Great place for Breakfast or Brunch, although they do Lunches and Afternoon teas. Friendly Staff, Mark and Ellie are always attentive. Food is always cooked great, as you would expect. We try to get there at least once a fortnight as a treat.

Just had fish and chips from this place for 13 people at a sheltered acommodation and everyone said it was the best fish and chips they have had for a long time. It eas easy to order on line and it was ready in my time slot 10/10

Sunday lunch. Food fine, massive portions, too much. Trying to rush everything, staff literally running around all over the place. Felt as if they wanted everyone to eat up quickly so as to get someone else ysing the table. Overall not a great experience..

Lovely cosy village pub, everyone is very friendly and dogs are welcomed. Parking can be a little tricky on the streets sometimes.

Came across this place on the last leg of a walk on the Downs a few years back. Returned today to find all was closed down and overgrown, despite a website i ducati g to the contrary. . How on earth someone managed to submit a good review on 4th Sep is rather strange. The location and feel of the garden, with the gravel pathways and cottage type beds, was once absolutely idyllic. Not surprised it hasn't survived - the following is what I drafted back then. Pethaps I should have read the signs... "There were lots of tables and chairs to choose from, some in some very welcome shade. We were rather dirty and sweaty, so didn't really notice the standard of the furniture. We sat and recovered, reading our papers. The drinks and lunch were of very good quality and tasty, so we didn't mind the above average prices. However, the speed of service and attitude of the older woman were bad. I can't therefore give a good rating.. The place was not crowded, and we had to remind them about our order (tea, cold drinks and salad) after 30 minutes - when an adjacent table was served before us, having arrived 10 minutes or so after us. When our order was delivered, our comment was "oh, lovely, we're ready for this", to which the woman replied "oh have you been waiting - we can only work so fast in this heat you know". Clearly someone who finds it easy to make it the customer's problem. Just an apology would have done. Shall go back though, for the location, but perhaps just for a cuppa next time (would possibly be cold tho).

Lovely cafe with huge garden just next door to the post office/shop. We sat in the garden and had a pot of earl grey. My friend had a scone and I hade a slice of carrot and orange cake. All very good. Friendly service.

Lydia and her team were fantastic, making my wifes birthday meal even more special. Lovely food and great personal service. The girls at the Anchor are amazing. Xxx

Amazing food as always. The chicken and leek pie is stunning. Lots of meat filling. The chips are fried to perfection. We always love the beef burgers as they're cooked perfectly and the salad was fresh and vibrant, as it always is. The Green Man is fantastic as its consistently good. There's a large selection of alcoholic drinks and a specials board that changes each day.

What a fantastic place this is. Such a lovely atmosphere. I opted for the New York bagel “delicious “ and beautifully presented, washed it down with a chilled alcohol free lager, very refreshing. The staff were friendly and polite. My brother visiting from USA is a vegetarian so was pleased to see a wide choice on the menu to cater for him.

Absolutely Outstanding – A Go-To Spot! Cafe Ganges,has consistently delivered an exceptional experience every time I order. Their tandoori dishes and butter chicken are absolutely stunning—packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. Whether I’m dining in or ordering takeout, the quality remains top-tier. The staff are incredibly polite, welcoming, and always friendly. Even when I order for delivery, the service is prompt, and the food arrives warm, well-packaged, and without any mess. That level of care really stands out. I’ve also had the pleasure of dining in, and the experience was just as great. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the management personally greets guests, which adds a lovely personal touch. On top of all that, the pricing is very reasonable—especially considering the location—and there’s plenty of parking available nearby, which makes it even more convenient. They also serve halal meat which is much appreciated! Highly recommend Cafe Ganges —great food, great people, and always a pleasure.

Went for dinner with my family to the Cock Inn tonight. Mathew did such a wonderful job of taking care of us all. He was so friendly and accomodating and made sure we were well taken care of. The food was delightful. Filled with rich flavors and generous portions. Coming from Canada we were so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and how delicious it all was. We ordered the sausages, the shepherd's pie, the salmon and the seabass. Then we indulged by having some ice cream and crumble with custard. Another delight was to find out that Mathew had made the delicious crumble himself. I would recommend this wonderful pub if you would like some delicious food in a clean and spacious environment with absolutely lovely service.

We were told the takeaway food would be about 20 minutes, so arrived after about 25 just to be sure. Unfortunately this was nowhere near how long it actually took. We waited an hour in the end for the food and quickly drove the 2 minutes home, when we arrived home everything on the order apart from one item was stone cold. We ate the food because we were all hungry by this time and needed to feed the kids, the food itself wasn’t bad. But the wait and fact it was cold I probably wouldn’t return. Unless you’ve got plenty of time on your hands and like cold food! A shame because it’s the only kebab place in the village, during the week it’s still slow but better. Maybe I’ll drive the extra few minutes to Lewes in future…

Lovely and soft fresh bread with crisp crusts. Lots of gorgeous cakes and pastries. The doughnuts are squishy with loads of icing.
