes for our meals . Hardly any staff . Very disappointing , won't visit again .

We spent an enjoyable evening here on the eve of our friends wedding. Everyone was eating in waves as we all ordered our food individually. The food was good value and you get what you pay for. Staff were all very attentive, both the bar and waiting staff gave us a good experience.

Early evening midweek meal, at this friendly local pub /restaurant. Our food was average ok, but took an age to arrive, which given that the manager was running the bar, clearing tables and simultaneously being the waiter. He looked, and was, a bit overstreched.

17 family members met here for lunch.We were unable to pre order but this did not cause a problem and the meals were served promptly and together. I havent been here for a while beacuse the food became really hit and miss. So it was a nice surprise when i went with a friend for lunch in the week. We ordered our drinks and sat down to read the menu.we both wanted the hunters chicken wrap which came with chips and salad....however it came with a drink all for £5.99. We asked if we could do the meal deal even though we already had our drinks. This was no problem at all and the service was swift and the food was lovely! Will defo be going back,big improvement!

Went here last night for a family birthday. Only encountered 2 members of staff (a girl on the bar and a lady waitressing) but both were very attentive and helpful. Food was really nice. It's difficult for me to eat out being a coeliac but I enjoyed a 'normal' main & dessert which were both gluten-free with no cross-contamination. The steak I had was cooked to perfection, the best I have had in a long time. My family also enjoyed their meals although the sticky toffee pudding was tiny in comparison to the chocolate fudge cake, which was cheaper.

I stopped by for a pint and was pleasantly surprised by the welcome considering the standard of other pubs nearby. I think it's out of town location is both a blessing and a curse but I couldn't fault it and will be back again.

Ate here with family in 2014 and had an awful meal experience. Contacted Kate, new manager and was given an 'on the house' meal whenever we were all together. Finally managed to get there tonight and what a difference! Food, service both excellent and the atmosphere was also much changed.

We booked online as it was the Saturday before Valentine's Day. We all had a starter which didn't take long to arrive. They were all very good. Two of us had the chicken tikka which was delicious and the others had steak and pie which were both very tasty. Two for £10 on a Saturday on certain meals is great. Great service as usual and lovely atmosphere.

Went in over the Christmas period, mulled wine was advertised but they said they hadn't made any up as they didn't expect it to be busy. I'm sure you just heat it up in a pan! Then went in a couple of days ago for coffee and cake £2.99 advertised deal. Once again they said they had no cake. They didn't even offer an alternative eg a dessert and coffee for £2.99. Customer service and stock control is rubbish!

Went in here about 2pm one day for lunch. It looks nice from the outside and has ample car parking. It was very busy inside but we found a table and a waiter brought us a menu and took our drinks order. We ordered starters and then had Gammon and egg and Fish and chips for our main courses. The drinks were very nice being chilled and the food was excellent. It was well presented, well cooked and very tasty. We felt it was just the place to go for good food at a reasonable price. Visited this restaurant yesterday evening. All went well until the wrong sweet was brought, and the young man was less than polite when he said we'd ordered it!!!! The coup de gras was when my friend queried her tab bill, only to find she had been charged for 2 ciders which none of my party had had. The explanation given was that the people who had sat at the table before us had left without paying......but how could these drinks be added to someone elses tab?!!!!! To be honest, the meal was very mediocre, and my friend's salmon looked like it had been cooked three times over, just a dried up piece of something on her plate. The attitude of the staff was less than desirable.....and they were argumentative about what was their error because we weren't happy with the situation. A lesson in customer service wouldn't go amiss. I would not recommend this place to anyone.......I have visited many Greene King establishments which have been lovely.......and this one must be one of the worst.

Good portions, great menu, my only issue was sorted hassle free and quick and it was my individual issue that everyone has different tastes nothing they could have done prior to my order.

Good choice of menu with very good offers to make it very good value with friendly staff. Good local beers are served. Dogs only allowed in the garden

Booked a table but when arrived they could not initially find booking. Service was quick and staff happy to take drink orders at table. Food was good but blackboard misleads customers regarding number of onion rings served with steaks. We complained and were told it was a sign writing mistake......they just need to get it amended. Not sure if we will visit again as I don't rate places that mislead customers.
