We arrived at the restaurant for our 7pm booking for 6 people to be told our table wasn't ready. There was a large party on our table so the guy said they'll get them moved and get our table ready. As the rest of our party arrived at 6:55pm we waited until 7pm when we were told to come back as our table still wasn't available and didn't look like the party was moving anytime soon so we went across the road for a round of drinks in the pub costing us additional money. We then came back at 7:25 to be told our table STILL wasn't ready as the party had arrived 20 minutes late, they were still chatting and the guy said "you know how it is in hospitality, we can't just ask them to leave" but he can ask us to wait for 30 minutes. We questioned if we could have the table of 4 and table of 2 next to each other pushed together which had been empty since 6:50 to be told we couldn't have these as the table was booked. We understand there were additional bookings but I cannot fathom why we couldn't have this table after waiting half an hour and make the next booking wait for the large party to leave instead of us waiting longer and longer. After some back and forth with the guy who was making a feeble attempt at apologising, he explained we couldn't have the tables pushed together as the table was booked for a regular customer. Now I understand restaurants will rely on these regular customers but this just came across as the restaurant values it's regular customers over new customers. He then explained the table was reserved for these regulars as they have a disabled son and they need to sit there as "he'll be screaming". At this point I pointed out that we were coming for a birthday meal for my sister in law who has downs syndrome - should we have put this on the booking to ensure we got a table? At no point was there an offer of a complimentary round of drinks, some starters or a dessert as an apology for the wait, which would have satisfied us as we were keen to try this place and had been waiting for 30 minutes at this point. We were told the table was going to pay and we needed to wait a bit longer at which point we were still stood outside and didn't want to wait in the cold any longer. We left and went elsewhere where we were accommodated last minute and had a lovely birthday meal. My advice to the owners should this issue arise again: 1) If you know a table is running over, give bookings a call to let them know it may be slightly later / pushed back 2) Offer the empty tables to sit at with a round of drinks while we wait for our table to be free - we would have happily have moved over once it was ready 3) Give a sincere apology and not excuses of "it's hospitality" or "they're regulars"

Got food delivered from this place, the drinks where cold the food portion sizes where abysmal and the food itself was terrible. Either theyve change manager or staff or have just stopped caring about the place as now its terrible.

My wife and I called in on a Friday lunchtime on the spur of the moment. First impression is that it is a popular location so would probably be best to make a reservation. We were made to feel very welcome by staff and soon found a choice of two tables. The pub itself has a cosy ambience still feeling like the old coaching inn it once was, Tastefully decorated in keeping with the pubs heritage Staff courteous and amenable without being overbearing. I decided to have the soup of the day off the specials list, one of the best potato and leek soups I have had, served with a crispy bread and garlic and herb butter. My wife chose the steak frites as her main course, after much deliberation I chose the steak and ale pie opting for fries in stead of chips with a gorgeous portion of savoy cabbage. Meal was served promptly, piping hot, very well presented with a good portion size. Truly enjoyed my lunch, food was hand prepared and of high quality. Hardest decision was which main course to choose as I liked so many of them. I guess I will just have to return try the other choices. Particular thanks to our waitress I think she was called Lottie Very enjoyable experience would recommend without hesitation, much more than your average pub lunch - good effort!

Stopped by today for the 1st time for lunch. I had battered sausage, chips, English curry sauce & a drink. The food was great & made fresh, the staff was friendly and all for a decent price. Alot better than other chippy's I've tried in the area!! I'll definitely be back when I'm passing next.

An old friend of mine arranged for a small group of us to have a catch up & curry here. We met on a Wednesday night and after parking in the free car park at the rear of the premises (although one friend had to park on the road as there was no room) we received a warm welcome and were seated. Wednesday night there is a Specials Menu and this was left on the table for us with the main menu, to help us choose. The specials menu includes three courses for £11.95, and is very good value for money. We all chose this. Each course was delivered in a reasonable time and the waiters were courteous and friendly. Everyone enjoyed the food, which was well presented, hot and delicious. I loved the onion bhajis which were not greasy at all, and the vegetable Rogan Josh was especially tasty. We were amongst the last to leave after a lovely night and were not rushed at all. Highly recommend.

Lovely beer garden and great beer. Play area for the kids but dogs not allowed in pub. Big grassy area at back though with bowls of water everywhere.

The restaurant was very busy, but only seemed to be one person, Sheena taking orders. We had a lovely lunch, good food but when it came to order another drink we waited a very long time. There were people waiting to be seated and had there have been more people taking orders, we would have had our extra drinks and the table would have been made available. More staff taking orders required, otherwise, like us, you will be there taking up a table for a very long time.
