Victoria's Sponge in Horsham

Wonderful independent tearoom with a very well thought-out menu. Good size portions with vegan and gluten free options. Creative kid's menu and a selection of cakes to die for. Very customer focussed. Clearly a local's favourite. Reasonably priced. Whether it's a tea or coffee or a filling light snack, you won't be disappointed.

Just stopped to take a look at Steyning on our way home and stopped here for coffee and cake. Lovely owner, great cake and very nice coffee. Thank you.

Relaxed atmosphere, good food, good coffee. Had a good panini with a nice side salad.

It could be a lovely place but they over charge and under deliver on sizes. The drink sizes are tiny despite advertised as regular and they are certainly not generous with the cake. £15 for a slither of cake and 2 small drinks

Victoria's sponge in Steyning- what a treat! We stopped in for coffee and cake but ended up staying for lunch. The coffee was great, the food was well made and delicious and the cake was SUBLIME. What made the visit however was the service from the amazing staff! Lucy is an absolute star and did everything she could to help put us at ease; in truth all of the staff are fantastic! The coffee shop is small and very popular, as you'd expect for such a week run establishment, but everyone involved did everything they could to keep the place running smoothly and did so with a smile on their face. Highly recommend!

Victoria's Sponge is a real gem in the heart of Steyning. The staff are absolutely lovely & can't do enough for you. Great selection of cakes, including vegan options, plus the coffee is really nice and uses full fat milk (I can't stand a latte with semi or skimmed milk, which is what most places seem to use these days!!). They have loads of milk options though depending on what you want. Definitely worth a visit for coffee & cake, lunch or afternoon tea. I found it a really friendly place too, feels part of a community, but also equally welcoming for visitors and the many lycra clad cyclists I saw popping in for a pit stop outside...they even have snacks on hand for your dog if you have one :)

Sandwich bread was dry and salad leaves browning. Salad served on the side but with no offer of dressing a bit pointless. Coffee was nice, staff pleasant but distracted. The wait was long and from where we were sitting the kitchen looked chaotic (dirty dishes piled up). Table sticky, jam on wall next to use - everything looked like it needed a good clean. The toilet was filthy (grime and hairs in the corners) so quite frankly when I’d seen that I didn’t want to eat anything else.

I hate to leave bad reviews for well intentioned places, but I had a poor lunch here. One person was working in the whole establishment handling orders, coffees, cakes, making salads etc, so service was very slow. The salads were not good value and really not that great. The flat whites arrived scorching hot which is not the correct temperature for a flat white (cold milk was asked for and provided). Lastly the sponge cakes are fine but all very sweet (my friends and I tried 3 of them). I chose to come here on the basis of all the stellar google reviews but I don’t think it warrants such a high score unfortunately.

Food and drink were all smashing, but oh my goodness, the service! It was incredibly busy when we got there; the waitress was awesomely efficient but also the friendliest, smily-est person ever. The whole visit was a joy.

Very friendly welcome, cheerful staff, great looking range of locally-made cakes. Tuna melt toasty was spot on and the spinach super fuel smoothie hit the spot for re-energising on a long bike ride.

Had a delicious cream tea, the scone was warmed up too (nice touch). Sat outside at the only free table - it was on a bit of a slope, which wasn't ideal as the plate wanted to slide off the glass table. Quite noisy traffic as well, but still quite pleasant sat in the sun.

Wonderful cakes, tasty tea, lovely crockery and fun decor. Excellent service and dog-friendly. Worth avoiding the by-pass for plus being able to see what else Steyning has to offer. Will be back next time I’m travelling this way.

This cafe is more than just a cafe. It is such a welcoming place and a joy to visit thank you! Lucy and Tilly were so friendly and went out of their way to give an enjoyable experience where I felt at home and properly looked after. I wish this cafe was in my local village, I would go there every day. Thank you for being so lovely and the food is delicious too!

This little hidden gem has fast become a favourite of mine. Nothing is too much trouble for the lovely ladies running this little café. Get ready to feel spoilt for choice with all their gluten free options from sandwiches to some of the best GF cake I have had. It's quirky interior and relax environment make this a joy to visit. Despite the smallest kitchen I have ever seen they are still able to fully cater for and maintain a safe preparation area for gluten free food, with highly knowledgeable staff over the risks of cross contamination and their high food standards I can't recommend this place enough.

Went here a couple of times for takeaway sandwiches during our week's holiday in Steyning. Lovely friendly welcome when we walked through the door, excellent service, really nice sandwiches plus generous & tasty salad pots. Top notch.

What a delightful place for coffee and cake. The staff were attentive and very friendly and there was a lovely atmosphere in the place. With nine home made cakes to choose from I found it very difficult but my lemon and apple crumble cake was delicious and I will be back soon to taste the rest ! A real find!

Don’t normally leave reviews but the blueberry and lemon sponge is probably the best cake I’ve ever tried… and it’s vegan!!

Lovely staff. Dogs allowed. Went back 3 times and they recognised immediately. Nice cups and saucers. Had breakfast on Easter Sunday. Amazing. Everything food wise looked great.

For quality and service this cafe can't be beaten. I do have one concern though. The bill was paid by credit card and I got an e-mail receipt, but I never gave anybody my e-mail address. So how did they get it?

Pleasant surroundings and food. The best service I have come across for a long time - very polite, helpful and more. Many establishments have much to learn from the two young ladies who were serving today - even much more upmarket places. Recommended.

Visited 1:30 Saturday. Lucy ( I think that was her name ) had a busy cafe and all by herself. Food and drinks were all superb and she worked very hard with a smile and even made time somehow to chat and make people welcome. She was faultless.

Stopped here on our circular walk from Washington. This is a delightful cafe situated at one end of the Main Street near the Dolls House. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and had 2 cappuccinos and cake. The coffee was excellent whilst the cake was delicious. We had the biscoff and gluten free lemon and elder flower polenta cake. Both were extremely moist and some of the best we have eaten anywhere. Will certainly return when we are in the area. Fully recommend.

If you have all the time in the world to wait for service this is a great place…..the food when it arrived was fine although there was no spread on the sandwich bread. The young ladies serving were polite, smiley and very apologetic. The cafe was not especially busy but it took 45 minutes to poorly make 2 sandwiches, provide 2 hot beverages and cut 2 enormous slices of cake. Not sure if we will be back soon.

We popped in yesterday for coffee prior to an appointment. Lovely coffee, great service, fabulous menu, so much so we decided to return for lunch. We had two very tasty fresh made sandwiches, accompanied by salad. Sadly, the electricity was out and so we could only order cold food and drinks. The woman behind the counter served everyone with a smile and worked like a real trooper during the outage. Will definitely return on my next visit to Steyning High Street.

Red velvet cake and the pineapple smoothie still has a frozen mango chunk in it also the red velvet cake was the worst red velvet cake I’ve ever had in my life to be honest I’d rather go to a costa then here. However the flowers in the shop are lovely and so are the staff x

So glad I found this cafe!!! It is beautifully decorated and has such a lovely atmosphere. I could have coffee and cake there any day of the week.

Overall the food is priced very fairly and the staff were welcoming, however, the quality of the cake was surprisingly poor. The toffee and banana cake was dry with a buttercream filling verging on inedible; hopefully this is not reflective of their other offerings! Toasted sandwich was fine but not worthy of leaving the house for.

Absolutely lovely in every way! I took my Mum here for a birthday treat - we've never been to this cafe before, but I mentioned to them on booking a table that it was my Mum's birthday. The table was decorated, plus above the table from the ceiling! The service was exceptional, both waitresses were so kind and gave Mum a couple of little treats as well, which really made her day and was such a lovely and kind surprise. The food was delicious too. Thank you so much! Can only recommend to all :)

We chose their paninis, for which they have a range of interesting fillings. Hard not to be tempted by their range of cakes.

Beautiful place! Lovely waitress and excellent service. Waitress was approachable and hard working. Interior is fab and the food overall was worth the wait. Would come again!

Lovely friendly staff. Disappointed there was only one piece of vegan cake after reading great reviews of the place. The cake was tasty albeit a little heavy being chocolate cake. Hot chocolate was very good. Great atmosphere and lovely setting.

We discovered this lovely little tea house on Sunday, it's absolutely smashing, the young lady could not of been more helpful and charming. We had a lovely welcome and there was a wide range of cakes etc. Blue badge parking right outside. We WILL be back !

My friend and I had a lovely lunch at Victoria’s Sponge. The lady who served us (I didn’t catch her name, but she had purple hair!) was amazing. The cafe was so busy but our drinks, food and cake were amazing and her service remained fantastic despite being the only member of staff working. Lots of vegan options including almost all sandwiches available as vegan and a vegan cake too! Would definitely recommend.

A lovely spot for a pot of tea and toast. Delicious oat milk cappuccino! Thank you to Lucy, who made us feel ever so welcome. We will be back the next time we pass through Steyning

We discovered Victoria's today at the bottom of Steyning High Street and will definitely be returning on a regular basis to try more of the delicious cakes and sandwiches. Visited here on Saturday afternoon for tea and scones. What a find! First thing is how amazing the place looks, even the light shades have been carefully considered. Very welcoming and quick service even though the place was busy/full. The cups for tea are really nice, and then the scones were so good and also a very decent size. More than enough accompanying jam and clotted cream to go with them. I wanted to get a slice of cake too, however, I knew my limits! Will definitely be back though as others around were enjoying cake and other bits from the menu so feel like we need to try them too. Great that dogs are welcome too. So pleased we found this place.

Enjoyable scrummy birthday lunch today at Victoria's sponge of grilled Chicken salad and slice of gluten free Chocolate and raspberry cake ( so light and tasty) in the pretty surrounds. Great customer service too. Would highly recommend the cafe to anyone wanting a snack or lunch .

I recently went to Victorias for lunch and it was delicious! The sandwiches were yummy with a great selection on offer. I was so pleased with my lunch I decided to have some cake for pudding. I had the cappucino cake and it was really delicious. The coffee was also very tasty. Victoria herself was so friendly, warm and welcoming to my family, including my two children. We will be back very soon.

Please don’t go here and have sandwiches - all ingredients are cheap and come from the coop up the road. Tasteless and horrible. And then they charge you £7.50 which is incredibly over priced. Been to so many places that charge less than that but have good produce. Can’t express how bad this was. Really not happy with my experience there

Came across this small cafe in Steyning by chance. Really enjoyed the simple toasted sandwiches of, chicken with avocado and tuna with avocado, both in wholemeal bread and came a small small salad serving. Choice was off menu and was no problem at the set price. We didn't look at the salad choice, but when we saw the generous bowl served to another customer, we were envious. The coffee was the most delicious we had tasted in an age. Just had to have a second cup. There was a regular queue for takeaway. The delicious homemade cakes we have left until the next time. Thanks for the all round hospitality x

Visited Victoria's Sponge a few times. Victoria (yes that is her name!) always has time for a smile and a chat. The drinks beautifully served in a range of eclectic crockery. The sponges and cakes are out of this world. Also good range of light meals.

Not one for reviews normally, but after popping in for some breakfast passing through the village, me and my partner were not disappointed. Coffe was perfect, scrambled egg on toast was lovely and the cake went down very well too, such a lovely little place and super polite. hopefully will be back soon!!

The most wonderful cake creations; favourites plus delightfully new creations each time. It's so hard to choose, many a time you have on slice to eat there and one slice to take home.

We go here every weekend. The cake is the best I've had in the area and possibly anywhere. Even the gluten-free cakes are super good. The owner, Victoria, is the best - so friendly and skilled at running her lovely little business!

Gorgeous food. Cakes are really moist and beautifully made. The owner is super friendly and can't do enough for you. My husband is disabled but he was able to get his powered wheelchair in with our small portable ramp which was no problem for her. Can definitely recommend.

An amazing little gem of a cafe. I am always in awe of people who manage to run little cafes well. I stopped there as a stop on a cycle and the lady running it couldn't of been more friendly and helpful. I had a great flat white and some incredible teacakes with marmalade. If you are in Steyning and they have a space for you, pop in!

Had a lovely chickpea salad and rose lemonade, and they are dog friendly so didn't have to sit outside in the heat.

This is a lovely and incredible place with a fantastic selection of delicious cakes. An equally lovely feel to it. Victoria and her staff make you very welcome and create a really nice atmosphere. A diamond of a place. Thank you Victoria for all the time and effort you put into it.
