The best restaurants serving Default food in Windermere Applethwaite and Troutbeck South Lakeland North West

Oh my word! This place needs six stars. Great food Great views Great price Great portion sizes Great friendly and quick service. We sat outside for lunch overlooking the lake and surrounding hills. The staff accommodated to our specific order. A lovely garden and lots of things to do nearby. Will come back! Just incredible.

We had the half crispy duck as a starter and lemon chicken and sweet chilli chicken for mains with salt & pepper chips. All the food tasted fresh and perfectly cooked. Great choice for an anniversary meal.

Fantastic restaurant with plenty of options in a lovely setting.

Just spent a lovely time enjoying afternoon tea here for my birthday treat. Looked after wonderfully by Mathew who was professional but very welcoming and friendly. Delicious mixture of sweet and savoury treats, plus lovely glasses of fizz. Far too much food to finish, however offered boxes to pack the cakes in to enjoy at home. Can’t wait to visit again.

As a regular here for coffee/cake and breakfast, and always impressed, I took my Mum here for dinner. Wonderful service as usual, super pleasant staff, and the food was fabulous. I opted for the homemade chicken pie, which as I told the staff, was literally the best chicken pie I have ever had. 11/10. Definitely be returning for more dinners, as well as everything else. This is the second time that we have visited this lovely place , and it was as brilliant as the first time. The Manager and staff are so lovely and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. They do all their own baking on the premises and the hot chocolate is amazing. It is situated next to Booth's at Windermere train station. When you're in the area you must call in, they also have activities in the evening , ie board games, Celtic nights etc, and absolute gem of a place

I had the decaf latte, which was barely drinkable. Not so much a coffee shop (at least to American eyes), more like a little diner.

This place sells amazon ice cream. The girl behind the counter was really helpful and took time to look after all her customers. Place was a real find.

Very much disappointed. It’s called spa hotel but it’s almost impossible to get in the spa. We managed to book one day in spa a week in advance, it was not bad, especially staying outside in the outdoor pool. The next day we tried to book a spa again - no chances for three days ahead. We tried to go to spa during so called complementary hours, which is most inconvenient time of the day - during the breakfast and dinner time. It turned out that complimentary spa is only inside, which just a swimming pool, one small jacuzzi and one infrared sauna. To go outside you should book in advance again, which is of course unavailable since they are completely occupied. It’s called a spa hotel, but besides you have to pay for the spa separately, it’s not possible to use it. I paid £450 per night for the room, ready to pay extra for the spa, but can’t use it? Room is the only thing which is ok, but I stayed in the most expensive part, I understood the rooms in other buildings are not so good. Strange thing that TV set had only few channels, no Netflix or other streaming services and all the ways to connect it from own device are blocked. I visited both restaurants - was disappointed by the food. Breakfast is not bad, but they could offer fresh orange juice, which they don’t do. I had face and feet massage (booked in advance of course) - it was slapdash work. The location is ok, had some lake view from the window, but there are a lot of hotels nearby with the same or better location. Service was ok, no complaints, but in general I am very much unsatisfied with my stay.

Enjoyed a great Saturday night whilst staying in a cottage nearby. Food and service were excellent , and very digestible friendly place too. Good selection of beers and wines to suit all tastes , and a fab sticky toffee pudding on the menu

Was very delighted with this combo of shopping and restaurant. Highly recommend if in the area!!! Food was very good and staff was excellent
