The best restaurants serving Default food in Castle Tonbridge and Malling South East

Tried a veggie takeaway from Indi18 and, well… if subtlety were a sport, this meal would be in the Olympics. Let’s start with the tarka daal — a dish so mild, it could’ve been a side character in a Jane Austen novel. We kept waiting for the garlic and cumin to show up, but apparently they had the night off. Comforting? Sure. Memorable? Only if you enjoy beige. The saag paneer was the real plot twist. We expected bold, creamy spinach with juicy cubes of cheese. What we got was paneer floating in a green puddle that tasted like regret and missed opportunities. It desperately needed seasoning — like, even a whisper of salt would’ve helped. We’re not saying it was bland, but it made plain rice look edgy. Bombay aloo was the best of the lot, which is saying something because even it felt like it was just there for the participation trophy. The potatoes were soft, sure, but the spice level was somewhere between “barely detectable” and “was this boiled in tea water?” To be fair, the packaging was neat and everything arrived hot — so if you enjoy tidy disappointment, this place delivers. Literally. In summary: we wanted flavour fireworks. We got a damp sparkler and a polite nod. Hope they were just having an off night — because right now, we’re still emotionally recovering… with a bag of crisps.

The service was reasonably quick but wasn't overly impressed with the selection of cakes, the slice of cake was small and very dry (didn't seem fresh) and the coffee not particularly flavourful.

Four of us attended for a midweek supper. We each chose Nepalese dishes as opposed to Indian and were not disappointed. (In fact I can’t quite understand why they offer menu items from India at all?) Very well cooked and presented food with charming service. Nothing not to like and will certainly return. No hesitation in recommending

Ordered a take-away today for 5 people. It was cooked to perfection and served on time. We could see it being cooked in a clean environment. Staff were friendly and gave us some free Turkish Delight. Excellent service and food at a reasonable price.

We come every year and love it. Brilliant cocktails and great atmosphere. Owner is so friendly and accommodating, Sudip is the best!

Struggled to find anywhere dog friendly and was recommended this place by a local. Small seating area but they managed to squeeze us in. The full English was outstanding and my partner cleared his plate which was meant it was 5*. Will definitely come back as great food at reasonable prices albeit long wait.

Would recommend booking because everyone knows it's one of the best places in Tonbridge to eat! Tasty food and can accommodate gluten free

I had their thali chicken set and mango lassi and boyyy was I impressed! It reminded me so much of my mum’s cooking! I will definitely be coming back again and again! Also the waiters working there were so nice and friendly! Only downfall was the fact that I had to wait for 40-50mins for the food, but regardless it’s a 5/5star for me!

One of the better pubs in Tonbridge. Great Landlord. Great atmosphere. Great range of booze at affordable prices. Great food - particularly the pizzas. I'll definitely be returning.

Love our local Chinese restaurant. Isabella and team are great. Food is always hot and fresh and we are always found a little table and made to feel very welcome. They are happy to listen to your food likes and dislikes and are happy to create something special. Diana
