We’ve just eaten here and it was really good. It’s mid week and the restaurant was quiet but the staff are friendly and the midweek menu is very good value (cobra at £3 a pint!). The food is good too with some extra choices compared to the average curry house. Highly recommend

As a regular visitor to this restaurant I have to say that it just gets better on each visit. From its attentive staff, cracking, comprehensive menu and fab venue, you will struggle to beat this place. The Rogan Josh is the best I have had with the meat always tender and full of flavour. The wife always goes for the Tikka Masala as she says it’s just the best and with a good selection of beverages the evening is always joyful and enjoyable. Service is always met with a smile and the staff are always approachable and understanding and despite at times being busy the service is spot on. Well worth a visit and never disappoints

My husband and I booked a table as we have been several times and it was very busy. When we arrived (7.55pm on a Friday Evening) there were just 2 people in which was not a good sign,. Hubby ordered a very hot curry but when it arrived it was so mild he had to send it back. My Naan Bread was very greasy and doughy. Very disappointing.It did get a little bit busier by 9.00

My wife and I went to the spice cottage first the first time last night after a recommendation, well it lived up to my expectations, the place is nice and relaxing, the waiters were excellent, very polite, I'm a vindaloo man but had the lamb patia hot sweet and sour, my word was it good, up there with my top 10 of curries, my wife had chicken southern Indian special garlic, she loved it, on a downside the poppadoms we're a little thin, overall a great night, clean, great food, good service

We are regulars to ordering a takeaway Indian from Spice Cottage but when we do choose to dine in we do so because of the laid back atmosphere. It is like having a curry at home except the food tastes miles better and there is no washing up. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. In over 15+ visits we have never had a problem and my wife is very picky. All in all - cheap curry, laid back atomsphere and tasty food.

Wonderful service..vice.. the waiters are very fast and efficient.. the food was piping hot.. one of the best curry houses.. we have been to.. this is the best one by far.

if you like greasy food that gives you heartburn come here the staff are very rude with not much communication, was over charged when the bill came.

Group of 16 girls on a Friday night, food tasty, staff helpful and polite and the bonus is you can take your own drink without a corkage charge, all in all a great night with excellent food, atmosphere and service and all for £15 which included a tip, will def be going back

Veggie dishes are now with small cubed 'frozen' style. This was once my favourite curry restaurant in the whole of Manchester. Not sure what has changed but the dishes now lack depth and are just ok. Staff are friendly and attentive. Always clean and well maintained.

A great little place handy for all living in the Bolton / Bury area. It's been open for years now with the same staff who continues he to smile and give courteous and pleasant service in every visit. The food is very tasty and they are happy to make adjustments for individual tastes. I think it has recently allowed BYOB which is helpful too. Also a great takeaway menu, often with complimentary poppadoms.Worth a try for a good value and tasty curry with good service too!

Consistently good food. Lovely atmosphere and efficient staff. The banquet deal and the emergency services discount are an excellent bonus!

The service was quick enough, we ordered take away and the food was ready on time and not cold. The staff were fine, we didn't have much interaction.The food itself was ok, although not as good as some Indians in Bolton and I thought the dips and sauces were a bit light for the price.

We ordered a takeaway from this restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful and smartly dressed.The takeaway was ready in half an hour, which was fine.The food was not so good. The naan was small and very flat. There was not enough mango chutney and onion chutney for three people. The poppadoms were ok. The starters were very oily and the onion baji were too chewy. The amount of meat in the mains was small, the containers were filled with mostly sauce. My husband and daughter ordered a lamb bhuna and a chicken balti, both of which were too spicy for them and usually they can eat these dishes. We did get a free bottle of wine, for spending over £35.00

Visited a couple of times with family, both meals were good however one of the meals on this occasion was lacking in chicken more like a masala soup with a bit of chicken.Nice atmosphere, nice staff and reasonably priced would recommend and go back.

Great curry house located on the edge of Little Lever, I won't go too much into the food as its your typical curry house, they don't attempt to put a twist on anything. Instead opting to just go for solid consistent well known dishes in addition to some of their own specials.Some of the highlights are the chili naan and Afghan chicken.If you hit this place mid week (Wednesday) you can get a great deal... any starter, a wide selection of mains and rice or naan - I'd recommend going in an even number so you can have both!

I have visited this place many times over the years and have never had a bad meal. The service has never been great and the staff not overly friendly but not enough to stop us returning as the food was good. Until this last visit. We arrived and a young waiter didnt seat us just pointed to our table then walked away. We had to ask for a menu and drinks. On this visit I have to say the service was the worse I have recieved. Unfriendly, uninterested staff, won't be returning.

We have visited this restaurant about three times. The first time when it first opened before they had a licence to serve drink. The food was reasonable and the staff were friendly and helpful.This is not a large restaurant with a small waiting area. Not many tables so its cosy. We have visited in total 3 times and found the food to be good. Competition with other Indian restaurants close by and in Bolton.

This was our first visit to the spice cottage. Chose this place because of 5 star hygiene rating. The restaurant is lovely, very clean & tidy, the staff were dressed smartly and very helpful. There is a window into the kitchen where you can see the food being cooked. It is obvious that the owners take a real pride in the place. We took our 3.5 year old daughter and we were all made to feel very welcome. Prices were reasonable and the food was excellent. Would highly recommend. Will definitely return

Have visited here a couple of times for different occasions, and have never been disappointed. The staff are wonderful. Very polite and helpful, they make sure you have everything you need and really add to the experience. The food is honestly brilliant. Authentic, fresh, delivered properly. Delicious! Prices are very reasonable. Including bar prices. And who can moan when you get hot towels after your meal and a Baileys with your bill?? :)

Worth a visit, nice food and staff, the interior is nice too so nice place to take friends or family, gets busy so maybe good idea to book, although they will accommodate you if they can.

We visited on Monday 26th October as a family for a late Birthday celebration. Great Food, Excellent Service and a lovely friendly atmosphere. So good we booked our family Christmas Day lunch here.

We have been going to Spice Cottage on a fairly regular basis since they first opened and never once have we had an issue. The food is always delicious and the staff friendly and helpful.When we have taken our young children the staff always make a fuss of them and ensure the children feel just as welcome as the grown ups.

Great food however meal with my partner was ruined slightly by the noise from a table of lads who were just sat around drinking rather than actually eating.

Been coming to this restaurant since it opened 7 years ago.The food is always of the highest standard, the staff are friendly and helpful and extremely polite. I would recommend it to anybody, in fact I am thinking of coming here for my Christmas Dinner!I wouldn't do that if I didn't fully trust them to deliver an excellent experience.

Four of us went to spice cottage tonite for a relaxing meal ok it was busy but it was sat night the food was absolutely awsome however the service was absolutely horrendous speaking to us in an unpleasant manner clearly disgusted because I had used a spoon albeit a filthy spoon with my starter it wasn't just I who had noticed there manner never again will we frequent this restaurant again manners cost nothing clearly they had none very rude

I eat here a lot (mainly takeaways but have eaten in the restaurant too) and have never been disappointed. The staff are always welcoming and friendly, especially the manager, Ali. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent service, the guys who work there are really pleasant and friendly, the food is always good and plenty of it, they go out of there way to please if you want to slightly change something, well worth a visit you won't be disappointed

Me and my 2 friends were here for our usual get together every other month. And I had been here before but my friends hadn't , so we came through my recommendation. As every time I have been it has been great. Unfortunately we were sat opposite these ladies this one night, but before this the food and service was excellent, you couldnt fault it.And it wasnt the staffs fault at all what happened this night. A bunch of ladies had far too much to drink and then obviously didnt want to pay there bill. How the management kept his calm I do not know. He was so cool and calm where I woukd have thrown them out how rude they were. We unfortunately heard what these ladies(use the term loosely) said when thery thought no one coukd hear them.it was nothing but disgusting, the staff had done nothing wrong, and they couldn't argue with the food because it was lovely. Something over cream in the coffee, well I had a coffee it was lovely. So dont know what the problem was there. And then they kicked off about the bill, it was right because the manager even showed them what they had ordered,0. Shame nasty drunk people lie and say nadty things when its a great place for evety age.honestly dont listen to these bad reviews because there lies. And its a shame.Great food and staff.will definitely go again.

My partner and I visited this restaurant on weds eve and enjoyed the food. Unfortunately there were a group of ladies also in restaurant who seemed to be enjoying there evening until they were shouted at by the manager of the restaurant. I felt uncomfortable and sorry for them as it seemed they were asking for replacement coffees and the manager lost his temper saying that his coffee was fine. I don't think he should of shouted at them in front of the rest of us as we felt very uncomfortable. They seemed very upset. We left and not sure we'd return. Not very good customer service.

Well it was my first time here reccomended by a friend that comes regularly and it couldn't have gone any better . the food was absolutely delicious and to make it better the staff was fantastic .Price of the food was also spot on , not to pricey. I would definitely reccomend this place to anyone who hasn't been here before!!

I was at spice cottage on the wednesday these women were there. Everything was going brilliant as usual as I have been a regular customer for 5 years and have known the manager for all that period of time. As I was saying the staff were brilliant with everyone all night, food was excellent, always attended to as usual.But unfortunately when the table these women were sat on ordered a coffee everything went sour, they were extremely rude to the staff about there coffee, even the manager offered to replace it but it wasnt good enough for these customers. They were very drunk and had been drinking all throughout there time there. When the bill arrived it was yet another commotion as the women said they were over charged, I personally saw the manager take them the slip that the waiter writes on when taking there drinks order, they do this as the bar tender makes the drinks not the waiter and everything was correct on it as I overheard, and from personal experience the waiter has always repeated the order before getting it, the women were getting aggressive and irate and were ruining the other customers visit. And some left as the women were so drunk and rude and aggressive. The manager who is a lovely polite man tried his best to explain to them that there had been no mistake, to which he was met with aggression. I soon left after this but the manager and staff were nothing but polite to these women from start to finish , but clearly from my point of view these women had drunk far to much that they couldnt even remember. They had upset myself and my partner and other diners. Every time I have come to spice cottage it has been nothing but spectacular and its unfair how some customers behave.

Strongly recommended if you want sour milk or cream in your coffee.Charging for a bottle of wine you never had.Rudeness from staff and management.Barring for raising a legitimate a complaint.

Really shocking attitude from staff over curdled cream in the coffee. Never seen behaviour like it. When asked if it could be replaced the manager refused and then started ranting that nobody else in the restaurant had complained and that there was nothing wrong with it. Not wanting to cause a fuss we asked for the bill only to find it was not itemised. When we disputed the bill, it was out by over £14 , the manager got even more irate and his attitude got even more offensive toward us. As we were a group of women , on our own, we found his attitude quite intimidating so paid the bill and left, only to be followed by a barrage of abuse from the manager. One of our elderly ladies was quite upset and shaken by the whole episode. The manager of this restaurant should be totally ashamed of himself and his behaviour, all over some curdled cream in some cheap coffee. I wonder if he'd have been such an arrogant bully if there had been any men in our party........somehow I doubt it.

Came for a meal for my friends birthday, food was fine until we asked for coffees at the end of our meal, a waiter brought the cream over and we all poured it into our coffes then we realised by the smell and the cream-cheese Texture that it was if fact OFF! So we complained and asked for new coffees which they refused and told us we had put the cream in the coffe the wrong way?? All of the waiters crowded our table and it got very heated! Then there was an unexplainable £15 on the bill when we asked what this was he could not seem to explain, all he kept saying was 'you must may your bill!!!!' Not in the nicest tone either. He was saying we was not allowed to leave unless we paid. So in the end we ended up paying and leaving. Also the coffe they serve is instant as we all saw him make it behind the bar which is not what it claims to say on the menu. We questioned him on his and he said ' we did not have time to make it properly as we close and want to go home after you have left!' Absolutely disgusting. As we walked out he told us to leave and never come back, and we will grant his wish that's for sure!

Me and my boyfriend always come here when we want the best curry in town. From the service to the dips to the curries it's all excellent! We've been here so many times and the food is always of the best quality. The staff are extremely friendly and can't do enough for you. We brought our parents here as well and they were just as impressed. Be back soon for another.

What do they mean? Poor food? Maybe they don't know what food should taste like! We have been going here for years and have never yet had a bad meal! We go all year round and this year was the same as ever. Good quality food, very nice staff and service to die for. Our friends have never been before but say that it is a "gem" and they will definitely go again. The price of the food is what you expect to pay for a top quality meal.

A friend recommended this venue and it met our expectations, a decent well priced menu. Nice food loved the choices and the methi was really good. The service was good and the place has 5 star hygiene rating which is really good. The bill was cheap and so the place is great value

Ate at this restaurant with friends, it all started quite well with the starters, mixed kebab "ok" & king prawn puri "average". for the mains mixed tandoori platter & lamb pasanda, the pasanda was prob the worst I have ever tasted, the sauce was so sweet & bland how they dare to serve this is beyond me, the meats in the tandoori platter were dry especially the chicken. the veg sauce accompaniment was too thick & one dimensional in taste we also had a garlic & cheese nan it was so soggy it was inedible I am sure this was not made in the restaurant & was shop bought & microwaved,I have eaten here many times in the past but not for the last 6 month & believe me I WILL NEVER be going back. take my tip do not visit this restaurant until the get a new chef or management

Went on recommendation ,had chicken chat starter which was not to bad ,then had chicken rogan Josh ,never had such sweet tasting dish it had no spices in it was topped with tinned tomatoes apart from that anything but authentic Indian food by the way I,m of indian origin.my had a chick in dupizai which tasted the same ,I would not recommend this place for a Indian food at all

Really enjoyed our visit to Spice Cottage, Radcliffe from start to finish. Fast but not rushed service. Amazing food, I love it hot and my Mrs likes mild/medium. We enjoyed everything we ordered and all at reasonable prices too. A hidden gem you must go and try

I'm not normally fond of Indian cuisine but this was exceptional. The vegetable sauce with my tandoori chicken was the best that I have ever tasted and I could have eaten it as a meal on its own with rice. The staff were superb - they just knew when you wanted them; very attentive but not intrusive. The menu is extensive and catered for our different tastes. The toilets were also spotless - something we women tend to notice! Thank you for a pleasant evening and we will be returning - you've made a convert!

We were taken to the spice cottage by some friends who go on a regular basis and can't speak highly enough about the place, we love indian food but had missed this little gem it was excellent in all respects could not fault a singe thing.Will be recommending and returning on a regular basis in the future.Thank you Spice Cottage.

Myself and my wife go here regularly. The food is outstanding and the staff exceptional! The service is always good and the atmosphere friendly. I would recommend the "special shashlik" - it is the best meal on the menu!

Our first visit since a great night on New Years Eve and again not disappointed. Warm welcome, escorted to a nice table where we ordered a bottle of house red and Cobra beer. Following the papadums we ordered special mix madras and chicken tikka masala which were very good. No chance for desert but finished with coffees and brandy. Good all round value for money and will definitely visit again.

Our first visit to this Indian restaurant with family who had been before and they were right to recommend it. You can imagine how busy it was for New Years Eve, not a spare seat in the place but the warm welcome we received was amazing from the immaculately turned out staff. We immediately ordered drinks and the usual starters which were served within minutes. Numerous waiters were very attentive and it wasn't long before more drinks were ordered ahead of the main courses being served. The various curries were excellent as was the Cobra beer, with the wives happy with the house white wine. We had to leave at 9.00pm because more diners were waiting for tables but we had been told when we booked that there was 3 sittings on the night. Well worth another visit.

Nothing is to much trouble, will alter dishes to suite your taste, comfortable clean surroundings, friendly atmosphere, great value for money and will certainly be going back again.

Just back from a lovely meal at The Spice Cottage. Been here several times but never written a review so here goes.Always a friendly welcome and they recognise you as repeat customers which is good. Excellent choice of food and good quality. Can't say I have ever been disppointed here. Will not be able to go as often due to moving house but if in the area will be back!

I visited this place as it was nearest to where I was and I was very hungry after a long business meeting, the place looked appealing from the outside and I thought I give it a try before I set off home. Was a surprised the food and service was actually really good to be fair, the restaurant had some panache to their decor, it looked contemporary and also the furniture went very well with the restaurant. The service was good the waiter greeted me with a smile and placed me to my table and took my drinks order immediately and gave me the menu. The menu lacked a lot as it didn’t have that wow factor to it and the establishment can go to other restaurants and compare their menu selection to others to keep up with the trend. It’s a pity because the place looks nice and the service staff are wonderful here but the lack of umphhh was missing in the food selection that was available. The signature dishes they had on offer wasn’t appealing enough for me to really choose any of them so I decided to order what I know will not disappoint me and that was the Tandoori Murghi Masala and when my meal came the presentation was quite good and looked vibrant and my tummy was rumbling so I dug in straight away and it tasted different to where I have ordered this dish before. Don’t get me wrong it tasted delicious but it was a little runny than the usual Masala’s I have tried. For my first visit there the place is relatively restaurant I would talk about as the ambience is warm and the welcoming type and if it was in the West Midlands I would probably go back a second time. As this is a fairly new place, I would say give this place a go and decide for yourself if this place is for you or not as the taste does advocate a return to the place. From my brief stay at the restaurant I recommend this place and hope that menu excels as time goes by and if I am around that area I will certainly pay a visit and may even take my clients there.

I had my 'Christmas dinner' here last year and enjoyed it so much I returned this Christmas with my partner. We have also eaten here on another couple of occasions and not been disappointed.The Christmas Day menu at £29.95 per head was fabulous. A warm, friendly greeting on arrival was followed by a glass of sherry or orange juice. Then on to a choice of starter, followed by any main meal with any rice, any naan bread and a glass of Baileys.At the end of the meal, the lovely staff gave us a Christmas card and a bottle of red wine to take home!No negative comments apart from the quality of the Christmas crackers.....and if that's the only thing I can think of it is fair to say that I love this restaurant.

First started going to this restaurant around 3 years ago. We have never been disappointed. They will make any dish for you even if it is not on the menu and they will also change any dish to your liking if you rather have it spicier or less so.One of the owners Sheik always goes out of his way to make sure you are enjoying your meal and loves to chat.Overall as stated excellent menu staff and great value for money especially on Wednesday nights

This Restaurant is just on the border of Little Lever and Radcliffe, used to be the Wellington Inn. It has been tastefully transformed into a restaurant. The staff are always diligent and helpful and the food is consistently excellent here. We last booked in as a party of 14 and they looked after us very well. We had a three courses, including any main course, for £10.95, which is an excellent offer they have every Wednesday. Particularly as some of the main courses can cost up to £14.95 on another day !!

We've eaten here a few times and it's always been of a high standard, so much so that last year, just for a change, we decided to have our Christmas dinner here, the menu is varied and interesting and the staff are always cheerfull and helpfull. It's well worth a visit and can't recommend it enough.
