First time of calling into the cafe/ shop with a friend, quite busy and certainly off the beaten track, friendly service, good selection of rolls and sandwiches, the coffee was very good and I can recommend the bacon roll, now I know where it is I will definitely call again.

Lovely place to stop off and grab a bite. Good selection of cakes and your standard selection of hot food. I had the cream tea, which was nice. My only criticism was that the scone was a little crumbly. Service was very good and friendly. Seating available both inside and out.

The Curry Lounge in Ashington is hands down our favourite restaurant in the area. Whether we’re dining in or ordering takeaway they always remember our names and greet us like old friends, and that personal touch makes all the difference. The food itself is absolutely outstanding. Every dish is packed with flavour, cooked to perfection and consistently delicious. We’ve tried countless Indian restaurants over the years including many of the top spots in London, and the Curry Lounge genuinely holds its own against the very best. From fragrant biryanis to rich, spicy curries and perfectly baked naan, everything is done with care and quality ingredients. The service is warm and attentive, and the atmosphere always feels welcoming. Highly recommended, a true local gem that delivers five-star Indian cuisine every time.

Check in - person on desk didn't know how to check in group booking, took name of main booker then tried to send all six of us up to one (double) room. Confusion with paperwork when trying to get other keys. No direction on where to go to find our rooms. Room - Poor cleanliness, examples include accumulated dust on pipes in left corner under the window, and on both nightstands, hair dryer didn't switch on (should fuse outside have been put on?), fluff from filter all over top of toilet, no remote for tv, volume buttons on tv didn't work. Only two hangers in wardrobe, no clothes drawers (just small night stand/desk drawers for trinkets). Breakfast- Day 1, gave my details and said I was part of group booking - lady said sit anywhere not reserved. One table of six with reserved sign on it. Had to go back and check, she eventually concluded the reserved table was ours. Didn't warm gluten free bread for friend (who couldn't use the shared toaster due to cross contamination). Day 2- no table set up for six in dining room, we had to move furniture ourselves. I complained, chef followed me into dining room (in front of other guests) to have a go at me - she said they only reserved tables yesterday as the hotel was full. It was not about reserved or not - they have a group of six (for the second day of their stay) who will obviously want to sit together. Hurt my shoulder moving tables. They had run out of cheese (completely, as of the previous day) - told me "oh you had it yesterday", and did not put anything else out to make up for not having it. Again, friend's gluten free bread not warmed/toasted. In conclusion, the bare minimum standards of customer service, accommodation, catering, and cleanliness are not met in this establishment.

It was a cold day and we visited for a cup of coffee and to see the recently opened pub. The lovely open fire was unlit and there was no atmosphere. For an old pub the decor was not suited to this lovely village pub. Another couple came in and asked for mulled wine, however the pub had none! So December, no fire lit, no mulled wine and staff that were not very engaging. We looked at the food menu and we felt over priced. I’m not surprised it’s closed. Hopefully it will re-open soon with someone with a better strategy.
