First time of calling into the cafe/ shop with a friend, quite busy and certainly off the beaten track, friendly service, good selection of rolls and sandwiches, the coffee was very good and I can recommend the bacon roll, now I know where it is I will definitely call again.

I’ve visited this store and cafe on numerous occasion this year sometimes on my own or with my partner. Sometimes for coffee and sometimes to buy the odd item from the store such as vegetables or local cheese. The staff are lovely, the coffee is pretty good on the whole, occasionally nuclear hot which it shouldn’t be but I’m being picky really. Typical cafe snacks - huge selection of absolutely wonderful pastries, sausage roles or a choice of made to order sandwich’s. Child and dog friendly as a village cafe should be. Plenty of space outside for dog owners to sit along with places for them to be tied up alongside water bowls.

A great place to stop for the best bread and ice cream around. Also helpful staff, lovely pastries and ample space inside and out for a leisurely tea/coffee. Such a great local asset.

A truly authentic piece of Portugal in the centre of Horsham! Lovely food, extremely friendly hospitable and courteous staff, and very reasonable prices. The pastel de nata are baked freshly on site, and are truly delicious!! A really interesting cafe to sit in also, with lots of Portuguese products to browse through. Will be heading back very soon!

We had a wonderful stay last weekend; we arrived to be greeted with a warm welcome from the reception staff, our room was beautiful and had everything we needed. Dinner was delicious, a 5-course tasting menu and you can choose from a choice of 3 items for each course. The wine list is extensive and it's all on a tablet where you can select and compare a shortlist before choosing. Breakfast was equally fabulous, a huge choice made to order, and the cooked breakfast was lovely and hot (not always the case). The birds at the castle are a little noisy at sunset/sunrise - if you are sensitive to noise or want to sleep late, bring your earplugs. We weren't bothered by it though. Another review mentioned that the rooms are not sound proofed: it's a 12th century castle, and you can hear things like you would in any hotel. It wasn't a problem at all for us. The beds were comfortable and we slept very well. Amberley village is lovely for a short walk - they have the Black Horse pub which is fantastic for a drink before dinner, and the food is great there if you're not eating in the hotel. Arundel Castle and town is nearby and also worth a visit even when the castle is closed. Several independent shops and cafes, and you can walk along the River Arun too. We will definitely return to the hotel!
